Guys! Ds9 season 2 episode 5: "Cardassians" is sooooo interesting! I dont even care that much about law episodes but this one is cool
You have this cardassian war orphan who was adopted by bajorans and it's very clear that they love each very much! But without even meaning to be, it's also a very toxic relationship. The bajorans hatred for cardassians is causing identity trauma in this kid like theres no tomorrow
It's just so hard because its sooo reasonable to hate the cardassians. They did horrible things so even the ds9 crew dont like them! But they've got to get over that and realize that the cardassians are people too, even if many of them ARE bad people, but it's not fair to this kid to be surrounded by hatred for his own kind. I loveeeeee when obrien talks to the kid because he realizes that his empathy for a hurt child overcomes his hatred for the cardassians.
The episode deals with very complicated, very REAL matters. Toxic but loving families, adoption, war orphans, cultural isolation and racism. And i think the characters handle the dilemma reallyyy well (especially sisko and keiko)
Plus i love seeing just how horrible clever gul dulat is and I love seeing bashir and Barak starting to develop this really interesting relationship
Anyway, yeah that's my silly little review, I love this episode and I love the way the characters were written in it

Dreamt last night i went on a date with odo. I was like "i wanna have sex with you hahahah"as a joke and he was like "Id like that too, but first I will take you on a date" and then he was SUCH a gentleman and sort lovesick and sweet and I realized I was in love too. no joke on our first date, my partner and i went back to his place to watch star trek lower decks. we binged all of season 1 in one evening and the only reason we didn’t start season 2 is i had to work an opening shift the next day.
