I'm still super disappointed that S2 of Stranger Things didn't have any Power Station tracks. They were part of 1984, guys. Maybe in S3 someone will get obsessed with Robert Palmer's Riptide album.

I’ve always preferred Robert Palmer to David Bowie and I have to roll my eyes when people constantly mention Bowie, I was never crazy about him. To me Robert Palmer had better vocals, better song choices and better genre pulling but that’s just me. I’ve always admired Palmer’s devotion to R&B. I’m a huge Robert Palmer fan. Sorry everyone!

On this day in music history: June 22, 1988 - “Heavy Nova”, the tenth studio album by Robert Palmer is released. Produced by Robert Palmer, it is recorded at Logic Studios in Milan, Italy and Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas from January - April 1988. The album is Palmer’s first for new label EMI Records after ending his fifteen year association with Island Records. The title is inspired by Palmer’s fondness for both heavy metal and bossa nova music. Using some of the same musicians that played on his previous album “Riptide”, Palmer handles the production chores himself when Bernard Edwards is unavailable. The album features numerous guest musicians including arranger Claire Fischer, guitarist Eddie Martinez (Meatloaf, Run DMC, Mick Jagger), Tom “T-Bone” Wolk (Hall & Oates), famed Brazilian percussionist Dom Um Romão, and keyboardist Garth Hudson of The Band. It spins off three singles including the top five smash “Simply Irresistible” (#2 Pop, #1 Mainstream Rock). “Simply Irresistible” wins Palmer his second Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance in 1989. The song is also featured in an ad campaign for Pepsi featuring the singer and many of the same female models used in the music video. “Heavy Nova” peaks at number thirteen on the Billboard Top 200, and is certified Platinum in the US by the RIAA.
