Geez, I hate their mentioning of the 'racially ambiguous' mirror bride. She's supposed to be like Christine? Like she's a replica of Christine that Erik made from his obsession. She should be somewhat resemble the real Christines no matter what their skin tone might be. Can't they just make another props and masks for the actresses to cover in or easier, cast more black actresses?
Aside from that, great article! Love them girls sm (Just not the changes of mirror bride)

Still, she worried about stereotyping, that others might spot a mismatch between her voice, an operatic soprano, and her appearance, which was not the sort of “petite white girl” who seemed to always get cast as ingnue or heroine in TV. “I didn’t feel like I had a place in musical theater because I didn"t see anyone who looked like me or sang like myself,” she said.
“Christine, are you alright?” a frightened ballet dancer turns to the heroine as the Phantom begins to reveal his terrifying presence in Act One.Before the epidemic and Kouatchou’s casting, the lyric had always been: “Your face, Christine, it’s white!”
The old, creepy Christine doll that stood in the Phantom’s lair, her features unmistakably white, also was out. On reopening night, a new doll, designed to be racially ambiguous, would be introduced.
Kouatchou had her first look at one of the new Christine wigs, which were created to match her hair texture, later that week. Kouatchou said, “It’s curlier and frizzier and I love it.”

What's y'all opinion on POTO west end Masquerade lyrics change? I personally find the broadway lyrics very hard to understand and very terribly written. Like what??? What do you all sing like that?! I just hope that they'll return the og lyrics but it's probably not going to happen any time soon.
A look into my Phantom design: Hannibal Princess
I haven't drawn or designed anything Phantom-y for a long while now. So I want to show some insight on my costume designing (I guess lmao)
I always want my Hannibal to be grand, very risqué (but no midriffs!) and kind of Belle Époque exoticism. Furthermore, I strive for 1880s bustle silhouette in my costumes so I started Hannibal scene with the Hannibal Princess because I love @motherfuckinghannibalprincess so much.
I took a bit of Björnson's design (mostly the iconic apron drape) and added my own flair with asymmetric bodice, strings of beads and elongated earrings that connect to each other under the wearer's head. The tiara is in a bandeau style with wacky center.
This picture features the bustle draping design and the early concept from 2020. The bustle style is inspired from late 1870s Harper's bazaar fashion plate that I will refit it on 1880s silhouette.
The early concept has so many Björnson's influence which I am not loving. (I mean who would want their own design to be a hard referenced version of the original anyway)

Christine updos seem to be a thing of the past for London, for both shows today Lily had her hair down all the way through, no more gathered/ponytail in masquerade and managers.
And since Eve’s wig seems to be down for masquerade as well, I think we can assume no one has an updo anymore.
