Remember in fourth grade when your teacher got fed up and told the class they would lose a minute off recess/lunch for every minute they kept talking, and you were quiet but the class kept talking? And you felt this righteous fury that they kept talking and the teacher kept taking minutes off recess/lunch and you were so hungry or so excited for recess, but your class just won’t shut up and the teacher isn’t backing down and you end up missing recess or getting barely any lunch time, even though you were following the rules?
For a lot of us, this was our first experience at how selfish people can be (Also our first experience of Corporal punishment, but we’ll get into that later). That feeling of unfairness and rage at the people actively doing bad things knowing that others would suffer? Does it feel familiar?
It does for me. I feel that feeling right now as I miss it on prom, graduation, a real college experience, the nice weather, dating, shopping, amusement parks, and a hell of a lot of other stuff because selfish people refuse to wear masks and stay home when they’re sick.
I’m missing out on a lot right now because people are going out with masks, not washing their hands, throwing parties, dining out, and doing everything they can to break covid rules.
We have masks for sale everywhere. We have doordash and instacart and postmates and ubereats and zoom and hand sanitizer and Netflix and books and cell phones and cable television and Just Dance Revolution and people STILL find excuses to go out and spread this killer virus because they have a main character complex and can’t comprehend the idea that other people are affected by their actions.

I hate group chats with so many people
but I want dirt on everyone in them
So I have to stay in them
