I think the people who claim that MalleYuu fans genuinely think Yuu is the reason why Malleus overblotted are putting words in their mouth and are just making up a reason to be mad about. Maybe I just have too much faith in people's general ability to think, but literally just reading the story you'll see Malleus literally saying "I DON'T WANT TO LOSE YOU" to Lilia? And if you just take a single second to put yourself in his shoes and make up a hypothetical scenario, what will you do:

The parent you have a good relationship with, and a friend (or crush if you want to up the stakes a bit), are drowning far off from each other. Who will you choose to save? The person who you spent all your life with, or someone you only met a few months ago who can grow tired of you and leave you one day? Any normal person would choose the obvious answer.

I want to believe that no one's genuinely convinced that Malleus would choose to simp???? Most and hopefully all Malleus stans probably just think it's a funny thought that he'd be that much of a simp. It's funny; it doesn't mean anything, it's not real. It's a useless, passing thought.

AND outside of hypothetical, extreme scenarios like that, there's literally no reason to choose. A person is allowed to love both their parent and a friend. Being black and white in this topic kinda makes it look like you don't know how it feels to be loved by different people and how it feels to love many different people with different nuances.
