A few years ago a friend got me to read questionable content and described it as sort of slice of life centering around the integration of robots into human society. I was so fucking confused for so long. Early QC is centered around a not great love triangle and making fun of various trends and snobby indie rock people.
Having been into webcomics right when the medium was taking off circa 2000 makes for an interesting experience trying to come up with stuff you read as a kid that you’d actually recommend today. It’s like:
“No, not this one – it goes off the rails and gets super racist toward the end. And not that one, either; the guy who wrote it was convicted of child molestation in 2017, and some of the characterisation choices gain a very different subtext when you’re aware of the author’s proclivites. Hmm… how about this one? It’s got some really interesting worldbuilding, but I don’t recall much about the plot, I should re-read the archives to refresh my aaaaand there’s a weirdly sympathetic depiction of Hitler. Huh.”
