TFATWS Episode 3: First Reactions to My Favorite Lines

I was sad when Bucky said: “We have history. Trust me.” --LIKE Of course Sam remembers, he was there and what happened was f’d up.

ROFL disapprovingly at the Machiavelli prison-break scene. It was ridiculously mischievous.

ROFL when Zemo said: “May I?” --and the boys said: “NO!” --and Zemo just smirked.

Lol’d when Zemo said: “Marvin Gaye’s ‘Troubleman’ is a timeless representation of the African American experience”.

Then ROFL when Sam responded: “He’s way out of line, but he’s right.”

Lol’d when Sam looked at the photoshop of him as Conrad “Smiling Tiger” Whatever and then at Zemo like, “WHO ARE YOU?”

I approved when Sam restrained Bucky’s vibranium arm and said, “If you stay in character, we’ll be alright.”

I was infuriated when Zemo “turned ‘on’” the Winter Soldier and groped Bucky’s face in front of those other criminals.

Lol’d when Sam said: “Alright, I see what you’re doing. You’re both more worldly than good ol’ Sam.”

Lol’d when Sarah said to her son: “What did I say about the Cheerios?!”

ROFL when Sharon said to Bucky: “You’re Mr. America, Cap’s best friend. And you ruined my life!”

I WAS AMAZED when Sharon subdued a whole squad of thugs on the cargo ship on Sam and Bucky’s behalf.

Lol’d when Sharon said: “That was one hell of a reunion.”

I agreed with Sam when he said: “I can’t believe the way Nagel spoke about Isaiah like he wasn’t a real person.”

I was sad about all the death, however, especially when Karli Morgantheau said: “THIS IS THE ONLY LANGUAGE THEY UNDERSTAND!”

I was doubly sad when Zemo said to Sam and Bucky: “Neither of you went to the Sokovia memorial, right? Of course, not.”

Lol’d when Bucky said to Ayo: “I thought you’d never show.”

And ROFL when Wakanda’s Dora Melajo lieutenant Ayo said: “I’M HERE FOR ZEMO.”

Supporting the Future Captain America: Sam’s Journey

After episode 2 of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, I had so many thoughts and feels about some topics the show presented. This post: Marvel is showing America how we support Black people into positions of power, and I love it.

When Sam refused to become Captain America, I completely understood his decision. He never says it outright, but a part of his decision is based on the fact that he’s a Black man in America and believed that he wouldn’t be accepted. The writers of the show don’t explicitly tell us this, but they smartly let viewers come to their own conclusion after these scenes:
