To the average player, Macross 2036 is decent enough for a shoot ‘em up, but fans of the Macross series will get much more out of it. The soundtrack is excellent, with many key tunes reproduced here very well, and the action is good fun. My main gripe is the lack of variety though, with each level having the same background graphics repeating over and over, even if they are nice to look at. But there are a few nice touches, faithful sampled explosion effects and great visual scenes, so definitely check it out.
