Hello, love! Your new url is so cool! You’re so nice indulging me with the suit!porn. God this is embarrassing but which one is the wool one? I think my favourite is L’s Dior suit but I love his oyster Vivienne Westwood one. I have a picture of it somewhere, but anyway, I like it because it’s totally not what he’d wear and he did just choose it because it was a bit snazzy and he really was only trying to impress Mr Shithead. I’m also very fond of Light’s Alexander McQueen suit. I’m with you, except I think I made that one up as an ode to McQueen, do you like my deezaaans? :D
This is the saddest of the sad but I have actual moodboards for all the clothes in Those for the mains up to last year (the shame of it, but I love moodboards and clothes, it’s not my fault! This is a result of the systematic brainwashing by tutors that you need moodboards for everything). I’ll post it because I forgot about them, it’s funny that I’m this pathetic, everyone needs suit!porn, and Light’s favourite coat is by Burberry and is pretty damn amazing. I don’t think I ever put it in the story though? If it turns up in the last part then it’s your fault, missus. Naomi, Kiyomi and Mihael are the best dressers out of all of them imo.

I know, I finally know what L and Light's passionate, violent relationship reminds me of : Liz Taylor and Richard Burton. :D Ahah, yeah I know, I know, just wanted to share this crazy thought of mine (reinforced by the fact they share the same zodiac signs oh my!). Public because they were a big inspiration since I read ‘Furious Love’ and Burton’s letters, so I’m so pleased that you picked up on that! Ted Hughes with Sylvia Plath and Assia Wevill as well but not so much. There was one thing I remember from Richard Burton’s love letters to Liz where he was saying quite unflattering things about her but basically worshipping her at the same time in his very Welsh Valleys romantic way. And he said something like ‘when we’re deep in rut you look at me with such hatred,’ which I made a mental note of for the shitbabies because that’s them. I looked up a few TV interviews of L+R together and it was the best insight into their relationship. It was like they were always arguing but then they’d be so aggressive in defending each other if they felt they were being even slightly criticised. They were so intense it was scary, wasn’t it? A lot of love/obsession and need for drama there so it was a very unhealthy kind of stormy compatibility. I’m so chuffed that you think that. :D And omg I never realised that they share the same star signs! Thank you very much, I hope you have a great day, too. xxx

I can’t think of anything in particular that I’m really *slaps self on shoulder and pops open a bottle of champagne ‘well done, Laura, you ol’ minx* proud of but I like certain things when I think they read a bit cinematically. I like Light’s spaced-out moments when he sees, does or says something and then it turns out that it didn’t happen. They’re sort of incidental but revealing sometimes as much as they’re misleading, and they were a free licence to write something mad and then take it back because they show how unreliable a narrator he is in the most obvious way. I’m happy with the epilogue I’m still working on, and I think L got all the best lines. :)
how did you learn so much about politics?
Hi Anononny hi, thanks for the question! In the UK it’s kind of left to the individual to find out about politics if they’re interested in it at all. My parents would talk to me about it but I got fed up of feeling stupid asking questions like ‘Why does everyone hate Margaret Thatcher?’ and not understanding much about something very important, so I got some introduction to politics books from the library and got a bit obsessed with it. I’m about the same as other people who are interested in politics and don’t avoid it though, tbh, I don’t think I know a hell of a lot about it. I hope that in the US and other countries that Government and Politics is generally covered in the pre-college education system and made more accessible but my school didn’t at all and it’s horrifying because this shit has a huge and lasting impact on everyone’s lives. Having the vote is something taken for granted in democratic countries but it’s something ordinary people fought and died for and what a lot of people in other countries don’t have. We shouldn’t all be guilt-tripped into caring and voting but when the turn out for elections is so low and we end up with hung votes it makes me really angry. Hung governments are disasters, it’s a terrible thing thing when the country is so apathetic that they can’t get behind a party so that one wins outright. I’m as cynical as they come about politics and watch it like the clusterfuck Greek tragedy/comedy mashup it is, but it’s so important to understand it and keep up with what’s going on to object and that if and when you vote you’re as informed as possible. I read a lot of books and articles which are the least biased and watch debate programmes and BBC Parliament. Having a political dictionary is very good to have around whenever a politician uses some terminology to avoid a question and freeze people out.
The funny thing is that there isn’t THAT much actual politics in Those. I’d love there to be more politics in it, but it’s a backdrop for a wacky main character with wacky views and who thinks it’s all a piece of piss and not worth talking about much. Hopefully it’s effective as a satirical statement through passing mentions and things being glossed over, but it is primarily a fic about relationships and I don’t think I could cover both equally and make it even slightly readable or interesting. Something which I have a morbid interest in about politics is the grotty sex culture and scandals, skullduggery, bribery, hypocrisy, puppetry and how cliquey it is, so there’s a focus on that. Obviously it’s not grotty if Light’s involved though because he’s a force for good who’ll rid the institution of all its corruption through being grotty, shady, corrupt and having a good time. :D God love him.

