I Missed You

Johnny Storm x Reader

Rating: T (mentions an unstable family setting)

Requested by an amazing anon!

Author’s Note: I had a plan for this request but when typing it out, it seemed forced when condensed into a one-shot. I hope you don’t mind but I think I’m going to release it in three parts.

I really hope you like the beginning!

Part Two   Part Three (End)

The fighting had become a part of them. Eat, sleep, argue. The process would continue, wearing the both of you thin as every insecurity became open game in those moments, the damage growing worse as each day carried over to the next.

Until finally, one of you snapped.

“What about me Johnny? Why am I expected to wait for you while you flirt with every girl you see?”

“Flirting? You think that’s what I’ve been doing? Why the hell would I still do that when I have you?”

He began to pace across the room, his hands running through his hair before he suddenly froze. Anger radiated from his skin as he walked towards you, his eyes narrowed as he spoke to finally utter the words that he knew would break you and the fiery spirit that could surprisingly match his.

“Just because your dad left your psychotic mother for a better model doesn’t mean everyone will do the same thing. You really need to get over these daddy issues.”

With just those few sentences, tears began to cloud your vision, blocking the sight of the now shocked and defeated man that stood in front of you. With a deep breath, you clumsily reached for the single letter that lay inside your purse. It had been the main reason you had come over and now, it just proved to be the best escape. As you looked down at the formal letter, your name typed neatly on the white envelope, you sighed as you watched it grow dirty with the tears that had finally fallen. With a scoff, you threw it on the table beside you, rubbing a hand over your face as you walked towards the door. One more deep breath and you were gone, leaving the paper behind.

It would be days until he’d open it, letting the anger and hurt subside to finally pull the already torn seal to read the contents of the letter. With an air of formality found within the envelope alone, his heart dropped as he began to read what lay inside.

You had been accepted to the University of California, a college that was across the country. With a full-ride scholarship, they offered you the chance to escape from the life you endured here. Of course, you would take it. In California, there would be no reminder that your father had left you alone with a woman who could barely take care of herself. There would be no more nights in which you’d had to pick up for her and the new man she had brought home that day. With a frown, he stumbled back on his bed, his hands dropping the letter to grip his hair tightly.

What about him? Where did he fit into this new phase in your life? With a newfound desperation to find out what you had been meaning to say before the fight had begun, he stumbled out the door.

With labored breaths, he quickly hopped onto his motorcycle and sped the few miles to your house. His rushed knocks soon echoed in the silent air, forcing his heart to stop. Now with harsh pounds against the flimsy door, Johnny shouted your name loudly before stepping back, hoping to catch a glimpse of your shadow in the upstairs window. As his blue eyes frantically searched for a sign, he jumped as the door slammed open, revealing your mother. A frown set on her face, she leaned against the door, already answering the question that Johnny had been dying to ask.

“She’s gone.”

His eyes widened at the revelation and he stumbled towards your mother. His heart froze as he began to stutter, his eyes frantically searching her face as if to find that this had all been some cruel joke.

“W-Where is she?”

She shrugged, looking back into the house and motioning to whoever was inside. No doubt her latest fling. With an exasperated sigh, she turned back, her voice rushed as she ran a hand over her face.

“Hell if I know. All I know is her room is empty and a note was on the table saying goodbye.” With that, she slammed the door, her loud voice growing faint as she ran back to whoever was calling for her. It was as if the disappearance of her daughter was nothing...

Meanwhile, Johnny felt the crushing pain consume him. His legs wobbled as he walked slowly to his bike until he finally collapsed, his back hitting the hard metal. One hand clutching his chest, he hid his head between his legs as he tried to calm down. His breathing was labored, tears fell freely from his eyes, and despite his attempts to end this sign of weakness, he also longed for it to stay.

He deserved it.

You were gone and there was no way he could get you back.
