I was a little stressed about job applications and ended up watching the entirety of The Onion's 2012 show, "Sex House," and I wish there were analyses of this over-a-decade-old internet show. It was a good horror comedy parody of reality tv, where contestants on a Love Island/Big Brother style show slowly realize that they are trapped and running out of food as the show keeps trying to push them into sex. It's definitely something to check Does the Dog Die before watching. Plus some depictions of pansexuality and asexuality that play into problematic tropes. While it seems like other reality tv parodies tend to focus on specific tropes or on the dystopian surveillance aspect, this show more satirized the exploitation of the contestants. I genuinely think it's interesting the way the contestants' suffering is, to the host, an annoying obstacle to overcome by any means other than actually meeting the contestants' physical and emotional needs. As the house rots around them and they waste away and the show becomes increasingly intrusive on their lives and bodies until it suddenly abandons them... I genuinely don't think I've seen another reality tv satire quite like that?
