Misunderstanding | Kim Taehyung

a/n: I'm so bad with titles lol. At least you get the idea a bit :). In one part it is mentioned that Y/N is not a public figure like Taehyung, even though she is a chaebol. This is because her family is somewhat like that of Samsung's owners, they keep their children's identities secret until they make their own place in the company.
Summary: It's basically your reaction to hearing about the dating rumours between Taehyung and Jennie while the two of you are still in a relationship. And obviously, he is trying to fix things as quickly as possible.
wc: 2.9k (I didn't think it would be so long honestly).

When you started dating Taehyung, you never thought it would be a big problem. You knew that his schedule was complicated, but you didn't have any drama with that because yours was pretty much the same. You also knew that you wouldn't be a public couple because of the criticism you might get, but that was even better for you because you didn't like being in the public eye either. Problems on tour? Phones were there for a reason, not being able to have children? You were too young, can’t go out in public? Loved the cozy, private dates, little quality time together? Even better! Every moment with him would feel even more special because of how exclusive it was. Yes, you were willing to accept all these disadvantages because you never saw them as an insurmountable problem. At least until now.
You and Taehyung started dating in 2020, during the pandemic. You met him at the concert in cooperation with Lotte Duty Free, one of the companies your father founded, because yes, you were the youngest daughter of the Shin, the family in charge of the Lotte company and all its subsidiaries.
The two of you got along very well while preparing for the concert, so you decided to exchange numbers to keep in touch. It only took a few months before you started dating him officially, and you were very happy at first.
His schedule was busy, of course, but he had time for you. He would greet you with a big smile, hug you from behind, and take you to the dining room where he had a whole show set up for you. Jazz in the background, scented candles, rose petals everywhere, and two plates of food of dubious origin that you would enjoy anyway because your boyfriend made it.
You were willing to put up with all those cons if he gave you moments like this every chance he got, moments where it was just you and him.
Once the pandemic was over and your schedule returned to normal, things got complicated.
And no, time, work, dating, none of that was the problem, because it didn't even have anything to do with you two as a couple. The problems were caused by a third person. Kim Jennie, one of the members of Blackpink and one of the most beautiful women you will ever meet.
You never had any problems with her. You had bumped into her once or twice in the hallway on your way backstage, but obviously she wouldn't recognize you, you were always covered from head to toe.You thought that your friend had the same relationship with her, something casual that couldn't even be called a friendship because you barely said hello to each other when you were together, in fact Taehyung never looked at anyone when he was with you.So why did this happen now?
Your boyfriend was on tour and it was the time of his concert, so you couldn't just call him and ask him about it. You looked at the screen of your cell phone for the sixth time, the headline in big, dark letters seemed to mock your feelings.
"Dispatch confirms, V of BTS and Jennie of Blackpink are in a relationship," you muttered to yourself, trying to get your brain to catch the words, to process them, to react. It didn't.
You scrolled down the page until you stopped at the myriad of photos they had as proof. None of them looked doctored.
You saw the blue short-sleeved shirt with flowers that Taehyung was wearing in the photo and put your phone down to go to the closet you shared. You pulled out all of his clothes until you found it. You grabbed it and crumpled it in your hands.
Only then did you burst into tears. You covered your eyes with your shirt and screamed until you felt your throat couldn't take it anymore. Your heart hurt so much that you even had trouble breathing.
You looked around the room you both shared, trying to understand why he would do this to you. You thought you were fine, everything seemed fine, so why were there hundreds of videos and pictures of your boyfriend with another girl? You felt like all these people were making fun of you by being happy for them. What about you, why don't they think about his real girlfriend who had to put up with years of being locked away in secret while these two were fearlessly dating?
The sadness soon turned to anger, and it wasn't long before you got up and grabbed the biggest suitcase you could find, whether it was his or yours.
You stuffed it with as many clothes as you could, taking your time because you knew he wasn't coming. You lifted the suitcase as high as you could and carried it into the living room. You looked at every single picture of the two of you as a couple. Another few tears fell from your eyes and you let them out as you took the frames and threw them away.
