Underrated Crafts

Hello, I am practicing art and cosmic, plus bioregional animism. I cannot find any resources so I was thinking of creating a little book or e-zine about the two subjects.

What do you think, do you have resources?

p.S., English isn't my first language, so grammar errors may occur.

December’s Venus Retrograde

On December 19, 2021, Venus will Station Retrograde in Capricorn. What does this mean for us?

To understand this transit, we need to first break down the elements that collectively compose its energy. Venus is a personal planet with strong feminine energy, and it reigns over abundance, sensuality, beauty, and our connection to nature. Venus is the natural ruler of Taurus and Libra, which are both signs with an eye for aesthetics and a love for comfort.

Capricorn, on the other hand, is a serious and no-nonsense sign with cardinal earth energy. It isn’t the most natural placement for Venus, but it’s certainly an interesting one.

We’re now approaching Capricorn Season, so those themes are amplified in the wider astrological climate. This means that Capricorn-related topics will likely show up in our lives in increasing quantity and intensity as more celestial bodies move through Capricorn’s energy (and encourage us to do the same).

So what are the themes brought to light by Capricorn, and how will this transit impact them? Let’s talk about it.

This Transit

Venus will be retrograde in Capricorn from December 19 to January 29, 2022. However, you won’t have to wait to feel its effects: the pre-retrograde zone began on November 17, and the post-retrograde phase ends on March 1, 2022. Needless to say, it’s best to settle in and embrace the changes that this transit is about to bring, because it’s not ending anytime soon.

Venus, the planet of love and beauty, rules over pleasure, comfort, relationships, and artistic expression. It influences how you relate to and attract others. With this in mind, we can understand that Venus’ Station Retrograde in Capricorn will turn our relationships upside down as we reevaluate the way we commit to others and ourselves.

During Venus Retrograde in Capricorn, you may have a more no-nonsense approach to romance than usual. You have a list of criteria that need to be met, and you don’t have time or energy to mess around. It’s okay for your expectations to be high, but consider checking in to see if they are realistic. Is there anything you’re willing to compromise on?

On the other side of the spectrum, if your expectations are too low, Venus in Capricorn will push you to raise them so that you can attract a partner who is actually on your level. Now is the time to identify what you truly need from a relationship. If your current partner or dating pool isn’t meeting those needs (and isn’t willing to step up to the plate), then it’s time to value yourself enough to walk away.

All in all, Venus Retrograde will be the time for some deep soul-searching, so be prepared to get to know yourself (and your loved ones) on a whole new level.

Reflection Prompts

If you’re at all familiar with my work, you know I’m a huge fan of reflection prompts — so, of course, I’ve come up with a handful to help guide you through this transit. Each prompt is designed to coincide with themes illuminated by Venus’s Retrograde in Capricorn. Of course, you don’t have to use all (or any) of my prompts — if you’d like to come up with your own, the themes to focus on are commitment, values systems, romantic expectations and needs, and your relationship with solitude.

With all that being said, let’s get into the prompts!

Would you say your romantic expectations are realistic? Why or why not?

Journal about a time where you accepted less than you deserved in a relationship (romantic or platonic). What led up to this, and how did it make you feel? How would you handle this situation differently now?

In what ways have you matured since last year?

What is a new commitment you are willing to make to yourself (or your partner)?

Has your idea of what love and relationships mean changed over the past year? How so?

Where does Venus fall in your natal chart?
