Everyone’s Replaceable👥

Pairing: Spencer Reid x Black!Fem!Reader (romantic to platonic), BAU x Reader

Category: angsty anti-reader

Summary: Reader wakes up from a 6-month coma and comes back to work, but what happens when she learns that she’s been replaced?

Content: mentions of medically-induced coma, being shot, blood, near-death, depression, suicidal thoughts

Reader Behavior: I usually don’t add descriptions but reader is a bitch in this story (rightfully so). She’s angry about the circumstances and will lash out at anyone (except Penelope). *adding this bc if you feel like that’s not how you would react in this situation, it might be hard to ignore her behavior.*

*reader has a job in the B.A.U. that I created specifically for this story called a case advisor. a case advisor is basically someone that takes the cases that JJ doesn’t deem a priority. they’ll provide advice and assistance to the police departments as to what step to take next, but they won’t fly out to every location to do so— they have an office where they provide assistance over the phone.*

I always had an outfit for every occasion. Dinner dates, girls nights, sleepovers, work, etc., but I never picked an outfit for coming back from the dead. The metaphorical dead, that is. I figured that something casual would work, since I didn’t expect to be thrust into a case on my first day back. After sifting through my somewhat extensive wardrobe, I settled on my F/C sweater and some jeans, before adding a cute pair of Converse to finalize the look.

My outfit was unprofessional, but since there wasn’t a Pinterest board for outfits fit for this specific occasion, I had to improvise. A little makeup and some jewelry topped off my less-than-acceptable outfit for the day, but it was too late to change, so I grabbed my keys and hurried out of my apartment.

I felt an oddly nostalgic feeling as I drove to the B.A.U. building, and I even took the long way to allow myself more time to get my thoughts together. I should’ve been happy to see my friends and my boyfriend again, but instead, all I could feel was the slow and steady anger bubble inside me. I had been in a medically-induced coma for the last six months after sustaining seven gunshot wounds, and four out of the six months I spent on life-support, I was alone in my hospital room, my only visitors being the endless number of nurses, doctors, and specialists coming to see me.

When I woke up, I was told that, in the first two months, my coworkers flooded my room in between every case they tackled, sitting at my bedside and discussing their favorite memories of me with one another. After the second month was over, my regular guests whittled down to one blonde woman with fun glasses and a kind smile— Garcia. My doctor also told me that she would send me one, large, vibrant bouquet of flowers in the months that she couldn’t come and see me. Of course, I appreciated the kind gesture, but what I couldn’t wrap my head around was why no one else— including my boyfriend of eight months— hadn’t come to see me.

At first, I chalked it up to busyness. “He’s busy,” I thought. “Maybe he tried to make time for me and got sidetracked.” Eventually, I realized that I couldn’t lie to myself anymore. Spencer clearly didn’t care enough about me to visit me while I was inches away from death. Once I came to this realization, I allowed myself to cry and wallow in my grief for a couple of months I even attempted to convince myself that I didn’t need him, but lying to myself would only make it worse.

Once my sorrow subsided, I was left with anger. I marched myself down to the hospital and asked for a copy for my medical documents, including my visitor logs and information on who paid for my life support. At first, the nurse was reluctant to hand over my medical information, but a quick flash of my F.B.I. credentials changed her mind. Of course I felt guilty, but I needed to see the logs. I needed to confirm that one of the most important people in my life was absent when it was hanging in the balance.

I exited the hospital that day with a tan file in my shaky hands, and I couldn’t wait until I got home to open the file and gingerly remove its contents. My eyes scanned the logs, and the name ‘Spencer Reid’ stopped showing up after two months, which meant that the doctor didn’t lie. I thought I was done wallowing, but I couldn’t stop the hot tears from sliding down my cheeks at the thought of laying half-dead in a hospital room without my boyfriend by my side.

My thoughts came to a halt when I pulled into the parking lot of the large building, and I could swear my heart audibly dropped into my shoes. A shaky breath rattled my lungs as I checked my hair and makeup one last time. Here goes nothing.

I pushed the glass doors of the B.A.U open and walked inside, my heart beating loudly in my ears. Part of me wanted to spin on my heel and walk back to my car, but my feet, having other plans, carried me forward. Unfortunately, it didn’t take long for someone to spot me. Garcia gasped and dropped the stack of files she was holding and let out an ear-piercing scream. Without warning, she ran over to me and threw herself onto me, wrapping me in a tight hug. I quickly returned the favor, a sigh escaping my lips. “I’ve missed you,” she croaked. “I know, I’ve missed you, too,” I replied, holding her at arm’s length. We exchanged weak smiles before hugging again. While we hugged, something caught my eye. The nameplate outside of my office read ‘Samantha Bridges’ and not Y/N L/N. “Penelope,” I said, releasing her from our hug. “Yeah?” “Who’s Samantha Bridges?” I inquired, my gaze trained on the nameplate. “The new case advisor,” she mumbled. What?!

There’s a million things I could’ve said in that moment, but all I could manage was “What?!” Garcia nodded, looking down and away from me. “You’ve been replaced.” “Yeah, I can see that,” I snapped. I instantly regretted it but I couldn’t control myself. “Where is she?” I demand. “With Reid at his desk.” Now I knew why he didn’t come to visit me. He had moved onto my replacement. I have Garcia a short hug before telling her that I wasn’t angry at her. She nodded and watched as I stormed over to Spencer’s desk, where he was happily chatting with a girl that, surprisingly, resembled me. “What the hell?” I exclaimed, a look of disgust on my face. The two turned to me, faces painted with shock. “Y/N,” Spencer whispered. “I-I didn’t think y-you’d come back.” “Yeah, I can fucking see that,” I snapped again without an ounce of regret in my body. “Hi,” the girl said. “I’m Sa—” “I don’t give a fuck who you are,” I replied harshly, to which she dropped her hand and looked up at Spencer, who looked like a puppy that had been kicked too many times. The thought of him suffering the consequences of his own actions brought a genuine smile to my face.

“Y/N…” he started. “Why didn’t you visit me, huh?” I interject. “I… I got—” “Busy cheating on me with other girls,” I finished. “Spence, who’s this?” Samantha asked him. “You’re not talking to him, you’re talking to me,” I told her, causing her to turn her gaze towards mine. “I am— I was —his girlfriend.” If she could get pale, she would’ve. I turned my focus back to Spencer, who looked like he’d seen a ghost. “I take seven bullets for this team and land myself in a medically-induced coma for you to cheat on me with my clone from Wish.” “Y/N, please, can we talk somewhere else?” Spencer begged. “There’s nothing to talk about,” I replied harshly, watching the hopeful twinkle in his eye disappear. “You cheated on me while I was on life support. I thought boyfriends were supposed to visit their half-dead girlfriends in the hospital.” By then, JJ, Morgan, and Emily had gathered around us, and Garcia followed suit.

