A Star
The world was hit with devastating news as our beloved Jonghyun has left us. Shawols all around the world are grieving the loss of an angel.
Shinee is a group that I love and respect. Their music inspires me and they will always own a special place in my heart. For almost a whole day, I didn’t believe the news. I couldn’t. I didn’t accept it. But, after reading his final letter, I broke. To think that a man so selfless and inspiring could go through such hardships. I wish we had known. Maybe we could have done something to help him. But sadly, we can’t change the past.
Fellow Shawols, it is now our job to continue his legacy. Never forget him and never let any of his work go underappreciated. Spread love and appreciation. Just like Jonghyun taught us. Be kind to one another. Let us support Shinee in whatever decision they take. If they decide to disband, so be it. But, we will always, ALWAYS love and support them.
This goes out to each and every kpop fandom
The kpop industry is brutal. I suspect that each and every idol suffers/has suffered from mental illnesses and fail to recieve proper help. As fans, it is our jib to shower them with love. But also remember to remind them that if they fall, we will catch them. Remind them that we are proud of them. All of them. All their voice cracks and stumbled steps. All the awards they failed to recieve and all the times they cried on camera.
Because we love them. We love them so so much.
Today as I look to the sky, I see a star that has risen above us all. He is someone I strive to be like. He is someone who the world doesn’t deserve but who deserves the world.
Rest In Peace Jonghyun.

How much can society expect from one person? Having performers/idols/singers/rappers/dancers throwing themselves into huge spotlight doesn’t give you the right to expect anything from them. They are the artist, the creator. You have a choice as the public, to follow or to unfollow. Your “constructive criticisms” wouldn’t change anything in terms of their creation, but will leave a huge scar on the creator.
Jonghyun committed suicide because he thought that he isn’t talented, he is not at the level of expectation deemed by society. He felt pressured, and unsatisfied with himself, but he continued to work on his flawless “flaws”.
He’s tired now. He wants to give up because no matter how hard he works, society will never appreciate him; will never give him a chance, because they are to suck up with stereotypes and trends. They have forgotten about originality.
“But he has millions of fan,” you said.
Let me tell you this, no matter how much compliment you receive, with just one hate mail or what people call “constructive criticisms” will destroy the creators’ mood because all they have in mind is to satisfy everyone, and make everyone happy.
Performers are humans too and human makes mistakes. They get sick and tired of trying, overthink at times and feel pain too. We, as fans/society/public, should appreciate performing arts as it is. It’s ok to have different taste. You can always go search for something suitable for you instead of leaving criticisms or trying to change someone’s style.
Before it’s too late everybody. Do something about it.
그녀에게 사랑은 한순간의 느낌일 뿐
To her, love is just a feeling of one moment
So sad to hear about the passing of Jonghyun. If you are struggling with depression, please remember that you’re never alone and get help. Rip Jonghyun, you will be missed.
