Draig, I could hug you very warmly for making such a beautifully concise comment that sums up Roman’s anger issues so perfectly. Everything you’ve written just now wasn’t something I was able to convey so eloquently but you struck so many chords it needed responding to before immortalizing it on a wall of fame. Roman is a DEEPLY angry man with many issues thanks to his parents. By angry, I don’t mean road rage levels of anger. That’s a calm swell over the beach compared to the sheer, blinding wrath he feels whenever that red mist descends. Whenever Roman gets angry, it’s a miracle that a Red Lantern Ring doesn’t immediately descend from space to latch onto his finger. His parent’s selfishness and incompetence left Roman a violently disturbed, untrusting man who struggles with the most basic tasks even to this very day. Regarding Bruce and Viktor, though they ended up becoming very different people as a result of their parent’s deaths, were at least blessed with loving memories of them. Roman on the other hand was regarded as a burden and treated as such from an early age by people who had no business raising children whatsoever, and their behaviour resulted in their own deaths when Roman finally snapped and burned them alive in the family home just after he turned seventeen. It’s no excuse for being the way he is. Roman owns being a shitty man who frankly deserves a bullet in the head if anybody had the balls to shoot him but the way he was treated growing up most definitely had a significant impact on the man he is today, somebody who has buried a lot of self-hatred and has difficulties contending with his personal inadequacies and demons in healthy ways.

I'm gonna assume you mean @masquenoire, but correct me if I'm wrong!
So, way back when, before I made a blog, before I even was sure I wanted to make a blog, I was checking out some blogs that interacted with a friend's muse. And all the sudden I saw this here masquenoire blog in my recommends, and I was like "oh heck yea, I love Black Mask, I didn't think anyone played him! :o".
And even though the blog was a little new at the time, I LOVED IT. Chip, your writing is utterly fantastic. I got a little more confidence and inspiration reading such your prose that I got my little writer bones together and started my own blog. Your style is emotive and clever and sharp, you write these amazing paragraphs of lore that go in depth about all the big and little things that build Roman as a character. Even the small headcanons are given such wonderful attention, it makes everything feel so natural!
And that's not even getting into your actual interaction posts! The way you write through his gaze is fascinating, you always have such a good handle on both his internal and external voice through every emotion and situation, from giving nuance to his anger to even working in his softer moments or displaying his shrewd business skills, you make him feel so rounded. Even quiet moments on his own feel immersive, and it's clear that you put a lot of passion and thought into your writing!
Your portrayal is genuinely one of my favorites, even amongst his canon ones, and I feel so spoiled getting to read all this good writing for free!
