Paige Poppe

Paige Poppe is the true representation of what an artist is. Paige is an Arizona native with an ambition for art and the community. I was lucky enough to spend the day with her and ask her about her life as well as her transformation of who she is today. She made stamps and touched up an old board while we conversed. “Four Year Strong” had been playing in the background and the white walls were covered with skateboard art.

Paige started her creative career in high school when she took a social issue class. She got introduced to the world of urban design. Urban design is how buildings, spaces, and landscapes are formed to establish successful development of a city. Paige started researching and found what she wanted to become. With the support of her parents, she took the risk and moved to an out-of-state college to pursue the dreams of becoming an architect.

Paige, while pursuing her dreams of being an architect, developed a love of designing skateboards. It all started when she wanted to do something creative for a friend’s birthday. She had wood-burned a blank deck before and thought it would make a great gift. He loved it and all her friends raved about it. This inspires her to then put a few online on “Etsy” and start designing custom skateboard art. Paige used this as a way to relax from school. She then traveled abroad to Denmark for the year.
During the first three years of architecture school, Paige became extremely busy. She caught up in a cycle of working so much that she gradually failed to remember how to simply relax and casually talk with friends. Living in Denmark was an eye-opening experience for her. Denmark’s slow and intimate lifestyle inspired her adopt it herself. While being there, she slowly became her true self. Denmark, was also where Paige’s love of skateboard design turned into a passion.

She, being without her paints and skate decks while living abroad, discovered how much she loved designing skateboards. Removed from her love of art, she started a “Kickstarter” campaign and began her company right after getting back from Denmark. She now runs “Studio Skate”, a custom skateboard design company, and is now attending her final year of college. She I now entering another happy chapter in her life, with more ambition and inspiration than ever before. Paige is a passionate and talented person who also happens to be an artist.