“If I knew that sacrificing myself for this team would cost me six months of my life, I would’ve never joined in the first place,” I told them, a single tear slipping down my cheek and causing my voice to tremble. “I-I can’t even comprehend this betrayal.” “Y/N…” Samantha whispered. “I don’t wanna hear shit from you,” I barked, causing her to shrink away from the anger that radiated off of my body as I spoke. “I got a copy of my visitation logs from when I was in my coma, and I saw how the visits from everyone that wasn’t named Penelope Garcia stopped after two months.” “In fact, she even delivered me a bouquet of flowers every time she couldn’t come see me, as well as paid for my life support.” I turned to look at her, my eyes filled with unshed tears threatening to spill if I didn’t finish my speech. “Penelope, I owe you my life,” I said, watching as she offered a small smile and nodded, her own tears in her eyes. “Anything that you need me to do, I’ll do it.” I looked back at the team, who’s eyes were all glassy with tears formed from the hatred that filmed my body. “As for you all,” I announced, watching as they hung on to every word in anticipation for what disheartening blow I would deliver next. “I thought family looked out for one another, but it seems like no one returned the favor. Waking up in a strange new world with no one to guide you through it is something I would never wish on anyone, even you guys.” “If I knew that my team would turn their backs on me and my boyfriend would cheat on me, I would’ve forced myself to live out my fantasy delusion I lived in when I was in the coma. A delusion where Spencer and I got married and had kids. That’s just what it is— a delusion. If I were to live it out, I would’ve flatlined, and who knows? Maybe it wouldn’t have been such a bad thing after all.”

“If I knew what was waiting for me when I arrived, I would’ve spared you all the pain of seeing your former teammate that you abandoned, and instead, written a resignation letter. Since I didn’t come prepared,” I grab a sticky note off of Morgan’s desk and took a pen, scribbling down a note and thrusting it into JJ’s hands. “Give this to Hotch,” I demanded. “What’s it say?” Emily asked quietly. “‘I quit.’” Everyone’s faces fell as they all looked at me with expressions full of pain. “You don’t have to do this,” Morgan said. “Yes, I do, Derek.” The harsh use of his first name caused him to hang his head in the shame felt by the entire team. “There’s nothing left for me here. I can see that you already have your Black female in power, and it’s clear as day that you don’t want another one.” “Y/N, I’m so sorry for what happened,” Emily whispered. “I really am.” “I believe you.” Three words caused their faces to change to looks of hope, and four words took them away. “But, it’s too late.” I turned around and walked over to Garcia, wrapping her in another hug. “You’re leaving?” she asked, her voice filled with pain that brought a fresh set of tears to my eyes. “Yeah. We’ll talk, okay?” “Okay,” she mumbled, pulling away to sniffle and wipe her tears. “There’s nothing I have to say to you guys,” I told the team. If it was possible to look even more defeated, they did. “But Samantha,” I said. She perks up and looks at me with her face all red and blotchy. I had no idea why she was crying, seeing as this would’ve been a good thing for her, as it meant that she wouldn’t lose her job. “Remember that everyone’s replaceable.” All Samantha did was sniffle and blink away the stray tears. “And Spencer,” I called. He feebly looked up at me, his eyes already a bright shade of red from the tears. “Go fuck yourself.” It hurt to say, but the pain lessened when I reminded myself that he deserved it. With nothing else to say, I spun around and marched out of the building for the last time.

House of Memories (Spencer's Version)

House Of Memories (Spencer's Version)

Spencer Reid x Black! Fem! FBI! Reader

A look at your life with Spencer through the eyes of his team mates

Warnings: none really, just fluff, the team being observant, adult objects (condoms, alcohol, etc.,), not a warning but a note: reader isn't in the BAU but she works in the FBI, through Emily's POV

“I wasn’t expecting an invite from you, Reid. Thanks for having me over.” The front door to the apartment opened. Emily was holding a bottle of cheap wine that she grabbed from the liquor store down the street when she realized she forgot to bring a house gift. It was a close call too, she was literally driving past it when she realized and had to make a very hasty u-turn.

“It’s no problem, thank you for coming! Derek, Garcia and Hotch are in the living room, Rossi’s in the bathroom and JJ’s coming late. Her loss though, I think she’d really enjoy Interstellar and if she comes late I know she’s going to complain. Come in, just take your shoes off if you don’t mind.” Emily nodded, after Spencer gave her a light side hug and accepted the bottle from her.

He wore a white tee-shirt, pajama bottoms, and smelt fresh. His hair was damp as well, like he’d showered a few hours ago but his hair is so thick that it takes a minute for it to dry. She noticed his light shrug, as if it wasn’t his preference but he would take it anyways.

Ghosting through the threshold, she bent down and slipped off her boots. She heard light chatter, music, smelt a vanilla and sea salt (it was a rough guess) candle burning, and heard the clatter of pots in the kitchen.

She couldn’t help it, her analytical mind working before she could stop it. Sometimes she would find herself profiling strangers even when it was rude. And profiling your coworker who invited you into his home was very rude.

Spencer’s shoes were thrown on the floor, one knocked on its side but still close together. As if it was an attempt on his end to be some sort of neat. Pairs of heels, pumps, boots were lined on the shoe rack but after doing a quick count, she noticed something. There were far more womens shoes than there were mens shoes. About six pairs of men's shoes to a 10 women’s shoe ratio.

Aaron, David, Derek make three, and the other three were clearly Spencer’s. Pen’s shoes obviously were one of those female shoes. The bright purple heels sticking out like a sore thumb amongst the browns, blacks, and deep reds of the female shoes.

‘Enough Emily, stop being rude.’

“Your house is beautiful Spencer.” She couldn’t help but look around in slight awe. She wasn’t expecting Spencer’s house to be so…neat? No, that sounds mean. Neat in a way that didn’t seem like it was all Spencer. Sure Spencer’s little unique touches were sprinkled about the apartment and she was still standing at the doorway.

There were pictures of nature hanging on the wall, of a young black woman standing in front of a large pond far from the camera. She wore a pink baseball cap and had her hands flung out as if to emphasize how big the pond was. Who was that? A secret lover? She looked familiar, like a face Emily had seen in passing.

“Oh thanks. I just moved in a few months ago so not everything is fully set up.” Spencer called from the kitchen, and there were three clicks from the stove. Then he slid out, wiping his hands on a towel. As she walked through the house, she noticed more.

Potted plants with lush green leaves, knitted plant holders hanging from the ceiling, a red and dark blue patterned rug on the floor in the hall. From where she stood, she could see there was a small dining area. A nice wooden table, with papers and files scattered all over.

She found her way to the living room and saw her coworkers engaged in whispers on the couch. More papers and files were on the small tables on either side of the couch, a contrast to the neatness of the rest of the house.

“Hey everybody, what’s up?” Emily asked. Heads snapped towards her, and she noticed Penelope’s eyes curved up in a mischievous grin.

“Hi! Come sit, come sit.” Penelope motioned next to her, Derek and Rossi sliding over to make room for her.

“Did you make it in okay?” Hotch asked and Emily nodded while she slipped onto the brown leather sofa. A dark purple hand knitted black was thrown over the back of it. Did Spencer take up knitting or was this just a nice purchase?

Spencer plopped down into the brown leather armchair and rested his feet on the pouf in front of him. Emily noticed how spotless the glass coffee table in front of them was.

The whole house was ridiculously clean. The wooden floors sparkled, the carpets meticulously vacuumed, the TV sparkled and the speakers next to the TV were flawlessly dusted. The large oak bookshelf that was up against the wall that was closest to the kitchen was also dusted and the books neatly organized.

When would Spencer have time to clean his house so thoroughly? They were on a mission all of last week, got back two nights ago and have been at work since then. Sure, it’s Spencer he could just be very clean but the way things sparkled, it was clear they were cleaned merely a few hours ago.

When they did go home it was late at night and they were back at work early the next day. Did he spend his whole Saturday afternoon scrubbing his floors, and preparing to cook for them? Spencer wasn’t the type to have a housekeeper, especially when he does his work all over and you can’t exactly leave FBI documents in the eye of the eye of a random house keeper.

“Sorry about the paperwork, I still have to set up my study. I have to put up my desk and everything.” Everyone voiced a consolation, some variation of ‘I don’t mind’ or ‘you should see my place’.

