Very similar ones, to say the least *_* Gotta love 'em, and I do.

Ok guys, one more round of...

The Ring(s)!

So, we're all familiar with Paul's ring he wore through the 60s and mysteriously disappeared by the end of '69/beginning of '70, right?

And most of us must be familiar with Artie's ring he apparently wore one time (at least on his finger) in '68.

Here are some nice pics where you can see both anyway.

So, let's speculate.

Ok Guys, One More Round Of...
Ok Guys, One More Round Of...
Ok Guys, One More Round Of...
Ok Guys, One More Round Of...
Ok Guys, One More Round Of...

Shall I start?

I do believe Paul's ring was very important to him. He always seemed to show it, too (poses and such). I don't think it's a coincidence that he stopped wearing it around the time things went bad with Artie. Might be a coincidence as well, but I don't believe in such things.

Artie's ring appeared only once thus far worn on the same finger of the same hand as Paul's (and we all know what that finger and hand mean, yeah? At least, where I'm from). To me it looks different but also somehow similar - it's kinda big, not the ring that goes unnoticed. Maybe it was a fashionable type of back then? These two don't really seem like they care about fashion items though, so I'd dare to say that Artie's ring probably meant something too. Fascinating how it only appeared once. Maybe he wore it as a pendant? Or kept it in his pocket?

Anyway, please let's talk about it once more!

Pics of the concerts can be found here - worth reading, too!

A pair of expatriate artists, I guess it could be anyone - but of course we're all thinking he was with that person, right? That special friend, whose name is very well known.

What did we know of the proper forms of love? Well, this of course could mean a lot of things, but it's always made me think about a love that many would find inappropriate, even offensive - like love between two men back when they were young. Just saying.

You could pretend a friend was a lover - yes, let us be lovers.

I don't know, of course.

What I know is, I do believe Artie loved Paul very much, and Paul did love him back, even if just for a moment. Whatever form that love took, it was there. And if you ask me, I think this kind of verses by Artie speak exactly of that love. That special kind of love they shared, that love no one but them seemed to really grasp, and most still don't grasp today.

What Is This Art Garfunkel? Who Is This About? Explain Yourself.

Welp.

Did John really say to Paul "I like it when you're brutal"? Where did that come from?

Yes he did! You can hear it here:

It's a segment of studio chatter used in Eight Days A Week: The Touring Years (2016). The conversation is even included in the transcripts of the film:

Go vote! I know it's a very tough choice, but go.

Tbh I have two favorites, Bridge and Only Living Boy, but since my favorite version of Bridge is a demo one for this poll I chose Only Living Boy. And also because of... well, reasons.

BOTW won the poll results for favorite S&G album…. Now:

Baron Samedi(English:Baron Saturday), Also WrittenBaron Samdi,Bawon SamediorBawon Sanmdi, Is One Of ThelwaofHaitian

Baron Samedi (English: Baron Saturday), also written Baron Samdi, Bawon Samedi or Bawon Sanmdi, is one of the lwa of Haitian Vodou. He is a lwa of the dead, along with Baron's numerous other incarnations Baron Cimetière, Baron La Croix and Baron Criminel.

He is the head of the Gede family of lwa; his brothers are Azagon Lacroix and Baron Piquant and he is the husband of Maman Brigitte. Together, they are the guardians of the past, of history, and of heritage

Baron Samedi(English:Baron Saturday), Also WrittenBaron Samdi,Bawon SamediorBawon Sanmdi, Is One Of ThelwaofHaitian

Baron Samedi is usually depicted with a top hat, black tail coat, dark glasses, and cotton plugs in the nostrils, as if to resemble a corpse dressed and prepared for burial in the Haitian style. He is frequently depicted as a skeleton (but sometimes as a black man that merely has his face painted as a skull), and speaks in a nasal voice. The former President-for-Life of Haiti, François Duvalier, known as Papa Doc, modeled his cult of personality on Baron Samedi; he was often seen speaking in a deep nasal tone and wearing dark glasses.

He is noted for disruption, obscenity, debauchery, and having a particular fondness for tobacco and rum. Additionally, he is the lwa of resurrection, and in the latter capacity he is often called upon for healing by those near or approaching death, as it is only the Baron that can accept an individual into the realm of the dead.

Due to affiliation with François Duvalier, Baron Samedi is linked to secret societies in the Haitian government and includes them in his domain.

Baron Samedi spends most of his time in the invisible realm of vodou spirits. He is notorious for his outrageous behavior, swearing continuously and making filthy jokes to the other spirits. He is married to another powerful spirit known as Maman Brigitte, but often chases after mortal women. He loves smoking and drinking and is rarely seen without a cigar in his mouth or a glass of rum in his bony fingers. Baron Samedi can usually be found at the crossroads between the worlds of death and the living. When someone dies, he digs their grave and greets their soul after they have been buried, leading them to the underworld.