You threw out everything you could. Mugs, matching pajamas, pictures, rings, absolutely everything. When you were done, your eyes were dry and your head hurt too much, but you didn't care. You grabbed your suitcase and headed for the door.
The only thing that stopped you from leaving was Yeontan, who stood in the doorway, staring at you while wagging his tail from side to side.
"Tannie, mommy has to go do something, okay?" you nuzzled behind his ear and sobbed softly. You knew he wouldn't understand. "Don't worry, I'll visit you every day until your owner comes."
You stood up, took a breath, and walked away. You didn't know where you were going, but that apartment was no longer an option.
You stood in front of the buildings where you lived and watched for taxis to pass by. Just then you received a phone call. For a moment you thought it would be Taehyung, but no, it was just Jimin's girlfriend, Soyeon, to whom you had become very close over the past years.
"Yes?" you mumbled hoarsely.
"Honey, it's me, Soyeonie," she said in a much calmer voice than usual. She was probably aware of your situation. "I read the news, are you okay?" You opened your mouth to reply, but she interrupted you so quickly that you didn't have time to say anything, "Of course you're not," she sighed, remaining silent for a few seconds, "Look, I know maybe I shouldn't pry, but I understand that you're hurting and the last thing you want is to be in a place full of... him."
You sob softly, wiping your cheeks as quickly as the first tears came.
"I haven't sold my old apartment yet, it has some furniture, enough to live decently, why don't you stay there for a few weeks?"
"Soyeon-ah," you cried, wanting to hug her until you fell asleep. That's what you needed, a long nap.
"Relax, everything’s gonna be okay, Unnie will come and see you there, I'll send you the address, just wait."
"Okay," you nodded, even though you knew she couldn't see you, "thanks."
"It's nothing."
And she hung up.
You looked around. It was full of cars and buildings that looked too big.
You felt so stupid as you mentally wished that Taehyung was here to comfort you.
You saw a taxi coming your way and you made it stop. You weren't sure if this would be the end of your relationship, you were willing to hear his side, but you weren't willing to have to live with him or a place filled with his presence.
This was best for you.

Taehyung called you the next day, about twenty times, not counting messages. You didn't answer any of them, mostly because you were asleep until 4 pm. You had a hard time falling asleep. Every time you closed your eyes, you could see the two of them holding hands, together in the car, on a date to some kind of zoo. You cried every time your brain projected those images.
Your phone rang for the 21st time. You were still a little groggy from sleep, but you answered it anyway.
"Y/N!" You turned the phone away from your ear. It was too painful to hear his voice so loud with the headache you were feeling, "Oh God, I was so afraid something bad had happened to you. I called the girls, but none of them knew anything about you, so I got worried and..."
"Why did you call me?" you asked curtly. You thought maybe you were being a little cruel, but you didn't care. Answering him like that wouldn't make him feel a thousandth of the pain you felt and still feel since last night.
He was silent for a few seconds. You'd never answered him like that before, you guessed that's why he was so quiet.
"I..." he cleared his throat, sounding a little more tense than when you answered him, "I was a little worried, my manager told me about the news and I thought maybe you were feeling a little depressed-".
You interrupted him again, but this time with a mocking laugh, "A little depressed? Is that how you think I felt? A little depressed?" you laughed again. You had completely woken up this time, "Tell me, Kim, how would you feel if overnight it was all over the news that I was dating an idol? Huh? What would you do if this news came to you on the fucking Dispatch, while I was on the other fucking side of the world enjoying a concert? Would you be a little depressed? A little hurt? Would you even have taken the fucking trouble to answer my calls?" you began to raise your voice with every word you said. You didn't even notice at what point your voice broke. "You have no idea what I'm going through, and you never will, because unlike you I'm not a public figure! I could be fucking any man in Korea and you're never going to see an internet media outlet post it and 'celebrate' my relationship, you're never going to see any fan of mine go on social media and celebrate my relationship with someone else while you're behind the curtains" You sobbed, wiping your cheeks awkwardly.
