My grandma asked me to draw fanart of Teacher and Shiva from "The Girl from the Other Side" manga. She saw me watching the OVA movie and said "Aww what a cute little girl!" so we watched together and she loved it and wanted fanart, so here it is!
I really loved the manga and beautiful relationships between these two, but the ending honestly SUCKS DONKEY BALLS. It had the same feeling as the ending of Game of Thrones to me, it left me completely empty and I felt like I wasted time on this story for no reason. At least, the anime version had a better ending. And the animation was stunning!
Teacher and Shiva are still very dear characters to me and I still adore the relationship they had up until the last volume. I hope we get a full length anime series with them, just with a different ending lmao.
The art was made with pastels, charcoal and colored chalks on paper.

SPOILERS AHEAD
forget me not - obvious reference to the Black Children and how they eventually forget who they are as they near the end of their "life cycle".
white clover (in coffin) - white clovers typically symbolize innocence.
4 leaf clover - like I wrote in a previous post on my Witch Hat Atelier seasons piece, the 4 leaf clover symbolizes luck and good fortune. Like Coco, Shiva to her loved ones is a symbol of fortune, though to the Inside Kingdom, a symbol of misfortune.
sunflower - typically symbolize strength and warmth, a fitting flower for Shiva, the light illuminating Teacher's dark past.
nasturtium - another flower symbolizing strength, and has strong ties to the "victory" after battle. apparently soldiers used to don them as a sign of a long battle won. fun fact they are also edible (don't take my post for nutritional advice please) (ill probably write a bit more on this topic when my head is more clear)
just finished reading the manga the girl from the other side. it was one heck of a rollercoaster ride, i cried multiple times on different periods of time while reading it. teacher and shiva went through a lot, they the deserve the whole world 🥹🤲🏻 i love them sm. it was such a bittersweet tale <𝟑

just finished watching it and needless to say, i loved it ! it was such a wholesome watch, it warmed my heart ♡ ₊ ⊹ and the fact that they didn’t need to say a thing, but still it was shown how gentle teacher is to shiva 🫶🏻 he baked her pie and watched the stars with her, he’s so sweet !
DO NOT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE BOAT SCENE !! literally almost burst out crying when teacher hugged shiva only for it to deceive me when it was shown he only hugged her in the reflection of the water LET THIS MAN HUG HIS LITTLE GIRL ‼️‼️
