Spider Woman

Part One

Masterlist

“So you’re pretty new to Hollywood, correct?” Ellen asked as you sat on the couch facing her, about one hundred faces staring up at you waiting for your answer.

You can feel a bead of sweat drip down your spine. This is your first interview in front of a live studio audience, not to mention Ellen DeGeneres is also staring at you. You quickly threw out a little chuckle to agree with how fast this whirlwind of fame has hit.

“Um, yes definitely. I mean less than a year ago I was sitting in my bedroom in New Hampshire working at Sephora.” You stated and the audience gave a little laugh in response to you confession.

“So walk us through that, how did you get from your bedroom to this chair.” Ellen gestured to the leather loveseat you was currently situated on.

“Well it’s actually a pretty weird story. I never knew I wanted to get into acting. I went to community college and graduated with a behavioral science degree in the hope to go into social work. I was still looking for a job in my field so I had a part time job at Sephora as a cashier and I decided to fill up some of my spare time with acting classes. I was bored, saw the poster on my way out of the mall one day and figured, what the heck right? Not like I had much better to do. So I went and I did pretty good and I remember never feeling like going was something to just fill time. Like I genuinely enjoyed going. And one day the instructor comes up to me and tells me that there’s this audition for a part of a soap opera that she thought I would be perfect for. And at first I was like, girl no!” You said and the whole audience erupted in laughter along with Ellen. After letting them all settle down you continued. “But I decided, yanno why not? Like what do I have that’s keeping me here? So I went and I got the part. And I’m sure if you google it you can find hundreds of clips of me in the show. I ended up getting an agent in Boston and she hooked me up with like two or three TV ads and then unfortunately the show was canceled due to bad ratings and I was jobless again. And like a month later my agent calls me and tells me about this audition in LA, she goes, it’s a long shot but you fit the description perfectly and I mean what have we got to lose?” You pause to take a breath, you could feel yourself starting to talk fast. Something you always did when you spoke in front of crowds. Your mouth would start to get dry, you would stutter and choke on your words and eventually start to try to rush the words out. You quickly calmed yourself down and continued. “So I went, got a callback, got the part, and well you all know the rest.” You finished and Ellen smiled.

“And now you play Jessica Drew AKA Spider Women in Marvel’s latest film!” She announced as the poster for the film shot up to the screen behind you. The poster, which took a six hour shoot to get, consisted of you in the skin tight Spider Woman suit, standing to the side, New York City in the background.

You smiled and nodded along as the audience clapped.

“And you’re staring alongside a very impressive cast, being the new girl on set were you intimidated at all?” Ellen asked once the noise had gone down.

“Of course!” You laughed. “But I mean, don’t get me wrong the cast is absolutely amazing, so so talented and made me feel so at home. I learned so much from working with them, they all just treated me like a student and gave me an opportunity to learn under them rather than place themselves above me. And I can’t thank them enough for all the help they gave me.”

“I mean what is like working with such A-List celebrities such as Robert Downey Jr. and Harry Styles?” She asked and the crowd went up in applaud for what you’re assuming the mention of your love interest in the movie.

“Well, RDJ, I mean that’s insane. I mean RDJ, he’s so expensive.” You gapped and the audience laughed. “I’m so serious like his leg is more expensive than the state of Texas like it’s crazy. But he’s so talented and so funny. There wasn’t a day that we weren’t all laughing and having so much fun with him. Not to mention he’s so kind I mean he just took me right under his wing and showed me all the ropes of Hollywood. And Harry,” You started but the audience cut you off with a chorus of “OHHHHS”

“-Harry,” You continued “Is just the kindest soul to walk the earth, and also the biggest goof I’ve ever met. It’s actually really funny cause I was a huge One Direction fan growing up so meeting and working alongside him was very surreal.” You stated.

“Were you really? A One Direction fan?” Ellen asked and you nodded. “Who was your favorite?” She asked with a smirk.

“Oh! Don’t make me pick! I love them all. But I will say I actually was a huge Harry girl. And funny enough the producers knew that when they casted him. It’s actually a funny story so when we were going through the casting for John Hunt there was two readings. One with just the actor and the producers, to scout out who was actually talented and who fit the description well, and then one with me and whoever made the call back, to get a feeling for chemistry and a certain look for the couple. So I went in for the second reading and they didn’t tell me who was coming in next till he was like in my face. I recognized a few of the actors but most I really didn’t know. Until Harry walked in. I remember being so shocked I couldn’t even breath. I mean like Harry is my idol. I went to so many concerts and having him stand in front of me with his hand stretched out was like a slap in the face. I remember the producers and Patty the director all laughing off to the side knowing exactly what was going through my head. But I managed to get through the reading with a minimal amount of embarrassing moments.” You said and the crowd was still laughing.

“Well I’m sure the movie turned out amazing. It comes out in theaters in one week! So make sure to go see Spider Woman!” Ellen said turning to the audience and I smiled to the camera as well.

“Cut!” The guy from behind the camera yelled and in seconds the entire feeling to the room changed. People were rushing around, coming up and fixing things that were on the coffee table in front of you. Refilling and replacing the water that was sitting beside you. Just rushing around preparing for the next segment of the show.

“Was that your first time?” Ellen turned to you right after the camera stopped rolling.

“Was it that bad?” You laughed and she shook her head.

“No, it’s just after so long I can usually tell. You did good though, so props to you.” She laughed and you smiled, thanking her for letting you come on the show. You stood up and walked over to your manager Gavin. He was a cute little pudgy man whose appearance did not match his personality whatsoever.

Gavin Martin was a man who dressed strictly in gray suits with a tight red bow-tie around his neck. You’ve only ever seen him out of this outfit once and that was when you two shared a hotel room during Comic-Con and he was in his PJ’s. Which still actually looked really well put together. It was like the stereotypical matching button down pajama shirt and pants, something straight out of the movies. You would think he would be some strict, slightly sexist man who was really only in the business for the money, but he couldn’t be farther from that. Of course he wants money, who doesn’t. But he’s very much about giving the money back. Part of your contract is that for every job he gets you, you have to give 30% of the proceeds from said job to a charity of your choice. He also volunteers at a battered women's shelter on his days off. His twitter feed is filled with feminist pages and he’s obsessed with yoga. Also he lights up weed like crazy.

“Alright so, you’ve got the rest of the day off but you have a meeting with Sony tomorrow, one interview for BBC Radio 1 with Harry, and a fitting for your premiere dress. So get some rest, busy day tomorrow.” Gavin said looking at his iPad to go over the itinerary.

“Awesome.”

“Just another day in the life of Y/N Y/L/N.”
