PAIRING: seo changbin x reader GENRE: kinda enemies to lovers? reader and changbin are not fond of each other WC: 858 WARNING: mentions of drinking
You let out a deep sigh when you hear a loud roar from the front door. You crane your neck to see Changbin walk into the room, exhaling to mentally prepare yourself for the disruption that's about to abuse your eardrums.
You were already exhausted from the endless class today and your best friend just had to drag you to a housewarming party. Even worse, Changbin is here (but of course, he's here, he's the life of the party after all). Everyone on the campus knew that about him and had to invite him to every party. Though you've known him since orientation, your friend groups are totally different. However, it's hard to miss his presence in the room, and deep down you admit that it's a little bit empty without hearing his voice roaring through the room.
Minutes later, a group of people starts to gather in a circle, spinning bottle for a game of truth or dare. That's your cue to leave, but before you could reach the front door, someone dragged you back. You groan but follow them anyway. A couple of rounds wouldn't hurt, right?
But luck wasn't definitely on your side tonight because the bottle landed on you on the first try, leaving you with the choices of truth or dare, or drink, if you would. You choose truth and people come up with the question of, "one thing you really want to say to someone in this circle."
You look around, thinking of a non-offensive thing to say. But suddenly you caught Changbin's gaze, and before you could even think, you said; "Please, for the love of God, stop yelling."
Laughter erupts from the group before Changbin returns your gaze. He heard this joke a thousand times before, friends or no friends, usually didn't do any damage to his pride. But to hear it come out of you, why does it offend him?
"Why?!" he yelled then, making you close your eyes, sighing in defeat. "Why can't I speak the way I like?!"
You just shake your head before spinning the bottle. The game goes on for a couple more rounds, and you're starting to enjoy it. But at the same time, you feel a little bit lightheaded. You excuse yourself to grab a glass of water from the kitchen, massaging your scalp. You took a chance to slip out and go home without noticing everybody, passing out as soon as your head touched the pillow.
You're awakened a few hours later by the knock on your door. Groaning, you walk towards it with your eyes half closed. Trying to balance yourself with the pound in your head.
You yank the door open, unfazed.
"Why are you here?" you ask, voice hoarse. Changbin looked down at his feet, flustered by your appearance.
"Just checking on you," he answered quietly. He realized that you looked a little bit pale during the game. He assures himself that it's just the lighting, but he starts to worry when you excuse yourself and don't come back.
"Well, do you want to come in or that's that?" you ask. He looked at you funny, wondering whether or not you've gained full consciousness.
"You sure you're okay?" he asks again, worries laced his voice. He even asked your friends earlier if you had another agenda and planned to leave early, but no one seems to know either. You blink, processing the scene before your eyes widen in surprise.
"Why are you here?!" you ask once again, bewildered. Your hands grab on the front of your cardigan, tightening it. "Did I just invite you to come in?" you ask again in a smaller voice.
"You kinda did, yeah," he answered, meeting your eyes. You groan, pressing your temple. "I'll just leave then, now that I know you're okay."
"Wait," you stopped him. "Earlier, I wasn't thinking... I'm sorry if it makes you uncomfortable. You're actually nice when you talk softly like this."
He blinks. You mirrored his action before covering your mouth with your hands, cursing to yourself.
"You're cute," he said, smiling to himself before shaking his head. He only drank soda all night but why does he feel lightheaded now?
"Okay, let's not..." you start, trying to choose your words carefully. "This is stupid," you murmur to yourself. Your face grew hot just rewinding the scene from 5 minutes before. The same happened to Changbin who starts to scratch his neck. You were about to open your mouth again when Changbin called your name, making you look up.
"Let's just talk tomorrow," he offered. You open your mouth, thinking of what to say next.
"On one condition," you smirk. He sighed and raised his eyebrows at you, demanding to hear it. "No yelling or any loud voice."
"Can't promise you that, darling," he responded, the corner of his mouth lifted a bit.
You lower your head, flustered by the sudden pet name. He waits there, waiting for you to tell him off. But instead, you said, "I hate you," before retreating inside, closing the door on him.
He smiles again, whispering to himself, "We'll see about that."
