A coat's kinda cool," when he sees Mutsuki is so funny to me. Bro is hunting for his former mentor to kill him and he's getting distracted by his handsome bf's coat like bro focus on the task at hand š

My mindless Tooru character rant at 2 AM yesterday
i feel like the entire point of tooruās character is that he deserves to be forgiven because he wasnāt straight up evil, he had his triggers and motivations +heās really fucked up, he doesnāt know what the right choice is. He is always dealing with internal struggles like his sense of self and morality. Is he a man or a woman, if should he keep lying, should he give up or keep moving forward for his goal? He doesnāt know what to do so he tried to take his own life after all he had done (also that he thinks he doesnāt deserve to live)
Like dude iām so happy they didnāt kill him off because it literally makes a point that fucked up and misunderstood characters CAN BE REDEEMED like how mentally ill people in society can improve and go on with their lives, however in the anime they got rid of all the context and his insanity just looks very abrupt i reslly hate how it is done
People want a reboot of tokyo ghoul because the anime didnāt do the manga art justice but i want a reboot just to see Tooru done right, his ending was so fucking stupid and was not properly addressed
i wish they showed how he was dealing with his identity and relationships, Not being fucking far away from the people who were once important to him. The problem with tooru and kaneki needed to have a fucking aftermath dude like what the fuck. I just donāt think it was done right. Despite kaneki being the MC and all that it just feels like he took the spot light. If Tooru was a big deal in the plot then let him be a big deal till the end
I donāt think anyone cares about this rant bye but Iāve never thought about a character this hard dude someone save me

This was a hypothesis I had back around the Mutsuki Saiko convo where I realized it wouldnāt be unrealistic for Mutsuki to not know what being trans is. But didnāt feel comfortable posting about being Ā as cis as... idk whats a good yardstick for cisness? Mel Gibson? Letās go with that.
Also thanks for the grammar lesson cause whenever I saw someone saying Ā Ā āa transgenderā It sounded physically wrong. Like all those express checkout signs that read ā15 items or lessāĀ
Educational Post About Mutsuki Tooru from Tokyo Ghoul and How He is a Trans Male
This post is meant to be an educational post about what being trans is from myself a trans male. I am in no way trying to call out or yell at people, I just want people to try seeing Mutsuki from a different perspective.
As many people know, being transgender is not something very often talked about and many people have never learned about it. This is especially true in a more conservative country like Japan where the vocabulary is not often known. As someone who took a while to realise I was trans because of my lack of education on trans issues when I was younger, I know how challenging it can to understand ones identity. I believe this is the case with Mutsuki. He doesnāt know how to directly describe his gender because he doesnāt have the words.
Iād like to start off by pointing out what he said to the CCG when he was agreeing to join. He had asked if he could ālive as boy because he was uncomfortable living as a female.ā This is a common way for trans people to describe how they feel about their gender when they donāt know what being trans is or that they can just say how they wish to identify. A similar phrase would be someone constantly wishing they were another gender because they donāt yet realise they can identify as that gender.
Also, some people might say that Mutsuki falls under the girl-pretending-to-be-a-boy trope that is common throughout manga and anime, however, there is a reason why I feel that Mutsuki does not fit this trope. An important part of the trope that is needed for it to work and make sense, is for the female character to have a specific/important/practical reason for pretending to be a boy. For example, Pidge from Voltron chose to pretend to be male so she could go to the garrison academy and not get kicked out. Another example is Mulan; she disguised herself as male so she could fight in the army where only men were allowed. Mutsuki on the other hand doesnāt have a reason like this. If he truly identified as female, he couldāve entered the CCG that way with no problem. He only joined as a male because he was uncomfortable with being female.
Moving on, this can also relate to his latest line saying, āI am almost embarrassingly female.ā Mutsuki isnāt saying that heās female but that heās embarrassed with being biologically seen as female. This can connect with sexual orientation, too, as I think he sees his love for Kaneki as feminine (as gay attractions are often seen) and he doesnāt want to be seen as such.
Lastly, Iād like to talk about Mutsukiās conversation with Saiko about her knowing heās a āgirl.ā Now, as I said at the beginning of this post, Mutsuki has no knowledge or education on being transgender. All he knows is that biologically heās been identified as female and up to the point of joining CCG, thatās what everyone says he is. Mutsuki doesnāt feel comfortable identifying as female, however, he has no other way of describing his biological makeup or secret as anything other than ābeing a girl.ā So, Mutsuki saying that Saiko found out heās a āgirlā is basically his way of saying that she knows heās transgender. Also, he doesnāt want anyone to know that because he wants to continue living as a male.
I hope that this post has been able to educate people somewhat and maybe make people think. As I know this will be a problem, Iām not looking to argue or debate with anyone so if you send me hateful or transphobic remarks they will be ignored and deleted and you will e blocked. HOWEVER: If you are truly curious and want to learn more about the trans community or what being trans is like feel free to send me questions.
And please remember to be respectful to people despite differences. Also quick PSA: the word tranny is a slur so please donāt use it to refer to Mutsuki or irl trans people. Also transgender is an adjective not a noun so please refrain from using terms like āa transgenderā or ātransgenders.ā Like come on guys, weāre not a separate species or anything. Anyway, thanks for reading this post if you did!
Day 6 (that should've been posted yesterday): Cosplaying