“Not the handyman?” Derek teased, wiggling his eyebrows. Spencer chuckled and shook his head. Spencer’s been smiling a lot more lately.

“I like keeping myself out of the hospital. Did you know every 45 minutes a piece of furniture falls on someone, and 25,000 people a year are treated at the hospital for a furniture related incident?” Spencer rattled off, emphasizing the numbers with his fingers.

Before anyone else could say anything, the doorbell rang. Spencer glanced back at the door, before he sprung to his feet with enthusiasm like he was expecting  Emily and Penelope exchanged looks, giggling while Rossi lightly rolled his eyes.

“Of course he knows that. Also, did any of you know that Spencer moved to a new place?” Derek asked.

“Well I knew. I know where all of you live. But it was very considerate of him to invite us over.” Hotch nodded, taking a sip of a bottle of water. Not Spencer’s usual brand but she did notice a switch some time ago. From Purelife to Poland Spring.

“Did you see the coat? Hanging by the door rack?” Penelope whispered, motioning for everyone to come in closer. There was a devilish twinkle in her eyes, her brain working overtime.

“What, you think he has some… extra company? A secret lover?” Rossi chuckled. Of course she noticed, but she just thought it was Penelope’s.

“Maybe! Do you think?” Penelope asked excitedly, her hands flapping around with enthusiasm. Oh Penelope, ever the romantic. Derek giggled next to Penelope. He was lightly smacked by Penelope as a rebuttal and he giggled as if the slaps tickled him and they heard Spencer’s reapproaching foot steps along with an extra pair of heels.

They all turned, eager to see who it was. Would it be the woman in the photo? His mom? Someone else?

“JJ!” Emily exclaimed when the final member of their team came in. She twisted around in her seat, happy to see her friend. JJ wasn’t able to make it on their last assignment so it had been a minute since they’d seen her. For people who practically live together, spending almost every moment together while at work was normal. They’d all fallen into a natural balance of being around each other. Of course they’d missed JJ while she was out sick.

“Hi!” She held her arms open for hugs, while the entire team voiced their hellos.

“Sorry I’m late, the grocery store was ridiculous. You wouldn’t believe what I saw, some lady's ex boyfriend came there and she called the cops on him like right there in the store. Apparently, he gave her something on purpose. She got on the speaker and called him ‘Dirty Dick David’. And then they fired her for playing with the mic that way!” She told her story while passing out hugs and then plopped down in the opposite arm chair across from the one Spencer was sitting in before.

“What?” Spencer laughed while he sat back down.

“Right there it happened.” The whole team was laughing and Emily remembered that this was why she got along with her team so well. The easy laughter was so simple and refreshing.

“Woah, right there is insane! I guess she was sick of him.” Emily leaned slightly into Penny, allowing herself more comfort

“Imagine being at work and your ex who purposely infected you with something shows up to both you? I’d be pissed too.” Derek chuckled.

“I’ve been through three wives and never got a reaction like that, Dirty Dick David certainly had it coming.” Rossi added before they all laughed even harder.

Then there was a loud ringing noise. Spencer’s phone was going off and he patted himself down, lifting himself up checking to see if he was sitting on it. Then he got up, his face making a tiny expression like he could finally recall.

“I’ll be right back guys.” He ran into the kitchen and Penelope pulled everyone into a huddle.

“Okay, here’s what you missed JJ, you ready?”

“I’m ready?” She asked with an arch eyebrow and a nervous smile.

“There’s a bunch of lady stuff around here, like a coat and I don’t know if you saw the shoes but there are a lot of lady shoes. Rossi was in the bathroom and saw a bunch of lady stuff too, like a special face cleanser but he didn’t wanna snoop. I think he should’ve gone for it but whatever. Also I don’t know if you know but I know that Spencer doesn’t cook.

His house is also really clean like really really clean like it was just clean but when would he have gotten the time to clean it? I mean we got off work like three hours ago. Running theories? Spencer has a housekeeper, a secret girlfriend, or his moms visiting. Got it? Okay, got it.”

JJ blinked after Garcia’s rapid rundown, Derek nodding like he was able to keep up with that and Hotch all around looked displeased.

“We are guests in Spencer’s home, don’t go looking through his stuff. Maybe Spencer likes that stuff, that’s not any of our concern.” He frowned with a crease in his eyebrows.

“Yeah Garcia, besides if Spence did get a girlfriend then I think that’s great for him.” JJ chuckled and Derek rubbed her shoulder comfortingly.

“I’m back! I picked up the shrimp and some wine. I also got some beers if you want any. The coolers are for me, you can have one but don’t take any of the pink ones. I like those ones.”  A familiar voice sounded through the house.

The sound of socks hitting the floor padded through the house and a young woman walked in. The woman from the photo more specifically. Her hair was in long braids that curled around her waist. She was gorgeous, a red scarf was wrapped around her neck to protect her from the chilly winter air. More specifically she was familiar.

More specifically she was from a different team. More specifically a member of the HRT. The Hostage Rescue Unit. They’ve seen Spencer speaking with her a lot. They’ve teased him for their closeness multiple times, and knew they were a bit closer. But Emily didn’t know they were such close friends. For her to just walk into his home this way.

No offense to Spencer but when Emily said she was hot, she meant she was hot. Like she just stepped out of a magazine. And she never thought Spencer would have it in him to pull. Spencer was certainly nothing to sneeze at but my god was this woman attractive.

She was making her way through the house, to the kitchen lightly waddling. She held a bag of groceries and as if she could feel all the eyes on her she turned.

“Oh hi! I’m sorry, I ran out to the grocery store. I didn’t realize we ran out of shrimp but the food will be done soon.” She beamed at them and put one of her hands on her hips. And Emily did as profilers do. She profiled even if she didn’t truly mean too. She was wearing pajama pants, and a puffy coat that was zipped open to reveal a white tank top. Above all she radiated joy, confidence and comfort.

“It’s nice to see you again.” Hotch cleared his throat, and she nodded at the members of the BAU.

“You got the shrimp?” Spencer called, coming out of the kitchen, slipping his phone into the pocket of his pants. He came up behind her, wrapping an arm around her waist. She instinctively angled her head to his and pushed herself up onto her tippy toes to plant a kiss on his lips.

Penelope was on the verge of exploding, her mouth open in a wide grin. She let out an excited squeal. The two agents jumped upon hearing the high pitched noise and everyone on the couch turned to face her.

“What?! Oh my god, when were you gonna tell us?!” Penelope asked, bounding up from the couch. Spencer looked confused above all as Penelope raced towards him and his apparent girlfriend.

“I didn’t think I had to, we weren’t exactly shy about it.” Spencer laughed as he looked at Penelope basically bouncing up and down in front of him. She giggled and Penelope paused.

“Dude we thought you were just friends?” Derek questioned from the couch. Spencer shook his head, looking more and more shocked by the second.

“So how long has this been going on?” Emily asked with a laugh. She had to laugh! How could she not be happy for Spencer? He looked so happy, he literally hadn’t stopped smiling since she came into the door and they kissed.

“Like a year? I mean, I know we jumped the gun with moving, but my lease was up and I decided that this would work and I couldn’t find anywhere close enough to work. We decided to go for it.” Spencer added, scratching the back of his neck.

“You guys really had no idea? I mean I tell you guys that we go out every weekend, I have a picture of her on my desk. We literally come to work together everyday.” Spencer exclaimed, motioning around with his hands.

