"I didn't expect to see you again—outside of class, that is—so soon. Especially since we're meeting tonight," Damien said as he stepped off the ladder leading into and out of the Divination classroom.
Sebastian had been waiting for him at the bottom, leaning against the wall, his hair pre-tousled for the greatest effect.
"Why ever not?" Sebastian responded, looping his arm through Damien's. "We are seeing each other now, aren't we?"
Damien arched a brow as he eyed their joined arms. "In no uncertain terms, it seems."
"I wouldn't say that exactly. There are still some items left on the table for discussion." Sebastian really needed things to be cleared up. He didn't do well with uncertainty.
"Oh, you were serious about defining the terms of our relationship, then?"
"Serious as a dementor."
"I have no idea what that is," Damien said. There was a brief pause in their conversation as Damien waved at Amit who was going up the stairs on their left.
Sebastian waited—impatiently—for Damien's focus to return to him, and only him, before continuing, "They're creepy guards that stalk Azkaban, a magical prison that holds the most dangerous of criminals. Dementors feast on your soul, draining it away. Truly unsettling creatures, from what I've gathered."
"That sounds rather serious, indeed."
"Deathly." Sebastian cleared his throat. "But circling back to our 'terms' conversation..."
Damien smirked, his eyes sparkling. "Yes, yes. That's up to you, I suppose."
They had stopped walking now, alighting in front of the painting of Wendelin the Weird. Damien eased himself onto the couch. He patted the spot beside him, inviting Sebastian to join him.
Sebastian obliged, and said with a cheeky grin, "Okay then, my partner-in-crime."
"Partner-in-crime?" Damien repeated, a hint of amusement in his tone. "I thought this conversation was heading toward a more thorough definition of what our relationship entails..."
Sebastian cut in before Damien could finish his thought. "I was getting to that." He began playfully counting off on his fingers in the air. "Snogging, clever repartee, allowing me to snatch food off your plate..."
"Hold on," Damien said, swatting at Sebastian's hand. "That last one sounds a bit much."
Sebastian feigned seriousness. "That's non-negotiable."
"Hmmm," Damien replied, a contemplative expression on his face. Sebastian found himself quite charmed. Quite charmed, indeed.
"Oh, and we can't forget about you joining me in all clandestine adventures that could lead to detention. After all, detention can be quite a solitary affair."
"True, true. So, in summary, besides the obvious, my duties include food sharing, witty banter, and rescuing you from the clutches of detention-induced boredom?"
"Precisely. Quite the comprehensive list, wouldn't you say?"
Damien chuckled. "Well, I suppose I can handle those responsibilities."
"Excellent! Then I believe we have ourselves a..." Sebastian paused, a glint of mischief in his eyes, "...co-conspiratorial alliance."
"A co-conspiratorial alliance it is, partner-in-crime."
That was settled then. Sebastian leaned in and kissed him.
