Ya'll i want to write a Topgun Fanfic, based on the short story 'The Things They Carried," but I'm not quite sure what all of them would bring. chat I think Ice plays hockey and Mav went to a game with her friends to scout hot guys and Ice catches her eye. Mav goes instagram stalking and finds out that the incredibly hot hockey player she fell head over heels for was her academic rival and she loses her shit. She goes to school the next day and is fucking enraged, giving Ice all kinds of shit about every little thing. Ice has no clue why Mav is being so brutal all of the sudden, but it lowkey turns her on.

I think Ice knew, or at least had a feeling, that that was the last time he was going to see Mav so that’s why he held onto Mav a little tighter than necessary in that hug

Do you think Mav thought of Ice when he and Bradley marched through the snow-covered forest after being shot down? Do you think he thought of Ice as he felt the cold seep into his bones and the snow kiss his hair and the wind flush his face? Do you think he found the F-14, fully fueled and in near perfect condition, and thought of all the times Ice had gotten him out of a tight spot and back into the air? Do you think he flew the F-14 out to the open sea, hoping against hope there would be a familiar voice over comms, a second shadow on the glistening, deadly waves beneath him? Do you think he stood on deck of the aircraft carrier amidst a chaos of triumph and relief, and couldn't help but look for one particular face in the crowd?

“Danger! Your husband is calling! What did you do this time? Answer and you’re getting an earful! Twice. You’ll get it over the phone and again when you get home! However, if you don’t answer, it’ll be another reason for them to be annoyed with you!”
The surrounded Daggers all look at the phone with wide eyes, which Maverick had very deliberately left on the table to avoid accidentally placing it on the bar. Again.
“Maverick is married?” Coyote asks, turning to look at Rooster with a raised eyebrow. He simply shrugs and pulls a face, nods once to at least answer the question.
“To a man?” Hangman asks.
“Yep,” Rooster answers, jaw tight, hopes that Hangman isn’t going to start anything.
“Huh.”
The phone continues to scream out its warnings. Then Maverick is there, sweeping it up and answering, ignoring all the Daggers staring at him, eyes alight with combined glee and curiosity, who are now laughing uproariously at the pained expression on Maverick’s face. Everyone except Rooster, who is wincing.
“Maverick, why can I hear laughter?” Iceman asks, voice clear and Maverick grins, stares up at the glasses hanging from the ceiling.
“Uh. You know how I changed my ring tone for you?”
“Yes.”
“Well. I’m at the Hard Deck. Those reprobates you can hear laughing are the Daggers.”
“Hmm. I guess the fact you’re married is no longer secret, given that ringtone.”
“Hey. You think that ringtone is funny!”
“More when you’re in a meeting and everyone in that meeting knows who you’re married to.”
“Yeah. That is pretty funny. And they always let me answer for some reason.”
“It’s only happened twice Mav…”
“And it was very funny both times.”
“Hmm. Anyway, I was ringing to ask if you were coming home soon.”
“I just ordered another round of drinks…”
“I’m in bed naked.”
“Someone else can have my beer. See you soon.”