“I don't see you that often at work, they probably don’t really notice those things.” She rationalized to him and rubbed a hand over his chest. He never moved his hand from around her waist.

It all made sense. The candles littered around the house, the small basket of yarn and needles on the floor next to one of the arm chairs. The food even smelt too seasoned to be like anything Spencer could cook, the photos that Emily was just now realizing were taken of Spencer. The romance novel that Emily saw sitting on the glass coffee table. How spotless the entire house was. The shoes, the coat, Emily was just mad at herself for not recognizing the photo.

“Well. Way to go Reid, I didn’t know you had it in you.” She smirked at Derek’s remark and stood on her toes again. She whispered something in Spencer’s ear and he cackled with his mouth open in shock.

He was turning a bashful shade of red and his voice squeaked as he sent her away.

“I’ll be finished with your food soon, you guys.” Trailing into the kitchen, Spencer glanced over as if to check if she needed anything.

“Oh gosh, you didn’t have to cook for us! Thank you so much!” Emily exclaimed, realizing that she was just sitting there like a fish with her mouth wide open.

“Let her cook, why not enjoy dinner and a movie?” Rossi joked. It seemed like the shock had dissipated and JJ giggled, her blonde hair shining like the Sun and Emily noted how her entire face lit up like a star.

“Honey, can you come help me with these groceries?” Spencer nodded, following her into the kitchen. They watched, waiting to watch them fully go into the kitchen. Then like little girls at a sleepover, they leaned back into their huddle.

“Wow!”

“Let’s not get too ahead of ourselves.” Hotch tried to keep the peace before his team of impatient agents ran rampant. Emily herself felt like she needed answers and she needed them now.

“Did you see the way he looked at her? They’re so cute, I had a feeling when he came to work that one time smelling like perfume and wearing the same clothes but they were like all up on each other.” Penelope whispered excitedly.

“I always knew opposites attract. You know they make a handsome couple too.” The excitement died down for a second and everyone had to look at Rossi. Who even used that phrasing anymore?

“You’re so old, Rossi.” JJ giggled and Hotch shook his head. Rossi smiled playfully, the way he always did when they made fun of him for being ancient.

“What do they even talk about? I mean sure they have stuff in common but for a whole year? I wasn’t expecting that!” Emily exclaimed.

“Reid’s never short on things to talk about.” Derek teased and Penelope swatted him again.

“I mean I noticed he’d been a bit happier but I wasn’t expecting this! I guess you just never know.” JJ added in, glancing over to the kitchen to make sure the two weren’t standing right there.

“We can find out what they talk about.” No one wanted to admit it but they wanted to snoop so bad. So bad that when Penelope suggested it the best thing to do was to stop talking and be extra quiet so they could hear. Even Hotch, slowly reclined.

Over the clatter of pans, the soft clinking of bottles and things being put away, and dishes being taken out they heard her voice.

“Emily brought us some wine. Pink.” Spencer’s voice broke through and Emily tensed up. Oh god, what if they hated the wine?

“Oh my favorite. I’ve always liked that Emily. If it wasn’t for you, I’d go for her.” She laughed and plopped something into what sounded like a liquid.

Derek made some funny eyebrows at Emily and Emily felt her cheeks heat up. JJ and Penelope both grabbed each other to stifle a laugh. As bad as it was to listen to your teammate and his girlfriend's conversation, they couldn’t stop.

“Aw babe don’t pout.” Then a kissing noise.

“There’s that smile. Also I picked up some condoms, we were down to six and you know we go through those like crazy. Speaking of which, I was thinking, do we really need those? I mean I’m on the pill and at the rate we go we’d save more money just not having sex. To be honest we spend a bit too much money on that stuff anyways and I don’t want to replace another bed frame. I like this one and we literally just got it. That or we just need to stop having sex so often. The call is totally yours but that bitch who works at the front cashier keeps looking at me funny everytime she sees me walk up.” It took a moment for everyone to process what she was talking about. It really took a moment. An identical frown spread over both Rossi and Hotch, and Derek had to put his fist in his mouth to avoid cackling.

Oh god, this was an awful idea. Now there was just awkward silence. None of them could say anything even if they wanted to.

“So my options are death, death or going raw?” Spencer whined immediately.  Emily focused her eyes on something else instantly, the patterned carpet on the floor, the TV that was showing different scenery as it was in rest mode.

“Oh my god, you are so dramatic! You’re not going to die if we don’t have sexy every day.” The sound of a spoon clattering down and then she broke out into a fit of giggles.

“But how do you know!” He whined again.

“Like I said, it's your choice. It doesn’t really matter to me, I’m just sick of always having to go to the store. And you’re squeezing my ribs.”

“I like your idea. Besides, we have abortion money.” She gasped softly and then broke into light laughter. JJ’s jaw dropped open and Derek snorted before he covered his nose. Of everything that was expected it wasn’t that.

“That’s awful, baby.” She scolded and Emily got a mental image of the two. Was she standing in front of the stove, the smell of food wafting through the house, Spencer standing behind her with arms wrapped firmly around her? If Emily wasn’t so uncomfortable right now her mouth would be watering. It would also warm her heart to hear how happy her friend was.

“I’m sorry.” He joined in on the laughter.

“Oh my god we’re being awful host! Plate up the soup and I’ll pour the wine.”

Once the two came back out, it was hard to even look at Spencer knowing that he had apparently helped break a bed frame. Even if he was holding trays of the most mouth watering gumbo.

“Who wants to watch Interstellar?”

Dredging Up the Past❤️‍🩹

a part two to Everyone’s Replaceable

Pairing: Spencer Reid x Black!Fem!Reader (FBI Agent), Reader x BAU

Relationship: passive-aggressive, a little hostile at first

Category: angst to semi-fluff

Summary: the sequel to Everyone’s Replaceable in which Y/N L/N is reunited with her former team members, the B.A.U., but not in the way you’d expect…

Content Warnings: hospital, cursing, mentions of crimes against children, implication of kidnapping— lmk if I missed anything<3

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

It’s been seven months since my outburst at the B.A.U.. I would be lying if I said that I didn’t miss the chemistry that seemed to radiate off of my conversations with my former coworkers, but working away from them has been a refreshing experience.

After JJ turned in my resignation sticky note, Hotch immediately called me and asked me to explain the reason as to why I acted the way I did. Without a second thought, I listed off everything the doctors told me, even suggesting that I turn in a copy of my visitation logs to prove I wasn’t lying. I guess he believed me, because he allowed me to transfer into the Crimes Against Children Unit.

It’s still in Virginia, but a fresh start is a fresh start.

As I walk into the office building, my eyes trace over the text Katie sent me a little over an hour ago, insisting that I come into work on my day off to assist in a huge case that would require the attention of another unit. My shiny heels click across the floor as I approach a group of people standing around a case board. From the back, they look familiar, but once they turn around, my brain shuts down.

The B.A.U.

I almost want to kick myself for standing there and staring, mouth agape, looking like an idiot, but my brain can’t seem to string together any sentences to express how I feel right now— mainly because I don’t know what I feel.

Seven months is a long time to hang onto something, and, while I forgive them, I can’t forget what they did, How they made me feel. The only thing I remember feeling on my first day back at the office was unbridled rage.

I don’t even realize I’m still staring until Morgan clears his throat. “Hi, Y/N,” he says, voice barely above a whisper. “I-I… what? How?” My mind races a mile a minute as I stutter out my response. “Why, Katie? Why didn’t you tell me they were coming?!” The distress and horror in my voice causes Katie’s brows to furrow in contemplation. “I’m sorry, Y/N. We were getting nowhere and I had to make the call.” “That doesn’t mean you couldn’t have told me!” I fire back, oblivious to the fact that my former colleagues are still present. “Y/N,” Katie says sternly. “Now’s not the time. Let’s save this conversation for another time, yeah?” “Fine.” I place my bag on the conference table and cross my arms.

