You've heard that old saying about people who are more beautiful in life than in their photographs? Schiff is a bit like that for me. I think hearing him live he sounds a much better player than his albums might suggest (with the exception of that brilliant Janacek album), something he might agree with given his Beethoven cycle recorded live. But even there I think "you had to be there", most probably.

Well, that's all talk. This is lovely.