"Honey, I know it's-"
"Don't you dare call me like that" you growled, clenching your jaw, "I don't even want to hear you say my name, do you understand?"
"Y/N" he muttered, his voice trembling. You assumed that at some point in your verbal vomit he had started to cry, "Just give me 1 minute, I'll explain everything, I promise."
You tried to control your anger by taking a big breath of air, it worked enough to stop you from sending him to fuck off... for the second time.
"Do you want me to listen to you?" you mumble, looking down at your hands, remembering all the times he came home late, wondering if all those times he was at her house, doing god knows what while you tried to stay awake just to see him before bed.
"Y-yes, please, I just need a minute".
"Fine," you smiled half-heartedly, "then come and explain it to me in person. If you're really sorry and say it's a misunderstanding, come here and tell me."
Your more conscientious side chided you for your request. It was his job, you couldn't just order him to make a trip from the United States to Korea just for you. Maybe that's why you gave him that condition. You knew he wouldn't come all this way just for you.
The line went silent, you could barely hear his breathing. You ended your conversation.
"I thought so," muttering much calmer than at the beginning, "I guess Soyeon was right in saying that the only one who would have to make sacrifices for our relationship would be me."
And you cut the call short.
You put your phone on airplane mode and plopped down on your bed, ready to go back to sleep for the rest of the weekend.

It had been a day since you heard the news, barely 17 hours since you last spoke to Taehyung, because yes, you counted the hours. You hadn't eaten anything, you'd barely had a glass of water, and the only thing you felt like doing right now was taking a very long shower and then crying yourself to sleep. Yes, it sounded like the perfect plan to try to get over your ex, if that's what you could call it.
You got in the tub at 10am, didn't get out until 12:30, and when you did you could barely feel your fingers and toes. At least your muscles had finally relaxed.
You dressed more slowly than usual, in just your pajamas, the only ones that weren't your partner's, and went to bed.
Until the doorbell rang.
You changed direction, confused. You were sure that no one besides Soyeon knew you were here. It crossed your mind that maybe she was worried about you and that's why you'd decided to open up and politely turn her away.
Except she wasn't the one waiting for you on the other side.
"Y/N," Taehyung said, trying to regulate his breathing. "You really were here," he whispered, entering the flat and closing behind him. It wasn't until the door rattled that his arms wrapped around you so tightly that you almost stopped breathing. "Why did you leave home? I got so worried when I saw our stuff in the trash and the wardrobe almost empty" he cupped your cheeks, inspecting your face.
You didn't understand what exactly was going on.
"What are you doing here?" you mumbled, letting him search your face.
"You told me to come" he looked into your eyes and, almost instantly, his eyes began to fill with tears. "I couldn't let you because a misunderstanding made you hate me to the point of breaking up with me, I... I don't want to be without you, at this point I don't think I can be," he bent down until he could place his forehead against yours, his thumbs caressing the skin of your cheeks, "You're the best thing that ever happened to me, I don't plan on losing you over something stupid like this."
You looked at Taehyung, still not understanding what he was trying to say.
"The pictures are real" he exhaled deeply, "but it's not like you think" he pulled his phone out of his trousers pocket. His hands were shaking slightly. You wanted to hold them, but you completely erased the thought, "We dated for a few months, it was a very short thing, about two or three months before we met".
He showed you some conversations from a few years ago. He was asking her to bring him the shoes he had left at her house last time, and that he would appreciate it if she would bring the leash they had bought Yeontan. You also saw the last messages they sent to each other, it was only a few days ago.
Jennie told him that someone had hacked into her phone and most likely found the pictures they took the time they went to the zoo. She apologized and sent him stickers of crying puppies, saying that the lawsuit against the hacker had already started and that she would try to speed up the process so that he wouldn't be affected.
