Attack On Titan Theory
This is a theory I’ve been developing for a while and is my first TRUE contribution to the fandom so…..I apologize ahead of time
Well, my theory is that the world of Attack On Titan is set slightly after World War 2 (the unknown history). What gives me that idea? Well the fact that Isayama is a WW2 history buff, the clothing, and the names.
Let me start with the easiest: the clothing and the names. Most of the costumes and clothing originates before WW2 and the turn of the century.
(Yes I know weird gif selections but they do show off the clothing that I wanted featured.)
With the exception of clothing we see from those from the Hometown (i.e. Annie’s hoodie, which would be explained as the Hometown area appears to be picking up with our times with a slight more steampunk tinge).
And the names, all are Germanic based or European based, seemingly out of place in an Japanese manga. These are all circumstantial but help bring a better idea.
But, Cheyenne, how can this place be set after World War 2 when their world looks nothing like ours? Well a nice friend made a point in the AoT wikia and in a tumblr post that I cannot find for the life of me right now, that the map looks like Africa and Madagascar inverted (but even that could work as after the war many of the Nazi War criminals fled to Africa and specifically Argentina).
But I say the map doesn’t matter because this A) a fantasy world and B) could just be a major AU…..which is exactly my point. Attack on Titan is nothing more than an Alternative Universe of what would have happened if the Germans had won or hadn’t suffered been quite so scattered after losing…..Now the reason I’ve been developing this theory since the Titan Serum was revealed, but the reason I haven’t posted it is because I have deep respect for the victims of the Holocaust and this theory revolves quite a lot around them, specifically the ones who were experiments for Dr. Josef Mengele.
My theory is this is an AU where Mengele somehow managed to create the Titan serum. What helps me believe this theory is that Eldian’s citizen are in a seemingly in a generational punishment for their previous citizens “ethnic cleansing” on the Marley’s.
Sound familiar? Am I implying that all our beloved characters are possible descendant’s of Nazi’s? Yes I am. Could this just be a nice mislead by Isayama? What do you guys think?

My Predictions
Well, SNK Chapter 90 is shaping up to be a pretty mighty, because it concludes Return to Shiganshina arc.This volume has “dungeon theme” and focus on flashbacks with Eren Kruger. I suspect that the key event will happen and real saga of the titan shifters continues at a greater pace than ever. I can’t predict what might happen but it’s worth a shot.
The Proper Burial (a few pages), possibly we will see Hitch Deliss
The conversation will surely reach a stalemate. Armin will talk about Annie’s status and Eren will refuse to go into detail about Fritz family
We will see important and final fragment about Grisha’s past
If Mikasa has another headache then the others will notice her bandage. I don’t know how long we can wait. Maybe it’s time to start developing Mikasa’s line. Isayama should prepare the ground for thiiiis theme.
The KEY event - This chapter will revealed spy/spies who working for Marley/East government. In this regard, we will see a dialogue that all preparations for attack are in their final stages. I think Zackley may be spy because he said this provocative phrase. He needs to know about Eldians’ potential power to counterattack.
He knows something…probably but not necessarily.
I think Isayama might surprise us. And spy could be guy like Billy or someone else. But Zackley and Pixis are still the primary candidates for this role.

Ch. 122 leaves me with another question after thinking on it for a few days: where/when/how do the Ackermans come into play?
We now know how this power originated and how it transfers, so how did the Ackerman clan come to gain heightened abilities? I know it’s a “by-product of titan science” or whatever, but wtf does that mean???
My main theory is that when the idea of injections to turn people into Titans came about, the Ackermans were used as test subjects of sorts. It would explain the potential immunity to being turned into a titan and why when “awoken” they are naturally stronger. But then I wonder where the whole loyalty/dedication to another person comes into play...
I don’t think we will ever get a solid answer from Isayama, but I hope we do. Also if there’s any grammar errors in this post or if it’s worded in a confusing manner, I apologize, as I quickly wrote this at my desk because I don’t want to be at work this Monday morning lol
