Overwatch 2 Maps: Rome!
So, as well as talking about who is going to join the Recalled Overwatch and possible new characters(eventually), I also want to talk about maps we know about and new maps I want. So, this is about Rome.
The thing about Rome is that we should have had it on our radar for possible maps and from what I saw before Blizzconline it wasn’t on anyone’s radar. I’m saying this because it has been mentioned before. While reading What you left behind by Alyssa Wong for my post about Baptiste, one line really caught my eye.
“What are you doing here?” Baptiste said quietly... “Well, as you can see, I’m enjoying the sun and fresh ocean breeze,” said Mauga. “It reminds me of home. Talon HQ is so dreary; it’s nice to get out of Rome every now and again.” (Wong, Page 6).
This quote blatantly states that Talon has an HQ in ROME, the new map! It is important because it means that, this map, which we have only gotten glimpses of, may be the Talon HQ map!! We have gotten several maps that are Overwatch base maps, like Watchpoint: Gibraltar or Ecopoint: Antarctica, but no Talon base map. This also makes me really excited because it might mean that we may get more Talon characters since it is a Talon map. I think this might happen because of Kanezaka being added and the Kanezaka Fox girl hints, check out Master Ian Gamer’s YouTube video on this theory.
Anyways, I’m really happy about Rome being added and that it will probably be a Talon HQ map. In the future, once I get through some of the post ideas I’ve already written down, I’ll make a couple posts about possible Talon characters. Also go check out Master Ian Gamer on YouTube, he covers everything Overwatch and is just a really great content creator especially if you like the lore of Overwatch.
So, TLDR: Rome should have been on everyone’s radar for possible new maps since we know from Baptiste’s short story that Rome is Talon HQ and based off of things in Kanezaka, we might get new Talon characters in OW2.
Overwatch Events/Updates: Bastet Ana and Sojourn Trailer
Alright, here's a quick update on stuff. Sorry that this is short, I've been super busy this week.
The Bastet Ana challenge is live until April 19th. You need to win a maximum of 27 games to get the skin (a win counts as two points). Here is a link to the twitter announcement.
We got more information about Sojourn via an Origin Story video.
Some of this information includes: her actual name is Vivian Chase, she is an Acting Commander for some organization(it might be Overwatch, but I'm not sure when she is referencing that title bc that could mess with the timeline), she was a member of the Canadian Special Forces when she first worked with Overwatch during the Omnic Crisis. After that Jack Morrison got into contact with her about joining Overwatch and she ended up joining. She worked a lot of different types of missions in Overwatch, she just did whatever was needed to do.
We knew she had some cybernetic/prosthetics, but there seem to be a lot more than we could see before. She had some kind of cybernetics connected to her arms, legs, and eyes. She also has the little mechanical pieces on her face that some other characters have (Doomfist and Moira, kind of. So, maybe she was hurt by Talon or those types of cybernetics were created by Overwatch and taken by Talon). There are probably more things revealed in the origin story, but those were the main things in my eyes. I will include the video below for you to watch, but here is the twitter link for anyone who wants it.
Smaller note: apparently the codenames most Overwatch agents use seem to be called 'Callsigns'. I never heard about this, so I'm not sure if this is specific to Sojourn or if this is some new thing they have expanded on in lore.