“It’s nice to see you all again,” I lie, plastering a fake smile to my face. “It’s been, what, seven months, 3 weeks, and nineteen days?” JJ raises her eyebrows at me. “Hi, Y/N,” Emily says, going in for a handshake that I politely reciprocate, making a mental note to wash my hands as soon as possible. To be honest, I didn’t think I’d still be angry after all this time, but the urge to be petty is creeping up into my chest and making it impossible to stay polite. I shake hands with everyone except Spencer, and for once, I’m glad he’s a germaphobe— he’s been here an hour and I’m already sick of him.

The case seems to drag on— no new leads, clues, locations, or names. The downside to this is that it means spending more time with Spencer, whom I’m trying to build a geological profile with. “All of these girls are being found here,” I say, using a red marker to mark each of the locations the girls were found. “We have more than enough locations to build a geographical profile, and yet, we’ve come up with nothing.” The frustration leaks into my tone as I talk aloud. A geographical profile is always easier to build when you’re not-technically-an-ex ex boyfriend is looking over you. “That’s because the locations are too spread out to narrow it down without having too many variables,” Spencer’s smart-ass mouth replies. Every word that comes out of his mouth only makes me want to punch him, hard. “I know that, genius,” I scoff. “I’m just trying to help you,” he says, turning to look at me. “Like you did when I was in the hospital?” The retort slips out of my mouth before my brain can register what I said, and by the time it does, my heart is racing so fast I feel like I could pass out. Spencer’s jaw falls open just a little, allowing me to bask in the sudden glory that came from rendering the smart mouth speechless.

“How’s your girlfriend?” I ask, abandoning the case board to glare at him. “What’s her name? I’m thinking it was Y/N, since you couldn’t tell the fucking difference.” For the first time in seven months, I get a good, long look at Spencer. His hair is neatly gelled to the side so that a section is hanging in front of his eye, and he’s just as cleanly shaven as I remember him to be. His big, brown eyes lost their familiar spark after I ended up in the hospital— I only remember because my good friend Penelope told me all about it. Spencer’s slightly chapped, pink lips are sucked into his teeth as he struggles to form an answer to my statement. “What’s wrong?” I tease, bathing in the embarrassed look on his face. “All those words in your brain and you can’t figure out what to say to me?”

“She’s not my girlfriend.”

I almost laugh at how quiet his voice sounds. “Really?” I ask. “‘Cause that’s not what it looked like to me.”

“She’s not my girlfriend,” Spencer repeats.

“Whatever,” I scoff again. “Where is she, anyway?”

“She quit,” he mumbles.

Now that revelation causes me to laugh. “I’m happy for her,” I admit through giggles. “At least she managed to save herself.” Something inside of Spencer snaps, because his eyes darken and his expression turns cold. “God, you’re such a-a…” he stutters, clearly holding back his annoyance. The innocent, sweet boy I had left behind wouldn’t have dared to yell at me, so I’m intrigued as to what he has to say. “Such a what?” I taunt, a grin on my face. “A child,” Spencer snaps.

Oh.

I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t surprised that he actually insulted me. Luckily for me and unfortunately for him, his little comment fails to faze me. If anything, it eggs me on. “Now that’s more like it,” I tell him. “What else have you got, or is that it? Poor baby can’t even get a word out.”

What he says next isn’t at all what I expected to hear.

“Wanna know the real truth as to why I couldn’t see you?!” Spencer exclaims, chest heavily rising and falling with each angry inhale. “Sure,” I reply. “Other than to cheat.” “I didn’t cheat on you, Y/N! Would you stop saying that?!” “Just tell me why you didn’t come see me,” I say, ignoring his request. “I don’t have all fucking day.” “My mom’s schizophrenia worsened and none of the medications were helping!” My heart stops. If there’s one thing I always loved in the world, it was Diana Reid— the most light-hearted, kindest soul on the planet. Spencer doesn’t even wait for a response before he continued. “I had to fly back to Vegas to check on her, and it was so bad to the point where, even if you told her to, she wouldn’t remember to eat!” Something warm and foreign fills my eyes before I even get the chance to register what they are.

Tears.

A single one slips down my cheek at his confession, and as he continues, they don’t stop. “We tried every medication— everything— and it wasn’t working. Y/N, believe me when I say that I thought about you every day. I wouldn’t have left you on life support on purpose, I swear to God. I loved you so much, Y/N. More than you think.” Spencer’s knuckles are white from being balled up into angry fists that reside at his sides, and through my blurry tears, I can tell he’s crying, too. My body, like a magnet, finds itself tangled up in a confusing, comforting hug as we cry together in front of a case board with pictures full of scared children. It feels so unfamiliar and strange to be hugging the man who broke my heart, but I can’t bring myself to pull away, even if I wanted to. “I-I…” Fuck. Now it’s me who doesn’t know what to say. “God, Spencer, I’m so sorry, I… I don’t know, I just— fuck, I…I don’t know what to feel anymore.” And it’s true. Resentment for my ex boyfriend has been flushed out of my system and replaced by another weird feeling, one I can’t fully place a finger on. “It’s okay,” he shuffles, still clinging to me like a lanky koala. “I should’ve told you.”

“It’s your private business,” I tell him “You don’t have to tell anybody.”

“We had been dating for so long that you had a right to know,” he points out.

That’s the keyword— had. Now that the air has been cleared of leftover hatred, I genuinely don’t know how to feel about Spencer anymore. We’re just two broken people who managed to find each other again. “What about the rest of the team?” I ask as we separate, sniffling and wiping stray tears from our sticky cheeks. “I can’t speak for them,” Spencer replies. His words bestow a blanket of silence upon the conference room, leaving us staring at our shoes like little kids who’ve just been scolded.

“What happens now?” I ask.

“I don’t know,” Spencer admits.

No words can fit the predicament I’ve found myself in. Part of me knows that I shouldn’t have to apologize for the rightful outburst I had months ago, but I can’t help but feel guilty that Spencer was harboring all this pain while we were dating, and he didn’t think to tell me.

“I could’ve helped” I finally say.

“How?”

“I don’t know! Emotional support, maybe?”

Spencer laughs dryly and sits down. “We, uh, we better get back to the geographical profile,” he says, motioning to the barely-touched map. “Right,” I confirm.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

The case ended quicker than I wanted it to, although I’m sure I would’ve loved it that way if Spencer didn’t confess his secret to me. Katie gives the B.A.U. another round of handshakes, as do I, and one by one, they exit the building— all except Spencer. “So, uh, Y/N…” he trails off. “Yeah?” “C-Can we, y’know, like, talk sometime?” My heart stops at his question, but I manage to compile an, “Over coffee?” “S-Sure,” he stammers, handing me a folded piece of paper. “Here’s my number— I’m sure you deleted it after we… y’know…” He’s right, I did, but that’s not what makes my head spin. This feels exactly like when he first asked me out— from the coffee date to the folded piece of paper. “Next Thursday sound okay?” I ask, pocketing the note. “Yeah,” Spencer says. “It’s a date.” A warm blush creeps up his neck and the tiniest smile forms on his lips. I smile back and fidget with my fingers, my body refusing to move. “B-Bye,” he stammers, waving as he turns to leave. “Bye,” I respond, watching ad he walks off towards the SUVs. Katie grins and punches me in the arm. “Lovergirl.” “I don’t know about that,” I admit, allowing a laugh to escape my lips. “Whatever you say, Y/N.”

