the last cardboard box was finally emptied, only setting aside the contents of it to organise later on, before flattening out the box and shoving it on the pile by the front door. you managed to wake up incredibly early to unpack everything, so all you had left to do was organise things in the next few days before being able to settle in fully.

moving out was hard. but you finally moved out and it was something you had been wanting to do for the longest time now. you had your new job to thank as well as your friends who suggested you take this new chapter in life, hoping to start afresh.

you let out a tired sigh looking at all the flattened boxes you're still yet to dispose of, but just thinking about the trips you'll have to make coming up and down the apartment complex seemed to burden you already. but you're gonna have to get moving since it's already late in the night.

the lights were bright as ever, thinking that it'd be busy at this time of night until yeonjun told you about which days are usually roaring at night and which ones are a little quieter.

surprisingly, your new neighbour took you to one of the 24/7 convenient stores nearby for some ice-cream. the nights were getting warmer and the jacket was just a precaution. it was becoming hoodie season and it had you observing yeonjun's outfit; an oversized graphic hoodie with wide leg denim shorts that looked like a long skirt. his style was appealing for what counts as 'casual' clothing. you even took a candid picture of him while he was looking up where else he should take you at this time of night.

"I could get used to this." you lean your elbows on the ledge, smiling to yourself.

you were proud of yourself for finally doing what you've been longing to do, even after some people doubted you before. it didn't stop you when you had the right support system to encourage you every step of the way. and now you have yeonjun too.

said male turns his head towards you, a gentle smile crawling on his lips while he scans the relief beaming on your face.

"I can always show you around again." he suggests, "like we can explore during the day. but I don't mind wandering around at night again."

you hum in agreement. there was something so soothing about being in his presence, but also comforting knowing that he was already so open to helping you settle into this new part of your life.

"thank you, yeonjun. I really appreciate this." you turn to look at him too, eyes locking a little longer than you have the past hour. you have a good feeling that this friendship will be a good one.

You and Maki decided to go on a walk. The sun was setting, so you had both decided to go to the park, wanting a better view of the sunset. The weather was beginning to cool as you reached the end of summer. You and Maki reached the park before trying to find a spot to sit with fewer trees. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw a little yellow flash. You didn't think much of it until you saw another small dot of light appear just above the grass in front of you.

"Maki, did you see that?" You asked him while pointing at the spot in front of you. He turned away from the gold and pink sky in front of him to look at you. He noticed you pointing and looked over to the area you were pointing towards. He nearly turned back towards you, confused by what you meant when the firefly from before lit up once more. He smiled and looked at you, and you saw the reflection of another small speck of light in his eyes.

"There's still some fireflies left." He said before looking around to try and spot some more. You watched the grass next to the sidewalk carefully to find more of them. You watched until another firefly started glowing before stepping off of the sidewalk and reaching toward it. You gently reached out, cupping your hand before enclosing the slow-moving little insect in the palm of your hand. When you turned around, you noticed that Maki was several feet away, chasing a few fireflies excitedly. When he saw one light up, he ran towards it before losing it once it stopped glowing. You quietly giggled at his antics, finding it cute when he had a little pout after he lost sight of the bugs.

"Hey love, come look." You call over to him. He looked over at you before running over to your side. You opened your hand to show him the bug before looking at your hand, confused. When you opened your hand, you noticed that the firefly wasn't there anymore. It was your turn to pout while Maki laughed.

"You just wanted to show me your empty hand?" He teased just as one of the little bugs flashed between your faces. He quickly grabbed it out of the air. "Is this what you wanted to show me?" He had a small smirk on his face when he opened his hands, revealing the firefly sitting in his palm.

"No fair! That's probably the one I caught before!" He laughed at the almost offended look on your face. The firefly in his hand flew away.

"Not my fault you couldn't keep track of him." You scoffed at his statement while he smirked before running off to try and catch some more. The two of you continued catching fireflies while the sun's rays kept getting dimmer. After a few more minutes he looked over at you, who was slowly moving your cupped hand in the direction of the dots of light that appeared in the air around you. "What are you moving so slowly for y/n? You don't exactly have the element of surprise." You heard his teasing coming from behind you.

You turned and glared in his direction while he jokingly put his hands up in fake surrender. "That's how my mom taught me to do it" You retorted. His mouth formed an 'o' shape. "At least I've been catching more than you." This was true, as you had a few fireflies trapped in your non dominant hand, while Maki hadn't caught any since the one that you were still convinced was yours. He narrowed his eyes at your statement before trying your tactic. To his surprise, he caught one quickly. You saw the happiness in his eyes when he jogged over to show you.

"I can catch fireflies too." He said before crossing his arms when the firefly in his hand flew away.

You kept watching the bug as it flew away in the dark. "Did you know that the males are the ones that fly around? They fly around and light up to find the females." You said as you smiled at all the fireflies in the space in front of you.

"Is that so?" Maki said as he looked down at you from where he was standing. You nodded before looking up at him and grinning. "In that case, if I were one, I'd light up all the time just to find you." He smiled at you, who was shaking your head at his cheesiness.

"Oh brother." You muttered under your breath. He leaned down to place a gentle kiss on your forehead.

"You know you love me y/n."

“it’s beautiful, isn’t it?” you murmured, gazing into the far horizon where the golden glow of the setting sun began to fuse with the dark, calm waves of the ocean.

“yeah.” jungwon hummed in agreement, though you could feel his gaze trained to the side of your face instead.

you tilted your head towards him curiously, watching his faint smile spread into a wide grin when your eyes met his.

a gentle ocean breeze ruffled through his hair, and you thought that he looked more endearing with his hair slightly tousled. the warm sunlight landed perfectly on his features, and it was almost unfair how pretty he looked: eyes reflecting the hues of the sunset, cheeks flushed a light shade of red. you wondered if it was simply an aftermath of spending a day under the scorching sun, or if it was from the same butterflies swirling in your stomach.     

it took you a few moments to realise that you’ve been staring openly at him, and you quickly turned away at the realisation.   

jungwon, however, had no plans to look away.

you spent the next few minutes trying your best to ignore the fact that he was now staring brazenly at you. the sound of the waves crashing against the shoreline became muffled in the back of your mind, and you soon came to realise that you weren't the strongest soldier when it came to matters involving him.

“what’s wrong?” you broke through the silence, hoping the red hue of the sun would mask the blush creeping up your face. 

jungwon's dimples deepened as he smiled at you, seemingly happy to have gotten your attention.

“nothing,” he said innocently, though you didn't miss the cheeky glint in his eyes. “just admiring the most beautiful view here.”

your eyes widened, and you had to bite the inside of your cheek to stop yourself from breaking into a giddy smile. 

“what?” jungwon leaned closer with a low chuckle. 

“you say these things so easily.” you mumbled.

his tone were unwavering, yet there was a certain softness and earnesty in his voice that seemed to come straight from his heart. 

you swallowed nervously, letting out a weak laugh in an attempt to ignore the away your heart skipped a beat at his words.

“i bet you say that to other girls too.” you said, trying to ease the tension in the air.

“you’re right, i do.”

even though a part of you knew he was just messing with you, you couldn’t stop the sinking feeling in your chest.

you frowned a little, “what?”

a light breeze blew past, blowing a strand of hair in front of your face, which jungwon quickly reached forward to tuck it behind your ear.

A/N - Yes this is based on Chan's insta posts because man is LITERALLY making me more delusional day by day. So I'm sharing my pain with you though this very short drabble.

2am in the morning. That's the exact time when you're boyfriend called you and said in a very awake voice "Hey wanna go for ice cream?" You, being the very sweet person you are, begrudgingly said yes because you didn't wanna upset your puppy faced boyfriend. Getting up from your bed, you went to your closet and out on the maroon jacket, which Chan had gotten for you from France. It was a special jacket, beset with fake jewels in your favourite colour and it had a tiny embroidering of your name. It kept you warm on the days that Chan wasn't there to keep the cold from entering your front door.

Putting on your purple scarf and shooing away your cat from your shoes, you stepped outside into your lawn to find Chan, wrapped in all black as usual, waiting for you with his car. He did his little run towards and squeezed you, his warm body touching yours. The night was cold, with all the four winds of Zephyrus, Notus, Eurus and Boreas, running through time like an expatriate. But all it took was one hug from Chan to warm your body and your soul up. Chan pulled away from the hug and gave you a bouquet of hyacinths that he said reminded him of your personality.

Getting into the car and putting on your special shared playlist, you drove towards your favourite ice cream place, while Chan entertained you by doing impressions of his friends Minho and Jisung. It took two months and one presentation (supported by Minho) to convince Chan to even try the combination. And in the end it was a grand success! Sitting at the small wooden table outside, you and Chan slowly ate your ice cream while talking about both of your days. Finishing your ice cream, both you went for walk to your favourite pond. You took some pictures of Chan on the way because you said and I quote 'Your back looks good in that white tanktop. Take the jacket off once'.

Laying beneath a tree near the pond Chan ran his hands through you hair as he kissed the top of your nose. You lay on his chest, trying not to fall asleep from the slow beat of his heart and the comforting warmth of his body. Bathing is the moonlight, both of you pointed out stars, while trying to find Jupiter, because according to Chan, Felix told him that Jupiter would be visible to Earth today. You laughed and told him that it was Mercury, while he layed there, trying to find out whether Felix or him got it wrong. You just sat there, silently admiring him, and thinking about how he was the perfect chocolate chips to your coffee ice cream.
