Author's Note:

Hi friends, it's been a long long time since I've written anything on tumblr but! I'm a lot less burnt out now, and I miss writing. So here we are, three years and a new blog (you may have known me as lirinstaalem) later, writing for Shigaraki. He lives on in my heart. 💙 As a forewarning, in this AU, there are no Quirks, Shigaraki is just that - Shigaraki Tomura, a junior in college. I'm going to be honest, this series is going to be entirely based off me and my personal experience at college, written one day at a time. Please enjoy. Manga pannel from @shigarakisankles, and divider by @plum98

Contents: College!AU, all characters depicted are STRICTLY 18+, no use of "Y/N"/any other variants, and possibly wildly ooc characters. I apologize for this.

Summary: Entering your second year at college, only a few months after being broken up with, you weren't expecting anything special. Especially not in the romance department. But then a quiet, but friendly-enough boy on your floor catches your attention faster than you would like to admit. And oh, boy, are you in deep.

 : 1

Moving into your sophomore college dorm wasn’t nearly as exciting as it was during your freshman year. Freshman year had been all giggles and excitedly greeting your roommate, excitedly setting up your half of the room, coordinating aesthetics to look cutesy and academic. Both of your parents had taken off work to help you move furniture around and get settled in, and everyone had been teary-eyed when they left you and your roommate alone. Everyone on your floor had been friendly, ish, and were about as giggly and excited as you were, and the floor meeting had been welcoming and informational.

Second year… not as much. Only your dad had taken off work, and it was really only to help you move furniture and get everything out of your car into the room, and you suspected that it was only because you had stupidly slammed your thumb in the door of your car a few days ago and it was now swollen and splinted. Not broken, thank goodness, but still painful as all get out.

He left with a hug, and a quick goodbye, and left you to pretty much fend for yourself. You rubbed at your eyes and quickly started unpacking, starting with any documents you needed for the year. Things were actually going pretty well, considering you were alone. Your roommate hadn’t arrived yet, so you had the ability to pick which side of the room you wanted and where you wanted everything. There was a small commotion outside in the hall, but it wasn’t any of your business, so you were content to stay inside, introvert that you were. That was until -

“FUCK!”

You jumped as the expletive rang through the hall, yelled by a raspy, masculine voice. You knew the dorm buildings were coed, but you had no idea if the floors were coed or not, but it sounded like it if there were boys running amok on your level, shouting. You sighed in resignation - last year the boys had only been above you and were annoying as hell. Living a whole year with them on the same floor?

…What was worse than hell? You didn’t know. You stuck your head out of your door and saw two men, presumably the culprits. One was lying on his back on the hard linoleum floor, the other wheezing with his hands on his knees. The man on the floor was making a vaguely-scowly expression at the laughing man, his pale blue hair spread out around his head like a halo.

“Oh my fuckin’ God, Shiggy, you’re an idiot!” Laughing Man exclaimed, inhaling deeply before laughing just as hard again. Piercings pulled at his open mouth as he cackled, fluffy black hair bouncing almost imperceptibly with each breath. He looked like every scene girl's wet dream, dripped out in all black, shining piercings and inky tattoos, his electric blue eyes the only contrast.

The man on the floor, “Shiggy”, grumbled something that sounded a lot like, “Shut up,” as he curled in on himself and hopped to his feet, looking more than a little embarrassed. He was wearing all black, matching Laughing Man in a more casual way, in a set of soft black sweatpants and a matching hoodie. He radiated vibes of “I haven’t spoken to a love interest before, let alone touched one.” Before you could stop yourself, you called out.

“You okay?”

Both men turned their attention to you, only just now noticing your presence. “Shiggy” huffed and looked away, embarrassed, and Laughing Man smiled at you. It wasn’t the most comforting smile you’d ever seen. “He’s fine,” Laughing Man said. “He’s just an idiot who slipped and fell. Name’s Dabi, and this is Shigaraki.”

You stepped out of your room a little more, leaning over to poke your head out becoming uncomfortable. “Nice to meet you,” you called back, introducing yourself. They both nodded at you, moving out of the way temporarily as someone with several bags and carts and suitcases scuttled past.

“We’re in room 301, if you ever want some company,” Dabi says, once the person is out of sight, hooking his thumb over his shoulder towards what you assumed was their room. You nodded and smiled at the two of them, and another sentence tumbled out of your mouth before you could stop and think about what you were saying, again.

“I might just take you up on that.”

Dabi chuckled, and nudged Shigaraki, who was finally looking in your direction, scratching at the back of his neck.

“Cool,” was all he said, and you didn’t even know if you heard him properly he had said it so quietly. You smiled at them and then ducked back into your room, shaking off the distraction and how… quite honestly pathetic Shigaraki had appeared. You understood that people were quiet or introverted, hell you were too, but he had only said one word to you, barely. He was entirely unable to meet your gaze, and if you were closer you could have maybe discerned if he had been blushing or not.

Good thing your type was pathetic men who’d never even talked to a girl, let alone kissed one.

 : 1

Several hours later, your roommate had arrived and you had helped her unpack, neglecting your own side of the room. Being a junior, Hanami’s mother had left her to settle in on her own, and you were itching to just help. So you had rearranged furniture, hung fairy lights, and subsequently realized you had forgotten a good amount of your decorations at home, much to your dismay. You did your best to shake it off; you were going back home over the weekend anyway.

