Fun Fact: “The Nights” by Avicii is an ode to good fun and also to the singer’s father. The “pirate-y fight” (as described by the writer Nicholas Furlong) sound to the song was inspired by the bars in Ireland, where they play folk music which is upbeat and easy to dance (and drink) to. This song is also Avicii’s contribution to the soundtrack of EA Sports‘ FIFA 15.

“These are the nights, that never die!”
He had fun. He always knew how to have fun. He had to teach me the lessons on how to have fun. We were both young that year, and our shadows began to disappear. Nothing bad was following us now.
The animals inside of us, began to mysteriously come out and play. He taught me how to face my fears, and we both made memories…. memories we both knew would never fade.
He saw how inexperienced I was. I always listened to my father about guys like him. He told me “Don’t fall for them… If they don’t open the door for you, walk away… and if they don’t follow you, continue walking.”
His father had a different meaning.
His father told him, “Son, don’t let them slip away… when you get older, your wild heart will live for younger days, but don’t be afraid to think of me, if you do feel afraid”
He told me, “One day, you’ll leave this world behind, and life you will remember” He wanted me to leave my life…. My old, boring life to… his crazy one… I’m not meant for this…
Am I?
We were at a party… It was loud and crazy and all, but then it got pretty stormy. The thunder clouds started rolling around. We all ran. He grabbed my hand, and we ran off somewhere… I don’t know where… it was in the middle of the woods somewhere.
He had a lighter lit, and it seemed like the rain can’t put it out. He was smiling at me… I don’t know if he wanted to be “Just friends” or more….
Maybe he want’s what I want…
He and I looked up into the stars, and we started writing our names in the sky. At some point, he trails his hand down my arm, and slides his fingers, through mine, and we hold hands. It was strange… holding someone’s hand. He then told me, “Go venture far beyond the shores. Don’t forsake this life of yours… But I’ll guide you home no matter where you are.”
I found myself falling for his little poems…. I found him even more beautiful than ever. The rain began to pour.. and we both found ourselves leaning in, until our lips finally closed in.
The kiss was magical…
I thought I was in love…
Was he?
Because this night, I don’t wanna forget..
This night will never die on me… Will it die on him?
because these are the nights, that never die…
