In the 40’s

- You were his girlfriend for eight months, it was serious between the two of you and you tried to be careful but c’mon, it’s the forties so… Avoiding a pregnancy wasn’t the easiest thing!

- You understood you were pregnant when your mom started to suspect something… She didn’t know you felt nauseous every morning, even if she pointed out your breast got bigger and she used to keep track of your period. Having a baby out of wedlock was so inappropriate at that time! Plus, you were younger than Bucky.

- When a nurse confirmed your pregnancy, you started to panic. You were afraid of your family reactions, of Bucky’s, of your friends, etc. To you, it was like the end of the world.

- Crying and being a mess when you were alone.

- Thinking about how to tell the news to James.

- Finally, you told him when you went to his apartment. He was a bit surprised, but took it really well! He wasn’t the kind of guy to have an excessive reaction, he was simply happy. After that, he asked your hand to your father and you two very quickly married to avoid suspicions that the baby was conceived before the wedding. It was a small ceremony: only your families and very close friends. Then, you moved into his home, you started to make plans about what to buy for the baby, you discussed a lot about the names and the education of baby Barnes.

- Always touching your belly during the pregnancy and he prepared everything for the baby’s arrival.

- When you gave birth to your beautiful daughter, he almost cried and never let her out of your sight. He used to speak and sing to her all the time.

- Maybe it was weird, but he was fascinated when you breastfed the little girl and, sometimes, was a little jealous of this special bond you had with Y/D/N.

- When she started to eat “solid” aliments, he was so proud to feed her, always making little games to make her eat everything.

- More than once, she peed on him with her little angelic smile and her bright blue eyes shining. She wasn’t his copy carbon, but she looked like him: she had his perfect eyes, his nose and his hair color. He was never angry against her, even if she laughed after she urinated on him.

- Being patient when didn’t say “Dada” right after “Mama”. Nonetheless, he sweetly encouraged her to.

“Baby doll, say ‘dada’.”

“Haha.”

He couldn’t help but laughed, he shook his head.

“Say ‘dada’ or daddy won’t sing you a lullaby tonight.”

Her big eyes opened wide and she gasped.

“DADA DADA DADA!!” she screamed before he kissed all her face.

- Y/D/N was a daddy’s girl, she was so fond of him and she always wanted him to sing her lullabies, cuddles and kisses from him.

- She started to walk fast and she always wanted to make her daddy proud. Her little chubby legs tried to run towards her father.

“Come on, Y/D/N, daddy is waiting for you!”

He was always careful that she didn’t hurt herself, but when she fell on her butt, she laughed and reached out for his arms.

“My sweetheart…” he cooed before he took her in his arms.

- Every time he came home after work, she jumped on his legs to have a cuddle because she missed him.

- She was his everything and never failed to ask you if you needed something for her or yourself. He wanted his girls to be happy.

- Well… It was before the war… Because he never came home…

- When he had to explain to her he was obliged to leave, she cried, even after he promised her he would come back. He tried to explain things to her, but it was complicated and she was only two and a half.

- The three of you cried when he left to serve his country. It tore your hearts. Mini Barnes refused to let her daddy go…

- Eventually, over the weeks, she accepted his decision a bit more and she was so joyful when you read the letters he sent.

- He missed his girls a lot. Dreamed often of you and wrote letters every time he could.

- Then, the letters stopped.

- She was only two when the bad news came: James Buchanan Barnes died like a hero. You lost your husband and Y/D/N lost her loving father.

 Now

- When you missed your periods and started having nauseas, you didn’t wait to make a pregnancy test. All your doubts were confirmed: you were about to have a baby. Your first baby, but not Bucky’s first.

- Of course, you knew he was married and had a daughter in the 40s. So it took you time to find the courage to tell him. When you came into his room to tell him, he surprised you.

“I already know you’re pregnant.”

“H-How… I-I mean…” you stammered

“Your breasts got bigger, you felt nauseous the mornings, you have this light stomach baby bump.”

- You thought he was going to tell you to get an abortion, that he didn’t want to become a father again. Instead, he kissed you and cuddled you in silence.

- He was lost. Very lost. He had the impression of betraying his first wife and his daughter…

- But he couldn’t ask you to kill that baby in your belly. He knew he had to start a new life, but it didn’t mean he had to forget. He never could.

- He was so impressed with the new technologies like the pregnancy tests, the ultrasounds that permit to know the baby’s gender, its weight and height.

- You gave him a daughter and he felt like in paradise because, for once, he truly completely felt happy since Hydra took him.

- He read a lot of books about pregnancy since it wasn’t a big thing in his time.

- Spoke a lot to the baby in your belly.

- He chose to call her “Rebecca Winifred” in honor of his sister and his mother.

- He was as perfect as he was with his first daughter, but he always panic, he’s afraid she would be taken away from him by Hydra.

- Was so happy to bottlefeed her, it felt so nice to him.

- He would educate her differently since it’s not the 40s anymore and because that’s the kind of thing you build together.

- As she has grown up, he taught her a lot of things from his time and that only rare people knew.

- Training her to be a strong and independent woman without annoying her, he would understand when she needed a break for a few days or weeks.

- Giving her all the possibilities in her life: whatever jobs she wanted to practice, whatever will be her sexual orientation for examples, he’ll always be there for her.

- A bit strict about dating and being in a relationship with someone.

- But, he would be the best dad ever.