"I totally understand how angry you were, and obviously I also understand that you want to talk about this face-to-face, so I took the first flight I could find so I could come talk to you and-".
You didn't let him finish. You couldn't do that, not after everything you've been feeling the last few days. So you did the only thing you could think of since he came into the flat. You kissed him.
It was much more awkward than your kisses usually are, but you didn't care. You were so relieved that it was all a misunderstanding that no matter what kind of kiss it was, it would still be amazing to you.
He followed your kiss as soon as he came out of his surprise. He clung to you as if his life depended on it. He was the one who deepened the kiss and lifted you off the floor so he could kiss you better.
"I'm so sorry" you whispered in the middle of the messy kisses he was giving you, "sorry for doubting you" you sobbed softly, hugging his neck with all your strength.
He shook his head, holding your cheeks, "Don't apologise, it was a normal reaction, you said it yourself, I wouldn't have even answered your calls if I had been in your place" he kissed your shoulder softly, letting out a soft sigh. It felt so good to have you with him after all the tension he experienced during the flight.
"You were right about everything you said" he murmured, pulling away enough to look you in the eye, "so please don't apologize to me".
You nodded a little calmer, closing your eyes as you felt Taehyung's nose on yours.
"Now let's go get your things, I don't want to go back inside the house and not see your things in it."

Just another bad day

a/n: Hi! Thanks for making this request and for having loved "Misunderstanding", I really love this kind of situations, I was so excited to do this ^^. I hope it's what you expected, and sorry for the delay, I'm doing the requests in order and it's really hard to do more than one in one day. wc: 1.9k

You had had bad days in your life, like that time when you erased your thesis and had to do it from scratch, or that other time when your puppy disappeared for hours because the girl who was supposed to take care of it had left the door open. You could go on listing all the bad days you've had in your life, but this one? This one topped them all.
It all started when you woke up and realized that your alarm had decided not to go off this morning. To get to work on time, you were supposed to get up at six-thirty at the latest. It was eight o'clock. You decided that taking a bath wasn't important enough, you could do it at night without any problem. You got dressed as fast as you could and ran to the bus stop.
You were only a few feet away when it pulled away, leaving you at the stop, praying that the next bus would arrive as soon as possible. You gave up after ten minutes. You approached the edge of the sidewalk, trying to see if there were any cabs coming that you could hop into.
For a second, you thought your luck had changed the instant you saw a cab approach you and accept the ride. That illusion was lost along with the car's gasoline when you were still half way there. You had no choice but to pay the fare and run half the way to work.
When you saw the big sign with the company's name on it, you almost cried with happiness. You crossed the street, this time much calmer, you still had 10 minutes left before the start time.
But this was absolutely nothing to what happened next.
Today you had a very important meeting at work, one where they had practically promised you that you would get the promotion you had been waiting for years, something you knew you deserved, because your performance in this job had been impeccable.
You had to lock yourself in the bathroom so that no one would see you crying from the impotence after they announced at the meeting that the promotion had been given to a guy who had joined the company only a year and a half ago. You weren't surprised to hear that it was the boss's son.
Still, you got up and tried to put your best face forward to the other workers, you knew none of them were to blame. The rest of the day continued with little accidents that were causing the urge to cry and the lump in your throat to become more and more unbearable.
To your good fortune, the trip home wasn't so horrible. You left on time, made the bus without any problems. You tried to concentrate on the pain your heels were causing in your heels instead of the constant throbbing that prevented you from breathing normally. All you wanted to do was lie down on your bed and sleep until tomorrow.
You watched the bus window, letting one tear of the many you had been holding back come out as soon as you noticed the raindrops falling outside. You forgot to bring your umbrella. You wiped the tear away as quickly as you could, taking a long breath and letting your head fall back against the uncomfortable chair. Just a little longer, you thought, a few more minutes and you would finally be home.

Taehyung had arrived half an hour earlier than he was supposed to. They only had a photo shoot and an interview today, so he hadn't been surprised to get home so early either.
He wanted to call you to ask if you wanted to get something special to eat or if you had gone to dinner with some friends from work for the promotion you had told him you were getting today. He was almost as excited as you were when he heard the news and really wanted to celebrate in a big way, but he didn't want to overwhelm you either.
It took him a good few minutes to finally decide that making you dinner himself would be the best gift. There was nothing better than celebrating between the two of you, alone, comfortable and warm at home, especially when they had announced on the news that it would rain today.
He smiled big at the thought of how happy you would be to come home to find him waiting for you with open arms and a dinner specially made for you with the intention of celebrating your amazing work.
He didn't count on the fact that you would come home soaked from head to toe, shivering from the cold and with slightly red eyes and nose. For a moment he almost went into a crisis.
"Honey, what happened, why are you so wet?" he ran to greet you at the door, grabbing your shoulders and trying to see your face. He knew something was wrong just by seeing how you avoided looking him in the eye.
"I forgot my umbrella" you whispered, leaving your heels aside and walking barefoot to your room. You needed to take a shower as soon as possible, you didn't want to get sick now, that would be the last straw.
Taehyung followed you from behind quickly, resting his hand on your waist in an attempt to keep you on your feet. You looked so weak that he actually thought you would pass out right there.
"Did you eat something? You look so pale," he paused in the doorway of your bedroom door, watching as you pulled your pajamas out from under your pillow. You were moving much slower than usual, and that only made his anxiety and worry increase even more, "Y/N, I'm starting to worry, did something happen at work? Did someone hurt you?" he moved closer to you, taking your shoulders as carefully as he could.
It almost broke his heart to see your tear-filled eyes and your bottom lip barely sticking out. "I'm so tired" you sobbed, wailing in frustration as you felt the tears just wouldn't stop falling. Still you tried to wipe them away with your shirt sleeve, "Today really was a horrible day. I could barely make it to work on time, my feet are killing me, and my stupid boss gave my promotion to his son" you said, trying to calm your sobs. You hated crying in front of your boyfriend. "I couldn't even go home in peace because I completely forgot that there was rain tonight." You shook your hair a little, sighing as you watched small drops of water fall to the ground.
Taehyung wasn't sure what to say. He hated seeing you like this, he had never seen you like this in the first place. He knew he might not be able to comfort you with his words, but he hoped he could with his actions.
"Why don't we take a long soak in the tub? We can stay a while relaxing there, try out the new water pumps we bought at Mrs. Kang's store" he whispered, pulling you gently until you were in his arms. He rubbed your back with his hand, while the other gave little pats on your head, "Then we put on those bear pajamas, remember them? You fell in love with them the first time you saw them in the online store." Taehyung smiled as he felt you nod against his chest. He kissed your head, keeping his lips against your hair for a few seconds before speaking again, "I made dinner, it might be a little cold when we're done, but we can heat it up in the microwave if you want, though we could also order takeout."
"Your dinner" you whispered, hugging his waist weakly. You felt a little better than when you arrived, but you still felt too collapsed to be able to hug him back properly.
"Well, my dinner it is," he laughed softly, pulling away just inches to kiss your forehead, "we could have a movie night, how about The notebook?"
"No, that one depresses me" you looked at Tae, letting your weight fall lightly against him, "Let's watch a romantic comedy, like The proposal, or 13 going to 30."
"Okay" Taehyung bent down a little, just enough so he could slip his arm behind your knees and waist, lifting you up in his arms and carrying you to the bathroom. "Let's go to the tub."

"And... done" Taehyung smiled, watching as your hair fell down your back, this time completely dry. "I reckon I did an excellent job, what do you think?" he hugged your waist, kissing your neck playfully.
"I think you're the best thing that could have happened to me in my life" you whispered, turning to look at your boyfriend. He too had slightly damp hair, but only a little. His smile was so big that it ended up rubbing off on you almost immediately. He was right, long soaks in the tub were quite the mood lifter, or maybe it was just your boyfriend.
"You'll make me blush" he chuckled, resting his forehead on your shoulder. His hands caressed your abdomen, forming little circles around the bears your pajama print was wearing.
"I'm just telling the truth" you turned around, hugging his neck and closing your eyes. The smell of his oatmeal shampoo flooded your nostrils. You loved that smell. "I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't been here."
"Well, you would have fallen asleep without tasting my amazing signature dish," he murmured as he brought his nose close to yours. One of his hands stopped on your cheek, lightly caressing your cheekbones. He, unlike you, didn't have his eyes closed, refusing to do so and miss the sight of your beautiful face. Your long eyelashes, your reddish lips, your smile, every mole and mark you had. He didn't say it, but he also constantly wondered what would have become of him without you. "I love you, Y/N" he whispered against your lips, smiling "more than anything in this world, and I will do whatever it takes to keep the smile on the one I love."
You felt a slight tug on your chest, causing you to open your eyes. His gaze was so intense that it made your legs tremble. You let out a small sigh, momentarily looking at his lips.
"You don't need my permission to kiss me, you know?" he laughed playfully, pulling you closer by the waist so he could spread kisses all over your face.
"Taehyung!" you squealed with laughter, trying to resist his displays of affection. You both knew you weren't trying the least bit hard at that.
Taehyung smiled at hearing your laughter again, pausing for a moment to look at your full face again. You looked so beautiful. "I'm sorry," he said softly, waiting for you to calm down a little from your laughter.
As soon as you did, he kissed you. He caressed the back of your neck with his thumb, moving his lips against yours softly. He enjoyed slow, emotional kisses, they were his favorite.
You sighed as you felt his tongue enter your mouth, letting him explore at his leisure. He always took his time.
"I love you" he whispered between kisses, gently leaning you back on the bed.
"I love you more" you smiled, tangling your fingers in his hair.
"Liar" he laughed against your lips, hugging your waist.
"Liar" you smiled, breaking that little line that separated his lips from yours.
How you loved coming home on days like these.

Best friend Taehyung who: it took him years to realize how he felt about you, and when he did, he was desperate to let you know in every way possible. Taehyung's fingers rested nonchalantly on the warm cup of tea in his hands, his eyes fixed on your face and how your expressions changed every time you tasted a different chocolate from the box in front of you. He let out a slight chuckle as he watched you accidentally stain the corner of your lip with the bunny shaped chocolate you had just eaten, there was something about the way you smiled at him and talked about how delicious it was that generated a much stronger warmth than his cup to his hands. "Y/N, come here," he beckoned you with his free hand, stretching it out until he had your face in his grasp. His fingers lightly brushed your cheek as he wiped the chocolate from the corner of your lip with utmost care. His attention was entirely on your lips and how you puckered them as you realized there was a stain you hadn't felt; there was something about your pink, glossy lips that enticed him to caress them, to kiss them. "Tae?" you murmured with a slight frown, "what's wrong? can't you get the stain out?", Taehyung's gaze returned to your eyes, briefly snapping him out of his reverie. "Shit" he whispered, letting go of your cheek and dropping his back against the back of his chair. He ran his hand through his hair, tugging at it as he watched your face with new eyes, how had he not noticed before? "Y/N, I need to make a call, wait here" he stood up awkwardly, almost running to the street outside the coffee shop you were in. He searched through his contacts for Jimin's name, his fingers twitching as he dialed him and listened for the typical beep they played while you waited for the other person to answer. "Taehyung?" asked Jimin on the other end of the line, but was completely ignored by Taehyung, "I'm in love with Y/N" he mumbled as he looked at you through the glass window separating the store from the street, a slight smile growing on his lips, "And you just noticed?" for the second time, Taehyung ignored what Jimin said, feeling a pressure in his chest as his brain processed the discovery, "How do you think I should propose to her?".
Best friend Taehyung who: would pay attention to every single thing you say or do, knowing you so well that he would even notice mannerisms that even you didn't know you had. You grimaced as you felt a pounding headache brought on by the bustle of the place, who knew restaurants could be so noisy? You lowered your hands to your lap, clasping them both together tightly enough to forget the pain in your head and focus on the one in your hands, "Does anything hurt?" whispered Taehyung next to your ear, taking one of yours between his, "You're doing that thing with your hands." You took a second to watch his large hands cover yours completely, only to return to his face and the worry that adorned it, "What are you talking about?" you cocked your head slightly, trying with all your might not to grimace as you felt a particularly sharp twinge in your head, "You always clench your hands when something hurts" he clarified, his gaze studying every action you took for a sign of what specific place it was that was causing you so much pain, "Oh, I didn't know…. " you looked at his hands again, slightly surprised that he had noticed, "my head has been hurting for a while now, the noise doesn't help much, but-" before you could finish, Taehyung stood up from the chair and apologized in a low voice, helping you up as well, walking -still hand in hand- to the exit, "You should have told me earlier, did you endure the pain a lot? " you felt a light squeeze on your hand, laughing softly unable to help it, "No, Taehyung, I'm fine, it's just a little migraine, it will pass soon," you said with a chuckle, letting him lead you to his car, "anyway, why did you leave too? I could have taken a cab," an overly dramatic gasp came from his heart shaped lips, turning around so fast you almost bumped into his chest, "And having to put up with those six idiots without the light that brightens my days… nights in this case," Taehyung smiled big as he saw you laugh again, his fingers gently caressing your knuckles as he heard you say how stupid he sounded. He could be stupid if it made you laugh like that again.
Best friend Taehyung who: would talk to you about his feelings for you by pretending to talk about someone else just to get your opinion. Taehyung stirred the milkshake in his hands, his eyes vacillating between whether to look at your face or the floor. "And what did you say her name is?" you asked, taking a sip of your strawberry slushie, you leaned your back against the backrest of the wooden bench you were both sitting on; it was nice to sit for a while and just talk about simple things while watching the Han River turn an orangey yellow due to the sunset. Taehyung cleared his throat, "Her name isn't important, what is important is the fact that I like her, like, too much, and I'm not sure if I should just take a chance and tell her or not ruin our friendship…" he stirred in his seat, feeling a new uneasiness plague his mind. He hadn't thought much about it at first, but what if you didn't feel the same way? What if you were already in love with someone else? And more importantly, what would he do if this broke your friendship? "I think you're tormenting yourself too much, you know?" you smiled at him in the most reassuring way you could, starting to notice the anxiety and worry the whole situation was generating in him, "if everything you told me before is true, then I'm more than sure that you both feel the same way." Taehyung turned to look at you so fast that for a moment you thought his neck would break, "Are you serious?" he set the plastic cup of his milkshake down on the floor, using his hands to take yours; the earlier worry about how the relationship between Taehyung and his crush might end seemed to no longer matter to him, "Of course it does! Besides, you're an amazing guy, why wouldn't she like you?" you squealed softly as Tae's hands pulled you to his chest, pressing you against him in a tight bear hug, "Oh my god, you don't know how much I adore you, Y/N, you're the best!" he left a soft kiss on your forehead, pulling away just enough to be able to meet your eyes. You convinced yourself that that sparkle in his eyes was due to the evening light.
