Me after the Tender Treats premiere: Man, Carmen and Richard really suck, Roy deserves better.

Me now: I love Carmen and Richard, they're strict but they really love their son and try their best to be there for him and would definitely hear him out if he needed to talk about something. Absolutely boggling to me that the Thieves were originally connected to Roy's uncle... I am so glad Pelo decided not to go for that, it would have made them WAY worse by association

In my eyes (pardon the pun) the cult always saw them as, for lack of a better term, useful idiots.

They were sent to Lila's house (originally by the uncle), probably to steal cult shit from the attic. They escaped at the same time as Bob to act as distractions. It's irrelevant as to if they actually know this or not, because that's how the cult is using them.
