It was 06:02 when I finished listening to Indigo for the first time.
I've been depressed for as long as I can remember, struggling with anorexia and bulimia since I was 11, and self-harm since I was 12. My life has been a muddle of people coming and going, and me trying to find my footing.
I found bts in a moment of need, in a deep depression where I thought there was no escape. But there was, and Namjoon with his silly little dimples saved my life.
I'm 21 now, and I find the timing of his ode to my twenties album significant. This album is beautiful, soulful, melancholic, and to me? It's an echo of my own troubles and issues.
I'm reminded of people changing and leaving, family and friends who I thought would be in my life forever bidding goodbye. I'm reminded of the periods in my life when I just wanted to burn as bright as possible, even if it killed me. I'm reminded of my own troubling connections with people I'm supposed to love, never feeling like I'm able to let them in. I'm reminded of times when I felt like I was losing my grip and falling deeper.
But Indigo gives me hope and that's more powerful than anything else. This is a promise.
As Namjoon said, "there's sadness, desperation, devastation, there's happiness, hope, everything. But when you get old, it gets cut⦠We have to feel pain and have to experience many things. But after that in 30s and 40s, if you got so many branches in your 20s⦠you will someday become a beautiful tree by your 30s and 40s"
