What Letter to Willy tells us…

Two scenes. One song. How both scenes tell us a lot in hidden details…

Letter to Willy… interesting title, no? Not “letter to Billy”, no, the “W” needed to be added to clue us in on how this is about Will.

Not just about Will, but about November 6, 1983.

To begin, let’s talk about both of these scenes. The first one is of Max in the episode Dear Billy. She’s seen at his grave reading her letter to a deceased William. She reads out her feelings and regrets.

The second scene is in the next episode The Nina Project. The song begins playing when Mike and Will catch each others’ eyes while digging and have a heart to heart on top of a car. During the heart to heart, Mike expresses frustration and regret.

Both scenes feature someone who has passed away and their headstone.

Both scenes feature characters dwell on the “what if”s.

Here’s where things get interesting…

Mike referencing someone giving a number… notice how both scenes here involve a car? In fact, it’s almost like we’re viewing the scene on the left from a different perspective (through the car) on the scene on the left. Don’t believe the callback here? Well…

Look at what Mike is holding. 7up. Yup. This is absolutely intentional.

It seems like to me that they’re showing us Mike’s guilt over what happened to Will that night. He has regrets. Possibly because Will actually did die. At least in some timeline.

A little hint to that here too. Associating the “last day of life” with “Mike Wheeler’s basement”…. Can’t really get more on the nose than that. Mike Wheeler’s basement… aka the last place Will was before he “vanished”?

As a writer, he likely wished he could explain himself through writing… in a letter… to Will. Perhaps hoping that an explanation could somehow prevent a tragedy from occurring?

This line makes me suspicious that there’s some sort of time loop 🔁 on the day of Will’s disappearance.

And of course… this all leads back to…

And of course, another possible Back to the Future reference.

For those unaware, Marty saves Doc’s life by writing him a letter and giving it to him in 1955… preventing his death in 1985

What I’m getting at is this: this letter is more significant than you might think. Yes, it is a love letter, but it also is what likely ends up saving Will’s life.

I went back and watched the intro scene of TWST, everyone knows the part.. Where Crowley's walking toward the Dark Mirror and we can hear his voice but we can't see him. In the very beginning. And he says the iconic "For me. For you. For them. The hour is late and time is scarce." Yeah that scene. Anyway, before that iconic line, when Crowley's talking to the Dark Mirror instead of Yu, he addresses a mysterious benefactor... I don't think it's the mirror itself. So my question is... Who is the benefactor? What have they given Crowley and why? Also, Crowley says, "show me the visage I seek"... I believe this is a reference to Yu, since it immediately switches to Crowley talking to us (Yu). All time loop theories aside (or not!) Does that mean he was expecting us (Yu) to arrive at NRC? Was it Crowley who summoned us (Yu) through the Dark Mirror?? Idk, thoughts???

another part to add, venti definitely doesnt like what istaroth is doing and would be trying to silently rebel by giving the winds names, personalities, etc and writing them all in the form of a poem (could survive irminsul wipes?) which is mentioned in the skyward atlas! as for how he managed to escape and find out the truth of what his mother was doing, maybe he ate a certain ‘forbidden’ fruit which would soon become his favourite for helping him figure everything out! (aka apples)

also to elaborate, the ad oblivione wouldnt create the time loops, istaroth would! the ad oblivione exists to, like aranaga said, crush dreams/living memories and make teyvat slowly become ‘domesticated’, so they won’t try to rebel (maybe the crushed dreams are used for visions and even the gnosis?)

alsoo i saw this theory about venti being very similar to snow white (i cant paste the link for some reason ushdndbs so heres screenshots) and the fact that hes gone to sleep thrice being istaroth trying to trap him and ensure the ad oblivione is complete, but he somehow gets away? i like to think zhongli gave him a sernitea pot that shields him from time’s wrath

this is more of a hc than theory - if it is a theory its a crack theory - but i had the thought spinning in my head like food in a microwave and it was starting to burn so here

i have this hc/theory abt the ad oblivione, time loops, istaroth and venti (ad oblivione is mentioned in the aranara quest) where istaroth created the ad oblivione by giving birth to the thousand winds - she is time itself while they are erosion, like the sun and its rays! - and let them experience everything in the original timeline, then afterwards she formed the thousand winds into the ad oblivione, creating the time loop, then repeating the cycle with new winds until the loops are complete (yk that note in fontaine that goes through all the calamities/loops? hyperborea, etc? yeah) and mond is the end which is why its so important

venti was a part of the original thousand winds and escaped when istaroth formed the ad oblivione, which is why that note in the thousand winds temple/nameless island is a thing (ill get the actual sources later, just getting thoughts out 😭) and also why he’s considered the prodigal son

reason i wrote this all is bc i was doing ‘research’ (doing my once in a blue moon scroll on twitter and looking at theories) and later saw this poem abt the brain organoids on tiktok and and ☹️