Spencer Reid x Black!Fem!Reader Synopsis: Reader is new to the BAU and discovers that she has similar qualities to another coworker…

A/N: This is based off that one Spencer Reid fic that was basically the same concept but I can’t remember the exact name 😔 + I kinda had early seasons Reid in mind for this but it really goes for any season

“Did you hear about the new kid?” Penelope asked, making her way over to JJ’s desk.

“New kid?” She questioned.

“Well, y’know. She’s around Reid’s age, and I heard that she’s practically just like him. Besides some physical differences.” She explained.

“Oh yeah, I saw. It’s pretty weird.” Elle told them.

“Wait, shh! Here she comes now!” Penelope whisper shouted as you made your way over to them.

“Um, do you guys know where Hotchner’s office is?” You asked them awkwardly, making them glance at each other, obviously entertained.

“Yeah, but he’s in a meeting right now.” Penelope lied.

“Oh…” You said, before quickly glancing at Penelope’s shirt, which was littered with cartoon cats. “Do you like cats?” You asked her, still looking at her shirt, causing her to raise an eyebrow.

“Yeah…why?”

“Did you know that most cats are actually lactose intolerant? Some can love milk, but most are. Plus, cats can’t taste anything sweet.” You informed, holding up your index finger.

The three women looked at each other in amusement. “Really?” You nodded.

“Also, did you know that the first black female FBI agent was Sylvia Elizabeth Mathis? I know that fact technically only applies to me, but…interesting factoid I guess..” You rambled.

“It’s worse than we thought…” Penelope whispered. “What is?” You asked, worried.

“You know, I think there’s someone that you’d get along pretty well with…” JJ suggested.

“Really? Who?”

“Reid!” The three of them called, making a tall and slender young man come rushing to JJ’s desk.

 “New initiative.” Penelope said.

“You two have…a lot in common.” JJ finished.

You hold your hand out for him to shake, and he does as such.

“Nice to meet you…”

“Y/N.” You finished. “Did you know that the earliest depiction of a handshake was from an ancient Assyrian relief from-”

“9th Century BC? I know.” Spencer finished.

“Well…shucks. I’m not exactly used to not being the smartest.”

“You can be the smartest female! I’m willing to give up my title..” Penelope half-joked, making you chuckle.

“That’d be nice.”

“Well, Reid? Why don’t you show the young lady around?”

“Sure.” He replied, motioning for you to follow him.

You two had barely left the spot when Hotchner emerged from his office.

“Reid,” He called, making both of you stop in your tracks. “I see you’ve beaten me to welcoming our new kid.” He said smiling.

“Sorry sir,” Reid sheepishly apologized. “If you want, I can-”

“No no, I think you’ve got it.” He told him with a wink.

pairing : spencer reid x black!reader

Under Your Mattress

you and spencer had been dating for around a year now, and you felt as close as you humanly could. but every human has its secrets, every single last one of them, including you.

that smile plastered on your face every day when you stepped into the office fell just as fast when you stepped out those walls. those very crowded walls that you called your workplace, and sure work made you happy, the bau family made you the happiest and so did spencer. but you didn't understand happiness, before this monumental change in your daily routine. as a kid, you lived in las vegas, in one of the poorest and crime-filled neighborhoods, compared to your boyfriend. he was a child prodigy, he knew nothing other than being so, but you, oh jesus you knew. you have lived as a naive girl, an antisocial teenager, and a once-running-from-cops sort of girl. you have lived many lifetimes in this small one that you own now, you were currently twenty-one years old.

you have gone completely sober, with no alcohol, no parties, and only the occasional smoking here and there. for these unspeakable things you have done, you had a journal that you hid under your bed, it was an old shoe box from one of your childhood pairs of shoes. sure it seems weird in your mind when you pull out the now faded sparkly box of some light-up shoe you forgot the name of, but the piles of letters and notes in there explained your every thought from every living moment of your life. surprisingly this wasn't a problem, you've had roommates, and partners who never really questioned the late hours of the night when they could see that iconic box being pulled out and you sitting on the floor with a pair of soundproof headphones. it was your safe haven, and you honestly didn't want anyone to disturb that, that was until you met spencer.

he was nosy, and everyone knew it, which wasn't a bad thing, in fact in some cases it was good. but not in this one, never would it be good in this one, the things you had in that box were sacred. you thought of it like the bible, writing every waking moment you could remember, and with that came good and the bad. it was an early saturday morning, spencer decided to stay over after the movie marathon you both had last night, and you not knowing any better sat your sorry ass on the floor and began to write. you wrote how you enjoyed spencers company, how you adored him and his words and his being in general. it was different with him, it really was, no one has ever treated you with so much respect, love, and care. not even your own father could come to this point, and your absolutely adored spence for that, you worshiped the ground he walked on like he was some god. so you wrote and wrote, and even as your fingers grew cramped and numb you didn't put the mechanical pencil in your hand down.

you didn't take notice of spencers not so sleeping eyes for staring daggers into the back of your head. this night has opened my eyes by the smiths was blaring in your ears and you had no plan on stopping the sweet melodies that studied your ears at this moment until you felt the bed shift, spencer was trying to catch a peak. he knew about your journaling habit but he had never seen it up close and personal, and he had never dreamed of it, he knew this was something close and personal to you. but what person doesn't wanna get an insight into their partners' life before they were together? when you felt the bed shift you swiftly closed the journal, with the long drawstring that kept it closed, carefully placed it inside the box, and slid it under your bed, into the darkness once again. you knew nearly everything about spencer, but he knew only so much about you. you didn't talk about your family, not much anyways, you always said things like, “oh yeah my childhood was fine, had my mom and dad, and i grew up alright.” but as a profiler spencer knew there were wounds deep below the surface.

you removed your headphones from your ears and before you could speak spencer beat you to it, “easy there tiger, i'm not gonna look at your journal.” he said in a rather silly way. it made you giggle, “yeah i know spence, just didn't expect you to be up so early!” you brightly said as your climbed back onto the bed, forgetting all about the music playing on your phone. you cuddled next to him, his slim form molding into yours. you like mornings like this, the silence of the birds outside and the sun shining hitting spencers eyes just right, letting them melt into a pool that you could drown in. “want some breakfast spence, it's on the house” on the house was a joke you'd both usually make, he initially met you when you were a waitress, waiting to get into the law field but things didn't take off yet. you worked at the infamous waffle house, yup a fucking waffle house. still, you two didn't start dating until you moved your work to the bau. “sure thing baby, i bet it's gonna be delicious,” and with that you were out of his arms and making your way to your little apartment kitchen, waiting for him to follow behind.

you wanted to trust him, trust that he was just soaking in the sunlight but your mind begged you to think otherwise. so after a few seconds, you came back and peeked your head in, and he seemed to be in deep thought. “hey spence, you coming?” he snapped out of it, and just nodded his head full of curls as he got up from the bed. you spent most of the morning fooling around and eating breakfast, knowing soon enough you had to clock in while spence got to stay back. the hours before that dreadful call at twelve were spent watching your favorite movie, midsommar. spencer found it weird but jesus you couldn't deny it was your favorite. eventually, that dreadful phone call came ringing in, and you knew your lazy morning with spencer was coming to an end. you hurried and got ready, not trying to spend any more time fooling around, more than you already had been. within thirty-five minutes you were ready, your hair in its naturally curly state and you made sure to make yourself look presentable. you were grabbing your bag on your way to the door when spencer stopped you, his tall figure now standing against yours, “you sure you don't want me to drive you?” he asked. you would've said yes if it wasn't for the fact that you had to work late, “no thank you spence, gotta work a little later today! but don't wait up for me, you deserve your rest!” and with a couple of couple kisses to his lips and cheek you were out the door with your cross body bookbag and a light coat.