Best friend Taehyung who: would support you in all your decisions without a second thought as long as it didn't affect you in a negative way. Taehyung came out to the rooftop of your building, sighing in relief as he saw you standing in front of the railing that separated the ground from the void. He approached you quietly, taking off the jacket he was wearing so he could cover your bare shoulders with it, "Something wrong going on in that pretty little head of yours, sweetheart?" he whispered, making sure the jacket covered every bit of skin your clothes didn't cover. "I'm too upset… and sad" you muttered with your eyes fixed on the rest of the buildings surrounding yours, each one bigger than the other, each one more expensive than the last, "it's my life, why can't I choose what to do with it?" you let out a sigh, a small cloud of smoke escaped your lips and disappeared into the dark night sky. Taehyung leaned his arms on the railing, but unlike you, his gaze was fixed on the stars, "May I give my most sincere and humble opinion?" he smiled as he watched out of the corner of his eye as you nodded your head, he took a breath of air, trying to sort out his thoughts a bit, "I think you should do it, what difference does it make what your family thinks? You worked hard for years to get that promotion, you shouldn't, no, you can't give it up just because your parents don't like the idea of you traveling often… it's your dream, something you've wanted for over a decade, don't let them take it away from you" he turned to you, a smile barely visible on his face, "unless you forget to call me every day when you leave, if you do that I forbid you to set foot on the plane" he said with a mocking tone, resting the tip of his index finger on your forehead. You laughed along with him, feeling a tear escape from your left eye, "Thank you, Taehyung, you are the best friend ever" you hugged him tightly, hiding your face in his chest. His hand paused on your back, gently rubbing it as he rested his chin on your head, ignoring the sharp pang he felt in his chest at hearing you call him 'friend'.
Best friend Taehyung who: would constantly dream about you and what his life would be like if you were together. A big smile took over Taehyung's face when he saw your back moving back and forth in the kitchen as you hummed a Lady Gaga song. He approached you from behind, trying to make as little noise as possible, his hands coming forward and preparing to trap your waist between them as soon as he was close enough. "I can hear you, Tae" you hummed as you stirred the pot in front of you, laughing softly as you felt a whimper behind you , "You're so mean to me" he mumbled, pouting in a vain attempt to give you grief; he stopped when he noticed you were too focused on what you were cooking. He finished moving closer to you and wrapped his arms around your waist, kissing your shoulder tenderly. "Are you wearing my shirt?" he hid his face in your neck as he heard you say yes, the warmth so characteristic he felt every time he was with you became even greater, as if that was possible, "It looks amazing on you… why don't you keep it?" he whispered over your ear, feeling a little more confident as he saw the effect he had on you and your body, "Because it looks amazing on you too" you whispered, feeling your cheeks light up as Tae's kisses moved down your neck to your shoulder. His grip became even tighter, pulling your body closer to his, "You can't even imagine how much I love you, honey" he murmured between kisses and bites against your skin, preparing his ears to hear your response, "Tae, I…" he let out a loud gasp as he felt something hit his head, opening his eyes lazily, looking around the room. This wasn't his kitchen, and you weren't there. He growled under his breath, banging his head against the floor again, "You always end my dreams at the most important moment!" he shouted towards the ceiling, frowning. At least this time you had reached to say something.
Best friend Taehyung who: would propose in the most clichéd and romantic way possible. Taehyung's heart almost exploded as he felt the front door of your apartment close. He quickly checked that every detail was where it needed to be; the candles, the light blue rose petals, the flowers, the food, the speaker, him. "What's this?" he heard you say from the doorway, his breathing getting faster and faster as he felt your footsteps sound louder, "Oh, Tae? What…?" you stopped as you took in the whole scene in front of you. The path of rose petals that had greeted you at the entrance ended right in front of your table perfectly adorned with a three candle candelabra, a lace tablecloth and two wine glasses; in front of the table stood Taehyung, wearing a full beige suit that contrasted perfectly with the colorful bouquet of flowers she carried in his hands. You felt your throat tighten at the sight, "Y/N I…. " he swallowed saliva, awkwardly approaching you, stumbling - and almost falling to the floor - from stepping on some of the petals, "I-I'm not sure how to start this, I went over the speech so many times in my head, but I don't really remember anything at the moment and-" his eyes stopped on your face, feeling his mouth go dry as he paid attention on how you looked; your loose hair stretching down your back, your lips just a little pink from the lipstick Jimin had bought you a few weeks ago, your cheeks flushed and your bright eyes fixed on his. For a second his heart stopped and his brain stopped working, simply saying what he felt in those moments, what he had been feeling for you for years "I love you".