Baron Samedi(English:Baron Saturday), Also WrittenBaron Samdi,Bawon SamediorBawon Sanmdi, Is One Of ThelwaofHaitian

Baron Samedi is the leader of the Gede, lwa with particular links to magic, ancestor worship and death. These lesser spirits are dressed like The Baron and are as rude and crude but not nearly as charming as their master. They help carry the dead to the underworld

Baron Samedi(English:Baron Saturday), Also WrittenBaron Samdi,Bawon SamediorBawon Sanmdi, Is One Of ThelwaofHaitian

As well as being the master of the dead, Baron Samedi is also a giver of life. He can cure mortals of any disease or wound, so long as he thinks it is worthwhile. His powers are especially great when it comes to Vodou curses and black magic. Even if somebody has been afflicted by a hex that brings them to the verge of death, they will not die if The Baron refuses to dig their grave. So long as The Baron keeps them out of the ground, they are safe.

In many Haitian cemeteries, the longest standing grave of male is designated as the grave of Baron Samedi. A cross (the kwa Bawon, meaning "Baron's cross") is placed at a crossroads in the cemetery to represent the point where the mortal and spiritual world cross. Often, a black top hat is placed on top of this cross.

He also ensures that all corpses rot in the ground to stop any soul from being brought back as a zombie. What he demands in return depends on his mood. Sometimes he is content with his followers wearing black, white or purple clothes or using sacred objects; he may simply ask for a small gift of cigars, rum, black coffee, grilled peanuts, or bread. But sometimes The Baron requires a Vodou ceremony to help him cross over into this world

Does anyone have the slightest idea about what the hell Paul was trying to do with that hand/mouth gesture?

I mean... apart from the most obvious hint. Or am I the only one seeing it?

Welp.

Anyway, I've always loved this pic.

I think you're looking for this:

"We were around age 13 and 14. We started rehearsing in an amazingly professional way at a very early age. We had this tape recorder and this thing of trying to sound like the real people… The next thing to do was to get real good in singing so we’d sing and harmonize and hold very serious long rehearsals in his basement and he’d strum and we’d work on a song. We’d be sitting nose-to-nose looking right at each other’s mouths to copy diction. I’d want to know exactly where his tongue would hit the top of his palate when he’d say a “T,” to know exactly how to get that “T” right. And I could see that you could be almost right or even better than almost right and that all of that really was the difference between whether or not it sounded professional. Then once you had it very precise you cooled it out and made it seem effortless."

From a 1973 Rolling Stone interview to our favorite bi uncle

Glad to provide a lovely pic I personally hadn't seen before. Aren't they cute?? Yes, yes they are.

Don't know where and when it was taken, but from Paul's beard and Artie's overall stunningness I reckon it's around fall 1968.

were you perpetually and exclusively praised for what you could one day become, instead of what you were, leading you to a lifetime of feeling like you were not only never good enough, but that the best thing about you was a future that would never come, that constantly felt like it was slipping away? Did you become so afraid of closing doors, of losing that one good thing, that potential, that you stagnated at the crossroads until your life began to rot around you and the asphalt ground to gravel and the roads grew ever rougher, the doors closing one by one even as you tried in vain to keep them open, instead of choosing a path and committing to a direction for your own progress? Did you watch the best thing about you, the one thing you were praised for, slowly collapse in your arms as you tried desperately and hopelessly to save it, finding yourself kneeling in the ruins of your unexplored promise, looking for a way out, and wondering if there was no where else to go? no way forward? When someone tells you they're proud of you, that they love you for who you are, that what you are is good enough, do you cry? do you struggle to believe them? do you have to try your damnedest just to make yourself hear the words? Do you wonder if, one day, you'll learn to be happy with who you are?

Well, of course my favorite is PSRT - obvious, much? 😜

Anyway, why?

Well, I love them all equally tbh, but PSRT holds a special place in my heart. It feels like early Autumn days, a soft breeze that's not too cold, cozy moments in at night but still bright days to spend outside... it's a feeling, you know? It's a liminal album. And I'm a liminal being. So I love it.

Studio album only. Not including The Graduate soundtrack, compilation albums, live albums, or watching The Concert In Central Park which is just the best thing ever...

Dua Sutekh 🌩️

Poem to Sutekh

As the storm rages loudly

And the sky trembles above

The darkness envelops the land

The wind howls past my window

I know you are here, beloved

You who are great of strength

You whisper softly in my ear

“Let it go and feel the storm”

I let the past go and embrace my freedom

Riding the wave of change in my life

Slowly I notice that the storm has settled

And my heart feels great sadness

Out of the corner of my eye a flash of red

And I smile as I know you are with me still.

Poem To Sutekh