spencer was left all alone in your apartment, not that he minded by any means, but jesus curiosity was eating him from the inside out. he wandered to your room a couple of times, sitting in the same position as you a couple of times. every time he decided to get up and walk right back to the couch, he couldn't disrespect you like that, he just couldn't. but one look wouldn't hurt, right? how much can a book really contain if he was thinking realistically, many people only write minor things in these sorts of things. so once again he was on the same floor, now facing the bedroom door. he knew what he was doing was wrong, but he needed to know. so he started reading, and at first, there wasn't anything major. it was dated all the way from when you were fifteen and there were multiple journals and letters in this box so this could take a while. almost every passage had an opinion about one of the letters which were all numbered. he feared that maybe they were suicide notes, but as he flipped each one over they had addresses on them, mostly the same one, but some changed depending on the year. he opened number one, reading it before reading the passage about it, these were all from your father. you had told spencer your father was very much in your life and that he always had been. but these letters date back years, years before these journals were even made.

he kept reading and reading and didn't stop, his eyes reading every page rapidly because you wrote a lot with those delicate hands of yours. once he reached letter ten he stopped, it was around eight-thirty now, and he knew that you'd be arriving in a little. so he put the letters and first journal back into the box. sliding it back under the bed just as you did hours before, he let himself sit on the bed. letting everything he read sink in, and there was a lot to let sink in. a part of him felt like he didn't know you, he didn't know any of this before he decided to snoop and maybe it was a good thing he snooped. he learned a lot, about your father being in prison for all of your life, your mother's abusive tendencies, the fucked up things about your siblings and even the worst parts of yourself. he let his head fall into his hands, dragging them down his face and sighing in a stressful manner.

he didn't know you at all, he knew this idealized version of yourself that you created, this fake person. he laid himself on the bed and turned off the bedside light, nothing but the moon letting light into the room, and he soon drifted to sleep. around three-thirty in the morning he felt the bed dip, he wondered if you had just gotten in or if you had been writing for hours. he cuddled against you, no matter what he still loved you, even if what he knew was fake. maybe one day you’d feel comfortable enough to share these secrets with him but for now, these secrets would be held within his mind, until they were bought to light one day.

Every Time

Spencer peek through the clear glass window of the BAU looking for you, he slowly opened the door looking around as walks to his desk.

Spencer been avoiding you as of late, which is hard since you two work and travel together. The two of you been dating for a good six months, he is your first real relationship that you since you spend more time working than having an actual social life like the rest of your colleagues.

"Prentiss. Morgan. Gracia." Spencer came up to the trio standing near the coffee pot with mugs in their hands, they all mutter out a good morning to him as he came to stand in front of them.

"Are you alright, spence?" Prentiss ask watching him look around the office before back at them.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Look what I got." The three look at each other puzzled before watching Spencer dig in his bag and pull out an black medium square box, Penelope gasp putting her hand over her mouth as Emily stare at the box with wide eyes and Derek choked on his coffee.

"Reid, i-is that what I think it is?" Gracia ask with her hand on her chest looking at the box.

"Yeah," he smiled opening the box, "I got her a necklace for our six month anniversary," Gracia shoulders slump with a frown at the necklace inside.

"Why is it in a ring box?" Prentiss questions as they walk to their desk.

"No idea, but look..." he shove the box in their peripheral vision, "I had someone make a roman pendant of Salus, she was a roman goddess of safety and well-being as well as health, welfare, and prosperity. She is sometimes equated with the Greek goddess Hygieia, though their functions differ considerably."

Spencer discharged his messenger bag on his desk and lean against it as the trio pass it around to take a good look at it, Prentiss handed it back to Spencer making him look down at it with a smile.

"Must have cost a fortune." She said, Spencer shrugged his shoulders, it cost a lot but you were worth it.

"I like it. It's thoughtful." Penelope said with a smile looking at Reid.

"Thank you, I'm actually having a hard time contemplating when to give it to her," he said looking down at the box in his hand.

"Well, you better think quick because she's coming through the door now," Morgan said leaning bsck in his chair, Spencer look up to see you walking behind Rossi and Hotch looking at your phone with an coffee in your other hand.

"Okay, I'm doing it." Penelope gave him two thumbs up, Prentiss went to Derek's desk leaning against it.

"How much you wanna bet, the box is gonna be close when he gives it to her." Morgan grin muttering 'deal' before reaching into his pocket for his wallet, Prentiss smiles as she crossed her arms and look over at Spencer walking towards you.

You glance away from your phone to see reid coming towards you with his hands behind his back, you stop midway watching as he nod towards Rossi and Hotch.

"Hey, babe." You say as reid stop in front of you.

"Hey," he says back with a wide smile, he stares at you for a while making you narrow your eyes at him.

"What you got there?" You ask motioning towards whatever behind his back.

"Something special," He said swaying his body.

"You don't say," You bring the coffee cup to your lips and drain the rest of the sweet caffeine.

The group watch as reid remove his hands from his back and show you the box, your eyes widen and you choke on your coffee.

Prentiss grin in triumph as Morgan hand his head back in defeat, Reid patted your back as you cough. When you finally calm down and ask him why he haves that he chuckles and opens it up to show you the necklace inside.

"My gift to you," he said taking the necklace out and moving around to go behind you, you felt the cool medal against around your neck and against your chest.

"Spence, I love it, but..." You say looking at the necklace of the Roman goddess, Salus, the only reason you know who it is is because your fan of roman and Greek mythology, "Whats the occasion." You ask walking ahead of him to throw away your coffee cup.

"It's june." He says, you furrow your bows slightly as you open the fridge and grab a water bottle that you left a day prior.

"Okay," You say bit confuse as you twist the cap from the bottle as you face reid, he frown and then told you it was also the seventeenth.

"Hmm." You walk by him making him follow after you to your desk, you took a gulp from the water before putting it on the desk and removing your coat.

When you look back at Spencer, your brows deepen when you see him staring at you with his hurt puppy dog eyes and small frown.

"What?" You watch as he clench his jaw and look at you.

"It's june 17." He sigh making you shrug your shoulder and look over at the group as they watch with frowns before looking back at him.

"You said that and I still don't..." you stop and blink at him, "oh, crap." You screw close your eyes and curse yourself.

"Yeah," he crossed his arms, you open your eyes and look at him.

"Spence–" you cut off by hotch's door, you all look over at him as he held up a file before making his way to the conference room.

The others grab their things and made their way up to the room, you look back at Spencer as he was already stating at you.

"We can deal with this later." You said before walking away up the stairs, Spencer sigh looking down at the box.

He walk over to the trash can next to your chair and threw it in before going to work.

🎁

You wring out your arms and move your stiff neck side to side, the plan ride was a bitch especially since you didn't have your favorite pillow sitting next to you. You and the rest walked into the office around ten thirty, thank god it was one of those days where nobody got hurt, you move to your desk and grab your coat. You look down and see the box that the necklace was in, you move away and follow out the rest of the team to the elevators.

You and Spence wave to Penelope and Derek as they walk to their cars, you turn away from them to see Spencer walking to your car making you roll your eyes and jog after him.