Furuta's Super Peace
To preface this, of course, this topic has been discussed by many in the fandom already. This is merely a collection of my thoughts after reading other's thoughts ! Also, this is my first Meta so please, go easy on me haha !
So I was having a discussion with @hamliet , what is Furuta after ? What are his seemingly incomprehensible motivations ? I think his end game is ultimately for everyone to die & that will lead to peace since obviously, there will be no one alive to fight. I believe he wants to bring onto others the hurt he's been subjected to, which he still hasn't come to terms with fully, given his reaction to Eto's "How does it feel to not be able to call your father, Father ?". He wants everyone else to feel just as meaningless as he's felt.
Through the people he manipulates, one can see exactly what he's trying to prove to them.
Why does Ui fight ? For the people he cares about. Well what's the point in fighting when you're eventually fighting against the very person you care most about ?
Why does Kaneki fight ? He'd say to protect everyone, but up until his conversation with Rize, it was to secure the feeling of being needed/loved by throwing yourself away for someone in some heroic act. In doing so, he abandoned his already faulty morals, & ended up putting everyone he cares about at risk of death. What, then, would he have to live for if Touka & the baby had died from the Bastards when saving them was the reason he ate the Oggai ?
What did Mutsuki fight for ? Sasaki & the life the Qs once had at the Chateau. But what's the point if getting Sasaki means killing the very family you want back at the Chateau ? Then if Kaneki came to & decided not to be with them, they'd have killed him too like they did with the Uta Clone.
What does even Furuta fight for ? Supposedly, to get Rize to be with him. But what's the point if you create a new Rize that will either be completely submissive and mindless slave made to kill (aka totally not capable of loving you Fruit & nothing like Garden Rize), or if she kills you on the spot ? (Not to mention how he tortured & used her old body as revenge, of course she wouldn't be okay with that) He'd rather be killed knowing he's set in motion everyone else's destruction, than to live peacefully & start a new life by himself. Otherwise, after he eliminated all the Washuu, he'd have left the CCG & done just that. V, which he was once a part of, would be free to do as they wish, & sure, the CCG may stand & continue slaying ghouls, but no one there would hunt him down, nor would he fear being killed by a ghoul, since he's more than capable of protecting himself. However, he realizes he can't truly have the one thing he's wanted from the start. Rize. So again, he feels like his life is meaningless.
Tokyo Ghoul explores the theme of love through many characters. Haise has questioned his ability to love if he's never received love. Since Haise=Kaneki=Furuta, the same should stand. He doesn't know how to love, he hasn't received it from birth, & so he's content with dying & doing so unloved like he's been his entire life.
Now, to connect it to the current events of TG:
Either he underestimated everyone's will to live while losing, or he's got something bigger planned to wipe them out for sure. I think it's all contingent on what Rize does, which is the reason this series started in the first place. It was because of Rize's actions that Kaneki specifically became a ghoul, her disregard for Furuta left him hell-bent on causing the closest thing to the apocalypse that Tokyo's ever seen, & her longing for freedom that ultimately & ironically led to her capture & containment for almost the entirety of both Part 1 & :re.
I believe, like the other proposed zombies, Rize will need to face Kaneki, but this time, she's the one who needs to learn. She needs to learn that to live fleeing the organization out to get you is not her destiny. Working with everyone to take down V will be in her best interest, so she can truly live freely. That the instant gratification of indulging yourself was an unhealthy way to deal with the trauma of being locked away her whole life up until that point. That the men she would make victims of for objectifying her like her own Father deserve to die is wrong.
Hopefully she will understand, & care about the pain she's caused. Since Kaneki doesn't harbour any ill will against her, he will be the one to get through to her that she can regain her agency, that she can be loved, & that she can be something more than a miracle killing machine, or objectified sex slave.
