Against all odds, Missy regenerates on the Mondasian colony ship. Unable to locate the Doctor and finding it difficult to stay on the right path without his friend’s guidance, the Master returns to Gallifrey to track her down. In the process, he accidentally uncovers the truth about the Timeless Child and the origins of the Time Lords. Hurt and enraged, he returns to the safety of his darker ways, destroying Gallifrey and his people. Knowing the Doctor will never forgive him, the Master continues to embrace the darkness. There is an alternative, he knows this, but facing his guilt and pain is somehow more terrifying than the monster he’s reawaken.