"Hey, you wanna come back to my place, we can order out. " you say when you drop into the driver's seat, you look at Spence as he let out a yawn that sounded a bit fake and rub his eyes.

"I think I'm just gonna go home, and call it a night." he say leaning back into the seat.

"You can sleep at my place," he shook his head.

"None of my work clothes are at your place, and I really do not want to wake up early to drive across town to get ready, so yeah."

"Tommow our day off." You said as you start the car, reid fold his arms and lean against the car door.

"You can remember that but not our anniversary," you look at reid as pretends to sleep making you shake your head and pull out of your parking spot.

The drive was spent in silence with only the jazz station playing in the background, you tried to change to something a little bit more beat but reid would always smack your hand away. You thought he was suppose to be asleep but you guess his mad enough to wake up and slap your hand away from the dials, you pull into a parking spot and cut off the car making you unbuckle your seatbelt.

Reid opened his eyes and look out the window before sitting up and looking at the familiar setting through the windowshield.

"This isn't my apartment building." He said.

"Get out of the car, Spencer." You pull the key out and into your left pocket.

"You know I can hot wire your car, right?" Your door was open when you look at reid.

"You know I have a gun, right?" You said back making reid grumble under his breathe and unbuckle his seatbealt, you got out and wait for Spencer to do the same.

You walk up the stairs to your flat as reid stand couple feet behind you brooding.

"You know this is consider kidnapping, you forcing me to be here is kidnapping." He said as he stood behind you making you sigh as you dig in your pocket for your keys.

"Reid, I know I screwed up, but maybe we can still salvage the rest of our anniversary with a dinner and a movie." You say finally finding the key and putting it in the keyhole.

"No, thanks. I rather just go to bed and forget this entire day ever..." Spencer trailed off when you turn on the lights, he stood in the archway in awe at your flat.

There were red strings everywhere with red balloons all over the floor and roses that painted the couch, you grab reid's hand pulling in before shutting the door as he move further into the apartment. He looked into your kitchen and say a small white cake with red writing on it say 'happy anniversary spency', along with a couple more floating balloons just hooving there.

"HM6SA?" He said looking at the floating purple letters and number.

"Happy 6 Month Anniversary, Spence." You said, Reid turn around to look at you as you smile at him, you laugh when he march over to you and engulf you in a hug.

"Your the worst." He said.

"And yet your still here, so I can't be that bad." You giggle again as you rock him in your arms, "And, hey, I still got some more stuff up my sleeve," You said pulling away and going over to your drawer near the stove and taking out your gift, you walk up to him and held out a rectangular box for hin to take.

"Hmmm, by the length and width of the box, along with the perfect wrap wrapping paper around it–"

"Open the present before I fling it into the trash can and really ruin our anniversary," Spencer brows bounce before he took the gift and unwrap it making you watch anxious, you look at his reaction as he open the box.

"I didn't know what to get you, so I saw this cool thing that gracia sent me on pinterest a well back and thought of you." Spence look at the bracelet in the box that were suppose to be the eight planets of the solar system, he look up at you with a small smile.

"This is the best gift you could have ever given me," You glance away with smile feeling a bit bashful, he ask you to help him put it on and you did just that before getting up on your tippy toes to give him a peck on his lips.

"Happy Anniversary, babe." He smile.

"Happy Anniversary."

Begging You

Begging You

It was the middle of the night when you woke, you stretch out your body and your hand went to the left side of the bed hoping to snuggling up to reid. But, your arm fall on a empty cold space, you snap your eyes opened before sitting up slowly, the bathroom door was close and inside was dark so he wasn't in there. You push the thick cover off your body before scooting off the bed and sliding on your fuzzy slippers, you out into the hall seeing the house was pitch dark, you hit the switch for the hallway before walking downstairs.

The kitchen light was off and so was reid's office that was down the hall, you frown looking around confuse, it wasn't until you heard a creak from outside that made you slowly turn your heard towards the back sliding door. You back up out of the kitchen before peeking around the corner and saw the deck was lit up and a figure was sitting on the stairs. You walk over to the sliding door and gently slide it open making spencer turn his head to look at you, you give hima small smile as he does the same before turn back towards the spacious yard.

"Hey, babe. You couldn't sleep?" You ask taking a seat next to him.

"I had another nightmare." He whisper making you lean against him with your hand on his knee.

"Want to talk about it?" Spencer look at you, the sadness and tiredness from his eyes made you frown.

"I think this one is best saved for tara," he joke but you could tell it had grief behind it.

"That bad, huh." He nodded.

"But, hey you don't need to worry about it," You gave him a look.

"But, i do, spencer. It seems like ever since hotch and morgan left your nightmares have become frequent." Spencer bows his head, "I'm starting to get concern about your mental–"

"Honey, please." He beg making me lower my shoulders, "I already have prentiss constantly badgering me about going to a therapist, please don't start too."

"Have you ever thought maybe, she has a point, you been through a lot this past year–"

"Yeah, I know I was there." He snap making you bite your bottom lip at his frustration, you didn't take it to heart you know how stress he been since prentiss put him on leave, "...I'm sorry, honey, I didn't mean...I'm just..." he sigh putting his head in his hand.

"I know your reckless, I get it."

You both sat in silence. The sound of the crickets in the air reminded you of the time, you and spencer went back home to nevada to check out your old childhood home.

"...hey, you remember that time when we climb that huge oak tree in my backyard when we were kids and you ended up falling out of it because, shoot what happen again..." you ask looking at him, spencer's lips curve at the memory and shook his head.

"I was attack by squirrel–"

"You were attack by a squirrel, gosh..." You lean your head back as you giggle, "...that was most hilarious thing I seen, and you remember what your mom said when was cleaning up your cheek." You grin.

"She said, this is what children get when they don't listen to their mothers, disfigured the day before picture day." He smile with his knee knocking your own, you shook your head at the memory.

"And she had to put cake of make-up on you to hide the little scatches from the squirrel." He chuckle nodding his head, you watch him as the tension in his face slolwy disappear.

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure I look like I was about to fall asleep with how heavy that make up was on me." You giggle remembering his face, one of his eyes were half open while the other one was completely close.

We grew quiet again with a peaceful ambience between us, you glance at reid before looking out as the fireflies start to glow up the backyard.

"...you know that was one of the scariest moments of my life." You turn your head to look at spencer as he look back at you with a small frown, "...seeing you there on the ground in pain, it scared the hell outta me all I could think is 'it's my fault, it was for me he probably be okay,' I blame myself for months for what happen." You sigh bowing your head back before looking at him.

"What I am trying to say is that I worked through it just like i work through you going on your long trips and dangerous assignments by talking to someone. It doesn't have to be a therapist or me. But, you can't hold whatever in here..." You press your index finger to his temple, "...forever because than it gets to be too much and it overflows out into our lives, and I don't want that to happen." You out your hand over his as it rest on his thigh.

"So, please, spence whatever going through that weird machine you call a brain, let it out, write down in a notebook. Hell, sew it on a pillow for all I care, just please no more holding it in. For us." You grab his hand putting in his lap resting it his hand on your four months belly bump, spencer look down at your stomach and his hand rub the small bump with a small smile.

"Do you have any clients tomorrow?" He ask making you give a wide smile.

"No, I'm all yours." He look back up to your face.

"Okay, we can talk tomorrow, but for now..." he took off his grey zip up sweater and put it around your shoulder before scooting close to you, "...let's just enjoy this." You smile moving your head to rest on his shoulder as his arm wasaround your own.

"Deal."

"Deal."
