this is episode ONE. the writing + voice work is so thoughtfully crafted here. scrooge's voice going shrill when he assures donald he won't lose the boys. his eyes pleading with his nephew. THE SPEAR OF SELENE.
they could have easily given away the spear of selene tragic backstory too soon, or underplayed it so that the audience wouldn't have even noticed what they were saying, but they didn't. there is enough characterization in the dialogue to make scrooge and donald's animosity believable, while also not tipping off the viewers as to how important their history is. they simply make the spear of selene sound like a passing line.
this show impresses me to no end.
