Ok. So I was bored and I randomly started playing Smash Ultimate again. I got finished playing a match using Ridley and then it occurred to me... Ridley and Sephiroth could be a neat crack pairing.
Ok now here me out...
In the context of Smash, the two have a surprising amount of connections:
Both are villains that have been heralds of their respective franchises’ villainous matriarchs; Mother Brain for Ridley and Jenova for Sephiroth
Both are comparatively the most evil villains in the context of the smash world: Ridley is a bloodthirsty sadist who loves the thrill of murder of murder, and Sephiroth is a fallen hero who has murdered hundreds, psychologically scars and wants to destroy the planet like Jenova did.
Both are in a way cosmic space horrors. Ridley is some sort of space dragon/ pterodactyl thing that can breath plasma and regenerate by eating flesh, and Sephiroth is actually a collection of Jenova cells that come together to resemble his original body.
Both have a sadistic side to them and are ax crazy murders, though Sephiroth is much better at hiding it.
Both have psychologically scarred their respective protagonists and have managed to come back multiple times just to spite them: not to mention both have killed their respective protagonists’ mothers.
Also, they both tried to kill Mario
but Ridley actually succeeded.
I don’t know, I think the idea of crackshipping these two would be kinda funny. Like a dark version of Sidlink or something
Another thought, It’s a popular idea in the Smash fandom that Pichu has befriended both Ridley and Sephiroth. So Smash Pichu now has two dads
*The various smashers are convening at Skyworld before going to fight Galeem and Dharkon. Samus finishes talking to Cloud and scowls over at Ridley*
Ridley: Oh hell, it’s my ex.
Pit: Wait, You dated Samus?! Gross.
Ridley: Do I look INSANE to you!?
*Camera zooms past Samus to the far end of the room where Sephiroth is just standing menacingly in the corner. Sephiroth slowly turns towards Ridley’s direction, grins and winks. *
*Ridley hastily shields his face with his wings*
Ridley: Is he still looking?