Hanami was a good roommate already, you had decided the moment she walked through the door. About the same height as you, she had short, wavy brown hair and an easygoing smile. She was also incredibly generous, offering to buy you food and even letting you use some of her decor in the short time you didn’t have yours. You both went out for lunch and to gather snacks for the next few weeks, spending a good amount of money at the local supermarket. Going shopping while hungry was never a good idea, but you knew your future selves would be grateful.

It only wasn’t until when you were finally unpacking, that you realized something with only a slight tinge of abject horror. “Fuck,” you mumbled, moving from one box to another, searching a little desperately. “Where are they…?”

“What are you looking for?” Hanami asked from her bed, putting the finishing touches on her faux-vine decorated wall.

“I forgot. Hangers.” You say, sighing in resignation. “Fuck me.”

Hanami pouted and hummed sympathetically from her spot. “Aw, I’m sorry. I would offer you some of mine but I’m using them all.”

You shake your head and accept the fact that none of your sweaters or pants were going to be hung up until the next Monday. “It’s fine, I’m the one who forgot them.”

You spend the next few minutes trying to shove your jeans into a small drawer, one too small for the amount of pants you had brought with you and had intended to hang. After several unsuccessful attempts, you text your parents, asking if they knew where your hangers were; you had bought a set specifically for college. Your mom responded almost instantly, reminding you that they had gone into the guest room for your grandmother, only to be forgotten when September rolled around. It wouldn’t have been a problem, you were going home on Friday anyway, but you were a stickler for your clothes not getting wrinkled. You sat on your relatively uncomfortable chair, when an idea popped into your head. You didn’t know how well-supplied boys would be, but it was better than sitting there and wallowing, right?

“I’ll be right back,” you tell Hanami, pulling on your sneakers and heading out the door. You hear a faint “okay!” from behind you as you scamper down the hall, looking for room 301.

When you do eventually stumble on it, (seriously, how was a dorm this convoluted? It was supposed to just house people for God’s sake) you hesitate. Was asking people you just met for hangers too forward? You rolled your shoulders to get rid of any nerves and knocked on the door without too many second thoughts, swallowing nervously.

Several seconds of rapid shuffling and someone, Dabi it sounded like, shouted, “Just a sec!”

You stood there and waited for a few more seconds before the door was almost violently ripped open, barely, and to your surprise Shigaraki was standing there. He took up most of the miniscule opening, blocking your view further into the room.

“Oh, hi,” you said quietly.

Shigaraki opened his mouth, as if to say something, but all that came out was a squeaky, “What?”

He started scratching at his neck, like he had been in the hallway earlier.

“I uh,” you hesitated, ashamed all of a sudden. “I was wondering if you had any spare hangers? I forgot literally all of mine at home, and I don’t really have any other friends in the building… I swear I’ll give them back to you next week.”

Shigaraki stared at you blankly, almost as if he hadn’t heard you, and you shifted your weight from foot to foot awkwardly. You heard a cough from inside the room, and that seemed to snap Shigaraki out of whatever daze he was in.

“Yeah, sure,” he mumbled, stepping away, leaving the door open just a smidge. You peered into the room, noticing how dark it was inside.

A heavy duty gaming pc tower took up a good majority of the university-issued desk, and the remaining space was already covered in… junk. Monster cans, mostly, but a few empty bowls of microwave ramen were scattered around. How on God’s green earth had he gotten the time to accumulate that much trash?

You didn’t have any more time to think about it, however, as Shigaraki popped back up, a handful of hangers clutched in his long, thin fingers. “Here,” he muttered, shoving them in your direction.

“Thanks,” you said, smiling gratefully at him. “Did you get an early move in clearance?”

Why the fuck did you ask that? What was wrong with you, holy shit. He was going to slam the door in your face and never want to talk to you again.

“Yeah,” Shigaraki said after only a moment’s hesitation. “How did you know?”

“I uh.” Now it’s your turn to hesitate. “I saw your gaming tower. That must have taken a while to set up.”

It was a shitty excuse of a lie, you knew that. But even if Shigaraki knew that, which he most certainly had to, he didn’t comment.

Instead, he nodded, but he didn’t open the door further or invite you in. You both stood there awkwardly for a moment, and then you nodded and smiled sheepishly at him. “Well, I’ll be off. Thanks again for the hangers, I’ll give them back to you after I go home and get my own.”

Shigaraki nodded back at you, and closed the door as you took a step back, waiting a second longer just in case. The door didn’t open again, and you didn’t know why you wanted it to. Instead, you heard a long suffering sigh, a cackle, and the sound of something heavy hitting springs.

You waited for another few seconds, and then turned around to try and find your way back to your room. It took less time than you had expected, and Hanami was now sitting on her bed, scrolling on her phone. She looked up brightly when you entered.

“Oh hey, you found hangers!”

You smiled and waved said hangers triumphantly. “Yeah, I made a few friends earlier so they lent me some.”

“Oh, that’s lucky!” Hanami seemed to radiate positivity, and it spread to you quickly. You soon forgot about the odd but somehow endearing interaction with the boy down the hall, his seemingly permanently pink cheeks filed away to think about for later.

