Two Weeks of Whump Day 5: Broken Glass/ Building Collapse
Fandom: Across the Spider-verse
Warning: Character Death
Summary: what if Miles hadn't saved Inspector Singh? What if everything went according to the canon?
Pavitr watched the building as surrendered to gravity. He watched as the fragments of the building fell around Inspector Singh and a child. It rested on the ground.
From there everything seemed to move in slow motion. Pavitr couldn't think right. What Inspector Singh had died? What if the child has been killed? What would he tell Gayatri?
Gayatri. Looking down at the bus he continued pulling it up. Hobie came over to help. Miles and Gwen got down and Miles started to ask her why she wouldn't let him help.
After the bus was brought to stable ground, Pavitr ran over the remainder of the building. Hobie helped the civilians out of the bus.
Glass crunched beneath Pavitr's feet. The shards stabbed into them, leaving blood behind. He didn't even know. The pain didn't register. As he walked the pieces tore more and more of his skin and went further into his feet.
Pulling pieces of ruble from the pile, Spider-Man searches for the police chief and the child he had been trying to help. He could hear the child crying but other than that the sounds around him were like a faint ringing.
"Inspector Singh?" He whispered to himself. As Pavitr removed one of the pieces a pained scream came from under it. Finally the two were uncovered. Other than being terrified the kid was okay.
Inspector Singh not so much. His bloody body lay on the ground. One of his legs was crushed under a larger piece of debris and it appears a rode had impaled him. However the rode had been attached to the piece of rubel that had been part of the puzzle of the Alcomexe building.
Hobie came over and took the child to safety, understanding that Pavitr had to take care of his Captain Stacy. He would help him through it later.
Pavitr tried. He placed his hands on the wound and put pressure on it. Yelling for a doctor wouldn't save him now. The child" strained the Inspector, "is he okay?"
"Yes, he is." Pavitr's voice faltered. Tears formed in his eyes and fell, being hidden by the mask. "Hanging there sir, please."
"My daughter?" The question took Pavitr off guard.
"She's okay. I got her. Sir, you'll be okay. I promise." Before a doctor could arrive on scene Inspector Singh passed. Pavitr knew somewhere in his mind but didn't stop holding on to hope. After all he promised.
When Gayatri realized what had happened she ran towards her father. Hobie, who had given the child to his father and was trying to get Miles and Gwen to stop arguing about why Miles should have been there to help and why Gwen shouldn't have stopped him, ran towards her. He grabbed her from behind and she screamed. "Dad!"
Suddenly the agreement between Miles and Gwen didn't matter. Hobie tried to help Gayatri but she wouldn't stop fighting him. She kicked her feet as Hobie tried to move her farther from the unstable wreckage. "I'm so sorry."
"Let go of me! Dad!" Her voice broke the hearts of the people she was near. Hobie held her tighter. She sobbed and screamed, never letting up on Hobie. She hit strong, if this was a better time Hobie would compliment her on it.
Doctors finally arrived on screen. Pavitr took a step back. He walked back over the glass. Looking down he saw the blood and looked around to figure out who had been injured. It was then that he realized the pain in his feet.
Ignoring it he walked right up to Gayatri. Hobie was no longer restarting her but instead holding her as she cried. Pavitr tapped on her shoulder gently with the back of his hand as go not get any blood on her. "You're his daughter, right?" Of course Pavitr knew that she was.
Gayatri turned around quickly, accidentally sending Hobie back. "yes."
"I'm so sorry." He no longer could hide that he was crying. The sobs came through the mask that he desperately tried to keep on.
Unsure if what to say Gayatri nodded. Hobie came over and hugged Pavitr. "You did your best."
Pavitr broke the hug quickly and got on his tippy toes to whisper something to Hobie. "I'm going to go change, I need to be there for her." Hobie nodded and Pav turned to leave.
Gayatri stopped him, "thank you for trying."
"I just wish it had worked."
With that he swung away. It wasn't but a few minutes before he returned. He ran up to Gayatri. Hobie finally let her go, her sadly smiling at him as he did. Hobie joined Miles and Gwen in aiding where needed. "I got here as quickly as I could."
Gayatri could tell he had been crying. It looked like he was still trying not to. She grabbed him shaking and slowly the two sat down. As she sobbed into his chest Pavitr did what he could to comfort her.
Moving from her position, Gayatri looked him in the eyes. She didn't say anything. Pavitr pulled her back in, not being able to look her in her beautiful brown eyes, "I'm sorry."

Winter Whumperland Day 4: The Grinch (Sedative)
Fandom: Spider-verse
Warnings: Drugs and drug related jokes
Summary: Hobie is sitting in the clocktower, watching the city, when a young villain decides to ruin his fun.
