In the world of Fae, humans are accepted, but they are servants and workers. Sometimes, those humans do something outstanding for the Fae that they are granted the same fortune as they have: become Fae.

Adessa's great great grandfather is one such human. He was granted the opportunity to become Fae, but before that happened, he had a wife and a child, but the Fae aren't so kind to have his family become part of the Folk. Instead they were regarded as greater than other humans. They lived among the Folk (if they wished) almost as one of them. But such families weren't common.

Although Adessa has grown up in similar splendour as the Fae, she has never gone out to interact with them. It was safer and easier to not get their attention. But things change after her best friend dies and she finds out who did it. Now she lives among the Folk, becoming close with the first prince, Nova, while her attention keeps going to Caelan, the second prince, the one ostracised by everyone, due to the lack of powers everyone else in the royal family has.

There exist two worlds. The world of humans and the world of Fae. In the world of Fae, nature is the most important part. Everything is made around it. There are many things that the world of Fae doesn't have that the world of humans does, but it is the same the other way around. The world of the Fae is called Vilena.

royal family

Many years ago, King Gavril became the first true king of the Fae. He was gifted with the powers of telepathy and soothsaying. Then his children were gifted with powers of their own and their children as well. That is the royal family of Vilena.

humans being turned into fae

When a human does something remarkable, they can get the opportunity to become Fae. For such a ritual, a member of the royal family, usually the king, has to kill the human with a specific dagger and drop them into a pool. The details of it are only known to the royal family as no one is present and the turned human is forced to forget.