End Notes: I really hope everyone who reads this can enjoy, I just want to write something feel goody and relaxing. Please feel free to ask me questions about this AU, or to even criticize my characterization of either Dabi or Shigaraki. I want this to be as accurate as it can be. Thank you for reading! 💙

Author's Note: Hi friends, second part up on time? What? Who am I, god? Anyway, it's Toga's debut in today's piece, I hope you enjoy :)

Word Count: 2046

Summary: Entering your second year at college, only a few months after being broken up with, you weren't expecting anything special. Especially not in the romance department. But then a quiet, but friendly-enough boy on your floor catches your attention faster than you would like to admit. And oh, boy, are you in deep.

 : 2

Waking up the next morning wasn’t as difficult as you thought it would be. Gentle sunlight streamed in through your windows, and all was quiet. It definitely wasn’t normal for your expectations of college, last year your roommate had insisted on blaring all sorts of TV shows and movies or music at any hour she pleased. You hadn’t minded, since whenever you were actually studying she had put earbuds in, but the silence was certainly a new sensation.

You took your time getting up, as your first class was only at 11am, which gave you ample time to wake up and rub the sleep from your eyes, and maybe hang out for a bit on your phone before taking a shower, and doing your makeup. You then arranged your hair the way you liked, poking at a strand that just wouldn’t lay right until you gave up, leaving at 10:30 to get to the building on time. Things were actually going really well, considering.

You got to class entirely too early, and resigned yourself to sitting on the floor in front of the doors as you waited for the professor or other students to show up. You weren’t alone for long, however, as a bubbly looking girl in as much pink as she could have had on skipped up. Her ashy blonde hair was tied up in two messy moon buns, and she had the cheeriest look on her face.

“Hi!” She crowed, waving at you on the floor. “Is this oceanography? Room 231? I’m Himiko Toga, by the way, nice to meet you! You can call me Toga.”

You looked up at her and waved back. “Yeah, I think so. At the very least it’s room 231.”

“Cool!” She brightened. “I’m a freshman, so I’m still learning my way around. This campus is so big! Especially compared to my highschool, which was only one building. I was afraid I’d be late.”

Toga continues chattering for a few minutes, putting her backpack (also pink), down on the ground to give her shoulders a rest as she talks about how she was supposed to dorm, how she had several friends here which was a major reason as to why she even chose this school, and how excited she was to make new friends, and would you be hers?

You couldn’t help but get caught up in her infectious positivity, and before long you were yapping along with her, of course you’d be her friend. And then it wasn’t long until the professor, an older woman with graying hair who walked slowly and talked with the same cadence, shuffled up to the doors and asked you and Toga to open them as she dragged a cart behind her on a dolly. The three of you settled into the room, the professor making small talk with Toga about her experience with college so far and the first few introductory days as a freshman. You were setting up your computer, so completely focused on trying to get the damn wifi to work, that you didn’t notice when the door opened and someone slipped in. But Toga definitely noticed, and she squealed, making your head jerk up.

“Tomura! I can’t believe you’re in the same class as me, already! This is gonna be so fun!” Toga nearly climbed over the tables to get to the man, wrapping her arms around his torso affectionately.

Shigaraki, to his credit, didn’t brush her off immediately, and even wiggled one of his arms free to awkwardly give her a side hug back. She let go as soon as he started trying to pry himself free.

“Hi, Toga,” Shigaraki greeted, much more quietly than Toga had. It was then that he had noticed you, and he gave you a few quick glances before looking away, moving further into the room to sit next to Toga. He gave the professor a quick nod and introduced himself before setting up his own computer, tuning Toga out as she shook your shoulder lightly.

“This is one of the friends I was talking about! His name is Shigaraki Tomura, but I call him Tomura because we’re besties,” she explained excitedly, and you didn’t really have the heart to tell her that you two had already met. Before you could say anything, however, Shigaraki spoke up in that soft, raspy tone of his.

“We met yesterday.”

Toga gasped excitedly, clapping as she smiled brightly. “Ohmygod, really? Ooh that’s so exciting! Now I have two besties in the same class, we can study together!”

Shigaraki glanced at you then, shrugging before turning back to his computer screen. The professor had been setting things up this entire time, and there was a powerpoint on the screen about plate tectonics. Several other students you didn’t know had also been steadily filtering in, taking up most of the seats around your little trio.

“Sure,” you told Toga, motioning for her to sit down. Class would be starting soon, it was 10:58. “I don’t mind if Shigaraki doesn’t.”

“I don’t,” he said quietly, and Toga took that as her signal to whip out her phone and make a group chat, already texting emojis in it with speed. “Put your phone away,” he muttered, pulling out his own phone to clear the now 10 notifications from the group chat. You sighed and finally got connected to the wifi, just as the last student came in sheepishly and sat down in the front of class, and the professor started introducing herself before roll call.

 : 2

50 minutes later, and some very confusing instructions and explanations from the professor later, you were dismissed for the campus’s common hour.

“Let’s get lunch together!” Toga pleaded, already bouncing on her feet to get going as you and Shigaraki put your laptops away and stood up.

“Sounds good to me,” you agreed, following Toga out of the building. Shigaraki hadn’t said anything, but he followed you both out to the path without protest, so you took it as a sign that he was also down.

