I just want whoever read this that in my made up story, I feel like Jim kinda knew about his parents situation (got married to young, got him too young and a violent ending, I read somewhere that it was the story behind Jim's dad runaway) and doesn't want the same to happen between Ivy and him so it's kinda because of that trauma that he is not comfortable with romantic interaction like kiss and more, but he's VERY touch-starved so he loves hugs, holding hands, cuddle nap, hair touchy,...
And that's why, even if they're dating since they're 13yo, they got their first kiss (on the lips) at 16/17 (I'm not decided yet but I drew it I love it)
I consider this (Ivy apart tho) as a headcannon of mine, it's my first ever woOoW
If you're curious about Ivy, well when he asked her what she felt, she admitted finding it a bit frustrating but that won't stop her from loving him and a kiss or whatever can't be good if the other feels forced to do it and that she is willing to wait and considered/accepted not kissing or more and it's not a problem.
Just remember that Ivy is an orphan abandonned in a trashcan with only a blanket and no papers, so she has no idea when she was born. Her birthday was adjust to match her adoption and she's very aware of that.
That's probably the saddest thing I did – and I did a LOT.

like i saw a post that headcanon jim's love language is words of affirmation and honestly sounds very much into his character if u think about it cuz he just needs to know that u aren't gonna leave him like his dad did...he needs the reassurance

I recently wrote to myself that Jim needs to hear it but he himself has a hard time saying things like "I like/love you". To say "I like you" to Ivy took him two years help. Ivy understood it very early and always takes the time to say when he's a bit down "you're so important to me and to all the people around you shut the fuck up" and says she likes him every time she leaves him
Little exemple, he never told his best friend Satoru that he likes him. Never. Yet Satoru knows he does because of simple things he's the only one to do for him 🥺
And hugs are like- THE thing he can't help to do, now. For a moment he couldn't accept any kind of affection because he grew uncomfortable with showing it because of his father, but being close to Ivy that is sooo tactile kinda help him appreciate the idea of having someone to cuddle anytime he wants (even if he was very shy about it at first, awn)