Part two soon
Spider sense was helpful. Hobie sat at the top of the clock tower in his city just watching the people. Sure it wasn't peaceful but something about the way they crowded the street reassured him.
It had been a while since everything was so calm. Even if calm didn't mean the same thing in what seemed to be every other universe. Hobie looked at his watch for the time. Even though he was on the clock tower the face was well, under him.
Then it happened. As his spider sense went off, Hobie slipped on his mask before turning around to see the villain of the week. Before he could say anything, the villain had already started her attack.
The villain was around 5'6 with blonde hair that was in two messy buns. She had bright red eyes and an unnerving smile. Her clothes were mostly dark blue and blacks with her weapons in two thigh holsters and a knife in her long black shoes. She looked to be around his age.
Standing, Hobie made his way towards the girl. He wondered what made her this way for a moment before deciding to tire her up and ask. It wasn't worth it to turn her in if she could change. Not with his government and he'd hate to see someone so young die.
The villain grabbed her weapon to relieve a box. She grabbed a needle from the box and placed it in her palm.
Needles were never a good sign. Most of the time they were used as some scientific power up that was a real pain in the ass to deal with. But something seemed different this time.
After a moment, Hobie started to grow more anxious about the needle. He realized it couldn't have been for her or she would have used it already. That only left him.
As the girl grew closer Hobie tried to grab the needle from her hand. He missed her hand and she stabbed the needle into his skin. The clear liquid flowed into his body. Then she jumped back and threw the syringe.
"That's some dangerous litter now. Might wanna pick that up."
"You're funny."
"What? There's a lot of junkies around here! Plus littering is a crime." Hobie tried to laugh off the incident. He smiled a little under his mask and took another swing at the villain.
Then he started to feel the drug. He didn't feel bad, just tired. Very tired. The world was thrown off balance. Everything felt somewhat foggy, like he hadn't slept for days. He needed to wrap this up.
The girl smiled. "Feel'n funny?" She giggled.
"Wouldn't you like to know." Hobie started to stumble over his feet. He felt his body give as he fell to the ground. He watched the villain walk towards him.
"Nighty night."
Then the world went black.
Winter Whumperland Day 10: Tio de Nadal (Left to Die)
Fandom: Spider-verse
Waring: violence
Summary: Miguel finds Miles before the Miles rescue squad can.
Miguel had found him. Miles tried to get away. He fought him as hard as he could. Miguel was stronger than him.
Claws had dug into his back and had sliced his chest open. The boy had managed to shock him but it didn't seem to help. Miles had been thrown into multiple buildings and the concrete in the alley had cracks from the boy meeting the ground. One final throw had Miles unable to stand.
He cried as Miguel walked away. He left him there. Being taken somewhere instead of left for dead seemed better. He was going to bleed out. Miles had no way to contact anyone. He was alone.
The worst part was the fact that his mother might lose both her son and husband within a day of each other. Maybe not even a day. The Last time they had spoken hadn't been good. He needed to go home.
Miles needed to save his father. First he needed to get up. His blood spilled onto the concrete. He tried to stand but fell. The street was somehow silent. There was no one to help him.
The boy thought he was going to die. Had Miguel really done this for the multiverse? Couldn't he have just locked him up? No. This had been personal. If he was going to look at Miles like an anomaly, why would he treat him like one?
That's all he was after all, an anomaly. A stain on the universe, something that never should have existed. The man had treated him like he was nothing. Like he wasn't someone's son, someone's friend, and the hero for his city.
Now he was going to die alone. Miles felt like he couldn't breathe. He wishes to see the stars. If no one would come for him; if he had truly been left to die, then why not look for something pretty?
There were no stars to be seen. Maybe if he died there would be no need for his father to. There would be no building collapse and there would be no child in a red shirt that was in the way. Maybe it was almost better that way.
Miles tried to shake those thoughts away. He put a bloody hand on the brick wall behind him as he tried to get up. The words Peter had said lingered in his mind. "Spider-Man always gets back up." The words felt like a broken record. Every time something happened those words had gone through his mind.
His other hand met the wall. Miles tried to pull himself up. He ended up with his hands being stuck to the brick instead. The world started to get blurry. He didn't want to be alone when he died.
It was actually one of his biggest fears. If he died alone, there.was always the possibility that no one would ever find him. His parents would be we know what happened to him. Miles could do that to them.
Being alone seemed cruel. The boy was fifteenth. He didn't deserve to die alone. Maybe he wasn't perfect, but he didn't deserve to be this scared.
As the world started to go black, Miles had some comfort in the thought that if he was gone, his father wouldn't die. He knew his parents would tear the world apart to find him and it broke his heart.
The boy wanted to go home. But as he fell unconscious, he grew to accept the thought he never would. His hands unstuck from the wall and his body hit the ground.
Forgot to post this. Hopefully I'll finish it next year!!