And so, the three of you made your merry way down to the commons, where there were several food chains open, along with… almost every other member of school. It was crowded and hot and loud, and you winced, almost losing sight of Toga as she dragged you along like she knew the place like the back of her hand. Which, was weird the more that you thought about it, because wasn’t she a freshman?

Either way, you wished for earplugs or something, scrunching your shoulders up to avoid touching anyone and making yourself as small as possible. Toga didn’t seem to notice, despite looking over her shoulder several times, and you tried not to be too annoyed. She was probably just excited and hungry. Shigaraki, however, did notice, and he held his sweater-clad elbow out for you to hold onto wordlessly. You take it gratefully, fingers curling into the soft fabric and trying to ignore how fucking solid he felt underneath, despite his lanky build. God you were touch starved.

You swallowed heavily and let Shigaraki somewhat bulldoze his way through the crowd. He was pretty tall and in his all black outfit he was more than a little intimidating, so people got out of his way like you were both surrounded by an invisible, protective bubble. You clung onto him tightly, incredibly grateful that people were less inclined to bump into you or push past you now that you were hanging off of Shigaraki’s arm.

Eventually, you finally caught up to Toga, who had somehow already bought herself a serving of sushi and a strawberry Fanta (sidenote, who actually liked those things? You had tried one during your freshman year and were barely able to finish the damn thing). She beamed up at the two of you, and was about to say something when she saw you hanging off of the crook of Shigaraki’s arm, and you let go like he had burnt you. Toga’s mouth twitched almost imperceptibly, and then she was moving on.

“I’m gonna go find us a place to sit!” She chirped, leaving you and Shigaraki behind, again.

You sighed and motioned for him to go ahead of you, which he took, also getting a container of sushi, and a monster, before checking out. You thought he was going to leave you behind to fend for yourself, but he stopped just outside the little cafe, waiting. You did your best to hide your smile as you acquired your own food and drink, paying for them and smiling at the cashier who looked like he would rather be anywhere but there at that very moment before you caught up with Shigaraki. He looked only a little less bothered when you stepped up next to him, and then once again he used his presence to clear a path to the little booth that Toga had claimed.

“How the hell did you snag this?” You asked, sitting next to her, as Shigaraki slid into the seat across from you. “These are normally never empty at this time.”

Toga smiled at you as she broke open the flimsy wooden chopsticks, and Shigaraki did the same. “Some people were leaving just as I got here,” she explained, bringing a piece of sushi to her mouth. She chewed thoughtfully for a moment before swallowing. “And so I just sat down and threatened to stab anyone who asked if they could also sit here!”

You blinked at her incredulously, and Toga continued eating as if she hadn’t just told you she tossed around threats like she was talking about the weather.

“Is that normal?” You asked Shigaraki. He nodded, unperturbed, and shoved two pieces of sushi into his mouth. You gaped, blinked, and then decided if someone who’d known her since at least highschool said it was fine, it must be fine. Relatively.

The rest of your lunch is completed with more chatter from Toga, with you and Shigaraki occasionally giving input or asking her questions. The time flies, and soon you were all nursing your drinks, a neat pile of trash to be thrown out when you leave at the edge of the table. Toga is talking excitedly to Shigaraki about a game he’s… making? Playing? You had stopped paying attention after a while, letting the two friends catch up as your social battery depleted. You checked your phone, for a lack of anything better to do, and jolted when you looked at the time.

“Holy shit, it’s 1:50, I gotta go,” You exclaimed, cutting Toga off mid-sentence. The panic in your voice was unmistakable as you hastily shoved your phone into your back pocket, the screen dimming abruptly. You slung your backpack over one shoulder, the straps digging into your skin as you scrambled to gather your things, and with one last glance at Shigaraki and Toga, you snatched up the crumpled pile of trash from the table. Your movements were sharp and erratic as you waved absentmindedly at them, making a beeline for the door. You sighed and hurried your pace, mentally mapping out how to get to the library from where you were.

Just as you were about to push through the exit, Toga’s voice rang out, slicing through the clamor of the hallway: “Text us!” Her tone was light-hearted, but there was a pleading tone to her words that made it clear she already wanted to keep in touch with you. You threw another quick, half-hearted wave over your shoulder, barely registering her shout as you broke into a light jog. Unfortunately, people didn't get out of your way like they did with Shigaraki, and you were forced to dodge and weave until you got outside and were able to move around people more freely.

You’re not early, or even on time, by any means, but then again neither is the professor apparently, as he walks in 5 minutes late.

It’s not until hours later, when you’re back in your dorm, relaxing on your bed when you realize that you never texted Toga back. You quickly ran to your messages, and typed something out.

You smiled to yourself and put your phone away, getting ready for bed. Friday could not come soon enough.

Author's Note: Hi friends, second part up on time? What? Who am I, god? Anyway, it's Toga's debut in today's piece, I hope you enjoy :)

Contents: College!AU, all characters depicted are STRICTLY 18+, no use of "Y/N"/any other variants, and possibly wildly ooc characters. I apologize for this. Light swearing.

𝑳𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝑯𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝑳𝒂𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒆𝒓: 𝑫𝒂𝒚 3.1

 : 3.1

Author's Note: I'm so tired I'll edit this when I wake up. There will be a day 3 part 2. For now, please enjoy 💙

Contents: Nothing that needs a warning <3

Word Count: 2153

Summary: Entering your second year at college, only a few months after being broken up with, you weren't expecting anything special. Especially not in the romance department. But then a quiet, but friendly-enough boy on your floor catches your attention faster than you would like to admit. And oh, boy, are you in deep.

