A Kiss to Silence

The TARDIS was parked on a vibrant alien planet, its skies swirling with hues of purple and orange. The Doctor and Donna were in the middle of an argument—again.

“I can’t believe you thought it was a good idea to steal the Time Crystal!” Donna exclaimed, hands on her hips, her voice echoing through the console room. “What were you thinking? You nearly got us vaporized!”

The Doctor, with his trademark grin, replied, “But it was an adventure! And the locals were so friendly—”

“Friendly? They wanted to roast us!” she shot back, exasperated.

As he continued to defend his reckless choices, Donna felt her frustration bubbling over. She wasn’t mad at him for stealing the crystal; she was mad at herself for caring so much about his reckless antics. He always had that effect on her—making her feel things she couldn’t quite articulate.

“Honestly, Doctor, you never think ahead! It’s like you—”

Suddenly, in a moment of pure impulse, Donna stepped forward, grabbed his collar, and kissed him fiercely, cutting off his words. The surprise of the kiss stopped the Doctor mid-sentence, his eyes wide in shock.

When she pulled back, both of them were breathless, and the realization hit them simultaneously.

“What just happened?” he stammered, touching his lips as if trying to process the electric charge still lingering between them.

“I... I kissed you,” Donna said, bewilderment mingling with a hint of defiance in her eyes.

“Yes, you did,” he replied, a smile creeping onto his face. “But why?”

“Because you wouldn’t shut up!” she exclaimed, frustration giving way to an unexpected flutter of excitement.

And then it dawned on both of them—this was more than a moment of anger or a fluke. They had been dancing around their feelings for each other all this time, wrapped up in banter and adventures, but now it was all laid bare.

“I suppose,” the Doctor began, a twinkle in his eye, “that means we’ve been dating all along, haven’t we?”

Donna crossed her arms, pretending to be annoyed, but the corners of her mouth betrayed her. “Well, if that’s how you want to label it. But you’d better start thinking ahead!”

“Thinking ahead is my specialty!” he said, his grin widening.

As they stood there, the weight of their unspoken feelings began to lift, replaced by a lightness that filled the TARDIS. The argument was forgotten, and instead, they found themselves lost in each other’s eyes, the air crackling with newfound possibilities.

“Now, how about we go on a proper date?” he suggested, his enthusiasm infectious.

“Only if you promise not to steal anything this time!” Donna shot back, laughter bubbling up.

“Deal!” The Doctor took her hand, and together they stepped into the unknown, ready for whatever adventure awaited them—this time, as more than just friends.

Things in TV Canon that give me Ten/Donna feels.

When Ten puts in suit jacket around Donna’s shoulders, with the floofy hair and the soft smiles. 

“With this ring, I thee bio-damp.” - “For Better or for worse”

Any time he says she looks lovely.

or calls her brilliant.

“Will I see you again?” - “If I’m lucky” 

(Honestly like The Runaway Bride as a whole. From their rooftop wedding to their reception to their honeymoon in space watching the earth)

Like how in sync they are. I know it’s destiny and fate pulling them together but considering they met each other once before Partners in Crime, they should not be able to non-verbally communicate the way they do!

Whilst we’re at it… They are literally each other’s destiny and fate is literally pulling them together.

The thing were one of them is all grumpy until they see the other one smile and then they both smile like so fondly. 

“All the decent men are on the other bus.” - “Or Time Lords”

“Oh I’m pretty boy?” - “YES! Oooh, that came out a bit quick.”

The fact the universe literally thinks they are married. Like everyone they meet. Even Martha is like damn “I can see why he likes you!” and even Rose realises that Ten needs Donna to be able to fix the reality bomb. Everyone can see how important they are to each other. 

The way Ten totally freezes when he sees Donna as a node in The Library. 

The way he just crumbles after she’s left. There’s no one that can stop him because she can’t ever remember. 

The total family dynamics in The Doctor’s Daughter. Jenny just loves her adopted mum and biological dad.

Ten stopping Donna from using her womanly wiles… because I totally read this as he gets jealous and can’t cope but he’s disguising it as they wouldn’t be as effective. 

but we know it’s effective because his face after that kiss. 

“I must do that more often!”

She was going to be with him forever and he wanted that. He so wanted that. She was his soulmate. 

The way he cannot look away from her in The End of Time when they are in the cafe. It breaks his heart but all he wants to know is whether she is happy. 

The fact Wilf says she’s settling because he knows… he knows man. 

Oh and their hugs! Like all of them. They look like great hugs. <3

Ten and Donna always perfection.

A few words on Donna Noble

I have a friend, who is a man, who hates Donna Noble, and it upsets me every time we talk about it.

Let me tell you why.

Donna Noble is all the girls and women who feel like they’re too loud, and take up too much room. They are all the girls and women who have opinions; who want to be heard, but nobody really wants to listen.

But they keep trying anyways. They keep being loud, and they keep taking up room because they don’t know how not to.

They’re not Disney Princesses.

They’re not the love interest.

They want to be the hero of their own story, but they don’t feel like they matter enough to make it happen, because in all the stories they’ve seen, they’re the sassy, goofy, too-loud friend.

Donna was for us girls who want the world, but the world’s not so interested in us.

The idea that we matter, that we’re important, when everyone has told us for forever that we’re not, was huge for me.

So my friend saying he didn’t like Donna, kind of felt like he was saying he didn’t like me.

Look at Donna’s reaction to this.

She looks like she could cry from just this one gesture. And the Doctor does it naturally, as if she’s deserving of common decency like everyone else, which she clearly feels she is not. He shows her care, which is profoundly lacking in her life.

This is why Donna jumps in front of him later against the Racnoss. He really wraps her in his jacket, a gesture of compassion. It’s one of the foundations of their love story, besides the laughing.

I just realized that in The Doctor's Daughter gif they are literally just holding each other, which makes their immediate denial ten times funnier.

Like Donna rolls her eyes like "I can't believe this."

Girl. He was just wrapping you up and you were just holding his arm.