Started rereading Those again, will post stuff as it comes to me...
some chapter one thoughts:
#1 - I totally forgot that Jeevas has a master's degree, and for some reason I just love the way he and Light interact after he gets exposed in the papers for his affair with Misa? Light explaining the weird ins and outs of how it all works in their world is very interesting to me.
#2 - All I want in the world is a very dramatic season one trailer for Those because I love the first arc so much. I was talking about this with @lightlessons earlier... we agreed it would focus a lot on hyping up Those!L's introduction and never quite revealing him, you know, a definite voiceover with Jeevas saying that L is "a rottweiler" and all. And the fade out for the trailer would have Light saying his "I don't want to be understood" line from the end of chapter one... ahhh it could be so good

1. Who likes to sit in the other’s lap?
Stephen could not physically fit in Jeevas’ lap, but I don’t imagine Jeevas would particularly like to sit in Stephen’s lap. Maybe Stephen would try to crush him if he got drunk enough though.
2. On a cold day, who likes to snuggle up to the other?
Stephen is a bit more affectionate, whereas Jeevas doesn’t quite care at all. I can’t imagine Jeevas would be a very warm person though, so maybe Jeevas while pretending to be asleep hahaha
3. Who cooks the food and who does the dishes?
Stephen does literally everything. Jeevas either eats out or gets wasted at 3pm and passes out, before waking up again at like 10pm and going out.
4. How would they describe each other to loved ones who haven’t met their partner yet?
Stephen: He’s… nice…

5. Who is more likely to kiss their partner on their forehead?
Stephen! Once again, I definitely feel like Stephen is more affectionate. It doesn’t seem like something their relationship would really entail though lmao.
6. Who makes a scrapbook of all their memories to give to their partner for a special event? Ex- anniversary, birthday, etc.
Stephen! He loves to make scrapbooks for the nostalgia, and it makes him happy to look back on physical tokens of good memories. Jeevas looks at it once.
7. Where would they go to get away from everyone else and just be alone?
Together, I think Stephen would drag Jeevas to a nice cabin in the woods where they’re away from everyone. Jeevas would probably either die or be high the entire time, so I think Stephen would probably just book a flight back home and let Jeevas do whatever he wants.
8. Who would want to take cute pictures for Instagram?
Both of them firmly believe that the other would ruin their Instagram aesthetic. Stephen posts pictures of fishes he catches and his family, whereas Jeevas has various drunk selfies. Stephen also does not want to remind his family of the existence of Jeevas.
9. Who would most likely call their partner, dude, babe and idiot, all in the same sentence?
Jeevas! For sure! I don’t think an explanation is necessary, aggressive jeevas vibes.
10. How do they let their loved ones know they are dating?
Jeevas doesn’t tell his family because he doesn’t even think to, and if he did they wouldn’t care anyway. Stephen talks to his family on the phone talking about his new boyfriend, and eventually takes him back home for thanksgiving, where they have a disastrous dinner and Jeevas gets arrested (and Stephen’s parents stage an intervention for Stephen because GOD! He’s worse than the last one you brought home!)
11. Who breaks out in a dance when they hear their favourite song and who joins their partner dancing no matter what they are currently doing?
Stephen dances at family weddings out of loyalty, and Jeevas doesn’t dance unless he’s wasted. So I guess Jeevas as both answers?
12. If they each went to go buy an outfit for one another, what would they get?
Stephen for Jeevas: All denim. It’s entirely denim.
Jeevas for Stephen: A matching ‘karate sluts’ t-shirt and a bright green hat. Nothing else.
13. Who still blushes when their partner compliments them?
Neither of them really blush, so neither lol
14. What memories do they share together that will stay with them forever?
Jeevas getting arrested at his first family celebration with Stephen’s parents.

Jeevas, wasted, sings a terrible beautiful rendition of ‘Sandstorm’ by Darude. Also it’s not karaoke night. It’s a Wednesday night at home and Stephen is trying to read Proust, god damn it!
