I know Heisuke isn't a literal zombie but some kind of vampire, lol, but I plan to draw another character for the "Vampire" prompt and, since Heisuke is literally brought back to life as a monster that goes berserk and tries to eat humans, I think he counts as a metaphorical zombie, haha! 🧟♂️

I drew this in 2016 after watching Heisuke's Hakumyu play (Hakuouki), since the final battle against poor Sannan reminded me so much of Anakin and Obi-Wan's duel in Star Wars, lol! 😆🔥

I saw a post on tumblr earlier that said how Heisuke can never keep his cool with Chizuru. I feel like that's especially true in Yuugiroku.
I've already written +3k words of the new chapter of "A Friend Like You" (Spanish version; which I'll be translating into English after it's posted like I always do 👍), and I'm sure I would've been able to finish writing the whole thing today if it wasn't because my joints started hurting too much and I had to get some rest, ugh. 🙃

I'm surprised at how much I enjoy and how easy it's for me to write good old Sanosuke, haha, which I'm sure is a result of how much I adore him. 💖 Heisuke's wingman role fits him so well??? Sano has a mature and patient vibe that's great for smoothing things out between two teenagers who (at least for now) only know how to yell at each other when it comes to conflict resolution. 😂
I don't know, man, he deserves good things and I'm feeling pretty tempted to switch the current Sakamoto/Takayama Ume (secondary OC) pairing for the Sanosuke/Ume one since I still haven't posted any chapters featuring the former, lol. 👀 But I don't wanna give more spoilers! Yomi out! 🤸🏻♀️

I was today years old when I found out Heisuke has a proper character song as well....
I'd known about Okita's 牙月 (Fang Moon), and Saitou's 葉隠れの心 (Heart of a Samurai) for a while but... Heisuke has 北辰の星 (Star of the North) (or could be a reference to his sword style). (The songs are very late 2000s character songs, I'd say)
Hijikata (遠雷/Distant Thunder), Kazama (鬼火幻想/Illusion of Demon fire) and Sano (薄雲たなびく麓で/At the foot of the mountain shrouded in clouds) all have narrations on music, so those don't really count as songs.

Next year's Musical Hakuouki will be Heisuke! Main lead is Higuchi Yuuta, who's been Heisuke since SSL the stage Saitou Hajime route Shitan Hijikata hen!
Performances will be held in Tokyo in June!

⏳Journey to the Past: First artwork featuring Furukawa Chie (OC) and Toudou Heisuke that I made in 2016; a year before I started posting "A Friend Like You" (Hakuouki fanfic).
💡Fun Fact: Due to their similar hair color, many people thought that Heisuke's ponytail was actually Chie's and I ended up receiving multiple gift art of Chie sporting a ponytail added to her traditional hairstyle. 😂 This led me to make sure to color her hair with a different shade of brown than Heisuke's in future drawings, lol!
💡Fun Fact: While working on this ☝ my sister asked me "How is the Heisuke drawing coming along?" via text message and I replied "Amazing! 😎🎀" with this picture attached, lmao:
