The 'Bribe'

Prompt- "You want me to stay quiet about all this? Then bribe me."

Structure- Stage Directions and Lines

[Ashlynn, the unnamed hero's assistant, is hurrying down the hallway when she notices the hero full on choking a vigilante. The vigilante passes out due to a lack of oxygen, almost dying. They are thrown into an inhumane cage that looks like it's designed for torture. The hero notices Ashlynn. They put their index finger to their lips and shush her.]

Ashlynn: "You want me to stay quiet about all this? Then bribe me."

Hero: "Bribe you? I'd rather kill you but I'd get a bad social reputation so I've decided against it."

[Ashlynn approaches the hero. Her arm is grabbed tightly, making her wince.]

Ashlynn: "Aren't you a hero? Heroes don't kill. Some hero you are."

Hero: "Oh darling, wouldn't you like to know. All you need to know is that I've had to... deal with villains by... oh I give up. Darling, I've killed villains before. I used to be a vigilante after all. I presume you have heard of Black Crystal? That was me. I'd still call myself a vigilante if my sister hadn't dragged me into the headquarters of some big hero and get me a job. Killing was quite fun if I do say so myself."

Ashlynn: "You monster! You killed people! That's-"

Hero: "Hush darling, we don't want anyone hearing you. Besides, how would you prove anything? You know what? How about I kill YOU?"

[Ashlynn is stabbed in the stomach. She idiotically rips it out, immediately regretting it.]

Ashlynn: "You- *cough* you won't get away with this!"

Hero: "Oh yes I will, darling."

[The hero cackles like an insane witch. She immediately stops cackling once she realises the hard work she'll have to do.]

Hero: "Oh great, I need to clean up the evidence..."

[The hero goes offstage.]