 : 3.1

Thursday was more boring than you’d like to admit. You woke up early, despite your first class being only at 2pm, and you spent those hours mindlessly scrolling on your phone. And then you realized you didn’t know where your class was, so you scrambled to get your school’s brightspace open to find it.

You breathed a sigh of relief when you were able to find it; it was one of the rooms on the upper floor of the library. The rest of your free time was spent getting ready for said class, choosing an outfit and doing any other cosmetic needs, skincare and stuff. Music blared loudly from your phone as you got ready, hyping you up for the day as you danced around your small room. Hanami had left for her classes for the day, so you had the tiny space to yourself as Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry made you bounce on your feet and sing into your microphone (aka your lint roller). It was only mildly embarrassing behavior, and your door was locked, so you weren’t extremely concerned with anyone seeing you.

After a few more minutes, however, you sighed and decided you couldn’t get away with putting off leaving any more. You slipped your shoes on and snatched up your backpack to head out the door, your music now playing through your earbuds. You had left earlier than you needed, because you wanted to grab a drink from the commons cafe before attending two classes, and you wouldn’t have enough time to get something between two said classes. So leaving early was the only solution.

You didn’t want to brag, you thought to yourself as you made your way to class, but you looked pretty damn good today. Jean shorts with star patches sewn over the ass (which, while cute, were inconvenient because it meant no pockets), and a baggy green shirt, and black converse made up your outfit. Your hair was hairing to the max, and you just felt good in the way you looked, which didn’t happen often, so if you had a little more swagger in your step, sue you. Today would be good.

You carried the sentiment with you all the way to the commons cafe, where the school had implemented an entirely unnecessary and complicated new system to ordering the food through GrubHub, for whatever reason. You sighed and ordered your drink, and the app notified you that it would be ready in… 13 minutes. “Jesus Christ,” you mumbled to yourself as you leaned against a wall. Next time you would just order before leaving your dorm. It wasn’t like there were even that many people in line ahead of you, only three according to the GrubHub app. You rolled your eyes and checked the time, anxious to be on time with the added thirteen minutes to your schedule. You would be, thankfully, and spent the rest of your time waiting just scrolling through your phone.

How much time did you spend on your phone anyway? Probably too much, you decided, going back to the messages between yourself and Shigaraki and Toga in the group chat last night. You hadn’t even used it for its intended purpose of scheduling a study session, but you figured you could blame it on Toga - wait, no, you couldn’t. You had asked when a good time to study was in her private messages. Oh well, it gave you a chance to text Shigaraki without Toga’s prying eyes. You had seen the way she looked at your hand on his elbow yesterday, a flicker of mischief and something a little more devious sparking in her eyes. You had your suspicions that she had left you two behind on purpose, but she had only just met you, so what reason would she have to try and get the two of you alone?

Then again, she did seem like the obsessive type, with her little comment about stabbing people. And it wasn’t like you minded, per se. Shigaraki was an attractive man, the more you thought about him. Or more accurately, he was your type. He was tall, and his arm had felt so solid and warm beneath your hand yesterday, muscles taut underneath your fingers. You swallowed down the saliva pooling in your mouth, because yeah that was enough of that train of thought.

Your mind didn’t stray very far, however, because you remembered his eyes and how damn pretty they were. Deep-set and a bright, ruby red, they sparkled with a less-than-hidden ferocity in the shadows of his pale blue hair. It was more than a little intimidating, the intensity in his gaze and how he seemed to be able to take in any information and store it away for later, to be pored over when it’s convenient for him. All in a few seconds of eye contact.

You nearly jumped out of your skin when your phone buzzed in your hand, indicating that your order was ready and oh shit did you think about Shigaraki Tomura for a whole 13 minutes straight? That certainly wasn’t concerning, nor was it something you would let yourself think about for any longer as you grabbed your drink and made your way to class. Macroeconomics, ugh. Microeconomics had been hell last semester, but unfortunately it was a requirement for business majors, and there you were, a business major, which… Sucked to suck.

You sighed quietly and shook off any and all thoughts about sucking and Shigaraki, and sweet Mary molasses you should not have thought about those two words together in the same sentence. What was wrong with you today? You decided it could be a problem for later, as you pushed open the door and greeted the professor, a sweet looking middle-aged woman before you sat down. This would be a long class.

 : 3.1

You were right, the class had been incredibly long, and incredibly boring, and you had taken to counting ceiling tiles to even stay awake. But the class was over now, thankfully, and you hopped to your feet to go to your next and last class, which was a calculus course. Fuck calculus. You pulled up your phone to double check the classroom number, knowing that the building it was in was right across from the library.

The classroom was empty when you got there, save for-

“Shigaraki, hey!”

The man looked up from his computer as you said his name, bright red eyes glancing at your mostly bare legs before meeting your gaze. “Hi.”

“Are you in this calculus class too? That’d be so cool if we had two classes together.” You exclaimed, sitting at a desk next to him. He nodded and typed something out on his computer before shutting it, giving you his full attention, which you appreciated.

“Yeah.”

You nodded thoughtfully, wanting to keep the conversation going but unsure where to pick it back up. “It’s kinda early though, I mean, I’m 15 minutes early and you were here before me. What class did you have before this one?”

Shigaraki said something about a computer science class, bringing one of his hands up to scratch at the base of his neck, an area of skin that was normally hidden underneath his sweater. Your eyes zeroed in on that little patch of skin, now scratched red and raw, and you had to physically blink to realize that not only had Shigaraki answered your question, he had asked you one of his own.

“Uh, sorry I zoned out,” you admitted sheepishly. “What was that?”

“I asked what class you had.”

Oh, right. That made sense. “Macroeconomics,” you mumbled. “It’s so boring I almost fell asleep.”

Shigaraki’s lips curved into a sly, quiet snicker. His expression was marked by a subtle twitch at one corner, pulling your attention to the small scar that lay over the edge of his lip. A mole rested just beneath the other corner, adding a touch of asymmetry to his face that was prettier than it should have been. As he smiled , and God help you it was adorable, the wrinkles around his eyes deepened. “Falling asleep on the second day?” he mused, with a hint of mockery. “That’s no good.”

Get a hold of yourself! You sang in your head. Where did his sudden, teasing confidence come from?

You managed to smile sheepishly and avoided his gaze, shrugging. “Not my fault it’s a boring class.”

Shigaraki had stopped pawing at his neck, instead tapping his fingers against his mouth and drawing your attention to it. His lips were cracked and dry, and looked to be honestly rather painful. “Can’t be that boring if you’re there.”

“W-What?” You chuckled softly, trying to figure out whether or not… was he flirting with you?

“You heard me,” he said, turning to face away from you and stare at the door. You blinked at him rapidly, and then shook your head. There was no way he was flirting.

To distract yourself, you pulled out your phone and checked the time. 3:35pm. “Hm.”

“Hm?” Shigaraki parroted.

“Hm, it’s five past and no one’s here yet,” you explained, pulling up the syllabus to double check you were in the right room, the right building. Yep. Room 221, Greens Hall. “Are we in the wrong room, do you think, or…?”

Shigaraki frowned. “Could be.”

You blinked at your phone, double and then triple checking your phone, just in case. But your eyes were not deceiving you. “Maybe everyone else is just late?” You asked hopefully. You knew it wasn’t true, there was no way no one else hadn’t trickled into class by now.

“Let’s just,” you paused, “wait a few more minutes.”

“Okay.”

And so you did. Then a ‘few more minutes’ turned into ten, which turned into 15, and then 20. Not once had Shigaraki opened his computer back up. He had chosen to, instead, pull out his phone and fiddle around on it, and although you couldn’t see the screen you had to assume it was some sort of game by the way he held the device, thumbs poised over the edges of the screen.

After 30 minutes of sitting in silence, you spoke up. “We’re definitely in the wrong room.”

Shigaraki glanced up, briefly, and then looked back down at his phone. “How? We’re in the room that’s named on the syllabus.”

“Iunno,” you mumbled, shrugging as you stood up and hoisting your backpack over your shoulders. “I’m gonna go back to my dorm and email the teacher from there. Wanna come with?”

He nodded after a moment’s hesitation, sliding his stuff together and haphazardly shoving it all in his backpack. You watched, a little disturbed at the lack of organization, but didn’t comment because his backpack was already over his shoulder, and so was yours, and he was at the door quickly, holding it open for you.

“Thanks,” you chirped, scooting past him and into the empty hallway.

Shigaraki “mhm’d” in that soft, raspy voice of his, and soon enough his long legs were matching your stride. You both made your way out of the building in silence, trading off who opened doors for who automatically. You inhaled deeply when you got outside, the air cooler now that it was in the late afternoon, loving the feeling and the smell.

The walk back to your dorm building was just as quiet, the both of you enjoying the sounds of other people walking or catching up with friends. Soon enough, however, you were on the little deer path that connected the academic part of campus to the living part of campus, where it was less chattery and was more welcoming to the cries of birds or squirrels barking.

You broke that silence. “So uh, are you doing anything later?”

Shigaraki didn’t say anything for a moment. “No, don’t think so, why?”

“Uh, well,” you started, hoping you didn’t sound as awkward as you felt. “I heard that they’re playing a movie on the front lawn of Briggs, and I wanted to go but I don’t wanna go alone.”

You saw Shigaraki nod minutely in understanding. “What movie are they playing?”

“I’m not sure,” you muttered. “An action movie, I’m pretty sure. I didn’t see though, on the flier. It starts at eight, though. If you want to come, no pressure.”

You were rambling, God did you ever shut up? It was like you were determined to stick your foot in your mouth or make him uncomfortable.

“Sure, I’ll be there.”

“Oh, okay cool!” You said, your tone brighter than you had intended.

The rest of the walk was quiet, and you said your ‘see you later’s in the hallway just in front of the staircase. It wasn’t until you were back in your room that you realized that, not only had you asked Shigaraki to go watch a movie with you, he had agreed. Oh joy.

Oh joy.

Author's Note: Enjoy!

Content: Twilight. That's the content warning.

Word Count: 2051

Summary: Entering your second year at college, only a few months after being broken up with, you weren't expecting anything special. Especially not in the romance department. But then a quiet, but friendly-enough boy on your floor catches your attention faster than you would like to admit. And oh, boy, are you in deep.

 : 3.2

“Hanami literally what do I do?” You wailed, pacing around your small corner of the room. It was only around 5pm, but that meant you only had three hours until you were meeting Shigaraki for the movie.

“Didn’t you meet him like, two days ago?” Hanami asked, not looking up from her computer. “Why are you so worked up about this?”

You groaned and threw your hands up in the air. “I dunno! Cause- he like, flirted with me earlier, I think, and he’s really cute in like a wet cat kind of way!”

Hanami laughed, whether it was at your behavior or your word choice you couldn’t tell. “He’s just a guy. Calm down. It’s not like you’re going to be in his dorm or anything, you’re just going to be watching a movie on the lawn.”

You nodded and let out a pathetic noise. You seriously needed to work on some shit if you were this worked up over a guy after knowing him for two days. “Just- augh.” You sat down in your chair with a heavy sigh.

“Augh?”

“Augh. Hanami, what's wrong with me?”

“Attachment issues?”

You gaped at her in mock disgust. “Haven’t you only known me for two days?”

“Yeah, and I can already tell you have attachment issues,” Hanami joked, making a heart with her hands at you from her bed.

“Wow,” you grumbled, rolling your eyes. You froze. “Ohmygod, wait, what if he thinks I’m being desperate?”

“Aren’t you?”

“...That’s not the point,” you said, pouting. “Anyway, should I like… bring food or something?”

Hanami looked at you disparagingly. “We don’t really have… movie snacks…”

You glanced at the meager little snack cart that you had placed by your bed. “I have plantain chips.”

Hanami deadpanned. “Really?”

“Oh my god, wait, what if he’s allergic to plantain chips?”

“Do you even know what movie it is?”

“No.”

You jumped back up and started pacing again, anxiety coiling underneath your heart. Hanami only stared at you as you walked a groove into the floor. You grumpily snatched up a lollipop (caramel apple, because fuck you they’re good), and decided you would get some homework done before the movie, to keep your mind from running into next week.

 : 3.2

It wasn’t long before it was two minutes till eight, and your phone buzzed.

You coming? From Shigaraki.

yuh! i’ll bring a blanket too!

You sighed and shut your phone off, slipping it into your back pocket before grabbing the blanket that lived at the end of your bed.

“Right,” you sighed. “I’m off. No plantain chips.”

Hanami looked up at your thrown-back shoulders, courtesy of false bravado that everything would be fine. She smiled at you. “You’ll be fine. Just relax and have fun.”

“Right,” you repeated with a nod. “It’ll be fine.”

With one last self-reassuring sigh, you left your room, and made your way to the lawn of Briggs Hall, which was directly in front of your building. The air outside nipped at your face and fingers, and you buried them deeper into the blanket in your arms as you looked around for Shigaraki’s pale hair. You did spot it, eventually, lit up by his phone as he stared down at it quietly, set pretty far away from everyone else.

You shook any last nerves off and made your way over to him, calling his name quietly when you got close enough to not have to shout to be heard. Ahead of the both of you, a projector screen was flickering blue as the movie got set up, and you threw the blanket over the ground next to Shigaraki. He looked up at the sound of his name.

“Hey,” he said, nodding at you. He shuffled over from his place on the grass and tucked his phone away.

“Hi,” you replied, sitting criss-cross-applesauce on the blanket. “Do you know what movie they’re playing?”

Shigaraki grimaced, and you felt your heart sink as he muttered, “Twilight.”

Your shoulders fell and you groaned louder than was probably appropriate. “Dear God, why?”

The only response you got was a shrug as he looked up, the infamously cringey lines playing through the speakers as the quite honestly gorgeous forest scenery played out. The camera footage was shaky, and despite knowing that it was from someone’s perspective, you couldn’t help but wince. “This movie is so bad .”

Shigaraki snickered beside you, keeping his eyes on the screen. “At least I know you have good taste.”

You hummed and sighed, settling into the blanket and resigned yourself to watching the shitty acting and blue-tinted film. You found yourself wanting to die more than a little bit every time one of the characters opened their mouths, only to hesitate, or gasp, or stutter, or fry their voice.

“No one talks like this…” you muttered. “Not even back in the 2000s…”

“Did you read the books?”

You started as Shigaraki asked you a question, the full force of his intense red gaze on you. “Uh- no no. I mean, I started the first book, but I couldn’t finish it. Did you?”

Shigaraki nodded, which was surprising. “Toga kind of made me. Kept going on about some book club she wanted to start and then Dabi got into it. Not sure if he genuinely liked it or if it was just to peer pressure me into reading the damn series. I’ve never watched the movies though.”

You couldn’t hold back your snort at the thought of the tall, dark, brooding man liking something as cringe-worthy as Twilight. Shigaraki chuckled at your snort, and that sound was. Nice. Entirely too nice. You felt heat rush through your cheeks and you were glad for the distraction of the movie so Shigaraki didn’t have to see your flustered expression.

“Honestly, Dabi seems like the type,” you eventually muttered. “Like, unironically.”

“Don’t say that,” Shigaraki groused. He seemed annoyed now. “Nothing is ever ironic, or unironic.”

You rolled your eyes. “Fine, grammar police.”

He hummed, but didn’t say anything more. The next twenty or so minutes were spent in silence, just watching the shitty acting. Eventually Shigaraki spoke up again.

