The truly disturbing thing is not the fact that teenagers work, it is the fact that they are shoehorned into the most menial, emotionally draining and low-paying jobs that can be found.

Teenagers should have jobs. They should be novelists and playwrights and game developers and programmers and fashion designers and choreographers and animators and inventors and poets and Olympic skateboarders and whatever else brings them joy.

They should not be being exploited by huge corporations in order to keep them silent, burnt out and generating adults a steady cash stream.

Hot take ig but kids in high school shouldn't have to work either. They should be spending their evenings doing homework and extra-curriculars and fucking around.

There definitely shouldn't be entire industries reliant on their low-wage labor. Why are there many kids being scheduled for a 6 hour shift after a 7 hour school day when they've got learning and their future and their childhood to worry about?

Any industry built on poverty wage child labor should perish, and that's most fast food and grocery and retail so I guess the economy's tanked 🤷. Should've thought about that before deciding to make the essential work into jobs for children and the underclass.

actually i absolutely wholeheartedly agree with the statement “vote for the lesser of 2 evils today and fight for less evil afterwards and every day until the next election” except the sad truth is that when the lesser evil candidate wins 90% of you are gonna cheer and celebrate and pat yourselves on the back and then go home and not do anything for the next 2 years until the next federal election day so like…….. im not an accelerationist but how many of you were in the streets protesting ice when obama was president and he was ramping up deportations and putting in place the infrastructure that trump then inherited? almost none of you because the electoral victory made you complacent. its a nice sentiment but realistically not only will turning congress blue or whatever not accomplish much, because they always sit on their hands even when they have the power to change shit, it’ll also make everyone think the fight is over. to be clear i DO think harm reduction is a good thing in terms of how you should vote so dont call me a russian chaos agent but that doesnt change the fact that not voting in all reality isnt super harmful, and voting for a spineless milquetoast liberal isnt particularly helpful and definitely isnt gonna usher in a fucking cultural revolution or whatever u think it will lmfao