“Bella is so fucking stupid.”

You chuckled and nodded. You shifted and groaned softly; your back was starting to ache from being so hunched over, and you were starting to get uncomfortable.  You huffed and eventually flopped onto your stomach, swinging your legs behind you like a teenage girl on the phone. A moment later, you were joined by Shigaraki, who had forgone kicking his legs up like you. You two were so close you could feel the warmth of his shoulder through his jacket, and you did your best to not turn and stare, to not tense up or even, God forbid, lean into him.

“This okay?” He asked quietly, almost a whisper.

You dared to glance at him. He was already looking at you, his eyes soft. You blinked rapidly at him, tried to not let how close he was affect you, tried not to stare, dammit. But he was so pretty up close, wavy, powder blue hair framing his face in a way that made him seem cute. Sure, his jaw was sharp, but he had more fat to his cheeks than his usual hunched posture would allow anyone to notice, and his eyes were lidded and sleepy. Seductive, almost.

His cracked lips pulled, the scar on the side of his mouth separating as he spoke. Wait, fuck he was talking.

“Sorry- uh, I-” you cleared your throat in a way that you hoped was casual and unfortunately you knew wasn’t. “I wasn’t paying attention, sorry.”

“I asked if this was okay, and you didn’t respond so I asked if you were okay. You were staring.”

His tone was entirely too smug.

“Yeah! Yeah yeah, I’m fine. This is fine. All fine.” Your heart felt like it was trying to crawl out of your throat.

Shigaraki nodded, still looking smug and radiating that same energy that felt suffocating. There was a tension that felt overwhelming. You pursed your lips and looked up ahead at the screen.

“This is the skin of a killer, Bella.”

The tension broke, and you buried your face in your hands, snorting. Shigaraki chuckled beside you, and you felt like you could breathe again.

 : 3.2

The rest of the movie passed in a calmer manner. You two would occasionally crack jokes at the character’s expense, mocking them enough that eventually some people in front of you turned over their shoulders and sent nasty glares your way, and you piped down. You still couldn’t stop the quiet groans of discomfort at the bad acting and gag-worthy fight scenes. Seriously, who shouted like that? It was gross. And you told Shigaraki as much, who, to your heart’s delight, snickered quietly every time and only encouraged you further.

You shivered at the crisp night air wrapping around you, it had only gotten colder the later it got. Shigaraki shifted next to you again, resting his chin on intertwined hands as the final scenes of the dumb movie played out. The screen illuminated his face, highlighting his features prettily, and despite the both of you having been scoffing, his eyes were soft.

Fuck, you were staring again. But he hadn’t noticed, or you hoped he hadn’t noticed. The both of you were in a quiet, calm little bubble, away from the rest of the world, and you… liked it. You liked being alone with him, it was nice. It was broken by Shigaraki huffing at the final scenes, Bella and Edward being ridiculously awkward.

The end credits began to roll and the screen dimmed. You inhaled sharply, the cold air stinging your lungs. It was moments like these that made the now-returning, unspoken tension between you almost unbearable in its quiet intensity. People sat and stood up around you and started heading back to their dorms, and you felt Shigaraki stand up, too. You watched as he stretched, his tummy showing just barely, and he groaned as the stiffness left his muscles.

His gaze flickered at you, watchful, content.

“So, what’d you think?” You asked, sitting up and stretching your arms behind your head yourself.

“It was… bad.” Shigaraki wrinkled his nose in disgust and stepped off your blanket, and you followed suit. “Like, really fucking bad.”

You only shook your head in agreement and stood up, grabbing your blanket and folding it neatly. “Definitely funny, though,” you told him. “In like a, ‘this is so bad it’s hilarious,’ kind of way.”

He nodded, agreeing with you. “I guess.”

You nodded back, the both of you standing awkwardly as the movie players started dismantling everything. You rocked back and forth on the balls of your feet. Silence stretched between you.

“Well, I should let you go to sleep,” you muttered eventually. “It’s 10pm.”

“Yeah,” he whispered. “See you in class tomorrow.”

“See ya.”

You watched as he walked back towards your dorm, then realized, oh shit, you lived there too, and skittered after him. He was waiting at the door, holding it open as he watched you make the most awkward, “I’m not sprinting but I’m also not walking,” jog in your life. You ducked underneath him and opened the next door for him, and all of a sudden the silence was too loud. You bit your lip to stop yourself from blurting out something stupid.

The trek to your room was faster than you’d have liked, and you gave Shigaraki one final wave as he disappeared down the hallway. You flopped down into your chair and buried your face in your hands. Hanami snickered at you.

“That bad?” She prodded.

“Omigawd, Hanami!” You whined through your fingers in despair. “It was fine up until the very end!”

Hanami looked up at you from her bed, her voice sympathetic. “What happened?”

You let out a groan, allowing your hands to fall into your lap. “It- we- ugh.”

Hanami waited patiently.

“It was fine, and then the movie ended and I didn’t know what to say, and shit just got awkward, and then we left, and it was just… so awkward.”

“You poor thing,” Hanami cooed, less sympathetic. “I’m sure things will get better. Just give it time.”

You could only hope she was right.

The tension broke, and you buried your face in your hands, snorting. Shigaraki chuckled beside you, and you felt like you could breathe again.
