Urgh . My heart . 😭😭

SUNDAY SIX: The W Hypothesis Chapter 14

*due to career reasons I won’t have much time to update, but I’ll try my best to work on it*

The child in the painting was no more than a hundred days old, swathed in christening clothes of pale creamy yellow and cotton white, held in crook a woman’s arms, his father standing over them both.

There was nothing interesting at all about this family portrait, except that it belonged perfectly with the rest of the Holmes clan portraits and sculptures in the gallery.  And she. She didn’t.  Irene turned towards the matriarch next to her, who in another life, she might’ve referred to as family. “I suppose this is the part where you tell me to stay away from your son.”

Violet gave her a cold smile, cocking her head to the side. “No, of course not. I am a French woman; I know the ways of this world. Men have mistresses, so naturally some has to become the other woman. You must be used to that by now.”

Irene does not allow herself appear affronted, but those jade-green eyes cut through her nevertheless.

“Mycroft told me about what you were, before, and all the things you had done,” remarked Violet casually whilst examining her nail-bed with disinterest. “I’m impressed. Whether Sherlock choose to sleep in your bed or not is no business of mine, but between the sheets is where you will ever have him. I’m afraid there is no room for you on this wall, unfortunately. Abide by the rule, and there shall be no grievance between you and I.”

Violet padded her cheeks in that matronly yet patronizing manner, and turned on her heels with another cold, disarming smile.

“I’m not his whore,” called Irene after her, refusing to be schooled.

The older woman glanced across her shoulder and shrugged, “Be what you want, cherie, because you’ll never be his wife.”

I know this is an old one, but here’s my articulate take on it anyway:

And I'm all like:

Okay, I definitely ASPIRE to be a "True Fan" of Tom Hiddleston.  (Is that anything like Stan Lee's "True Believers?")  I really do - it would be me being my very best self.  It might make both Oprah Winfrey AND Tom Hiddleston proud.  Let's take a deeper look at the 'qualifications':

"If you respect his privacy."  I am currently respecting his privacy.  Geographic distance, time constraints and finances already take care of most of that.

"If you like his talent before everything else." Hmmm.  Better look up the word 'before' - and then decide which definition to use.  I am assuming that in this context, 'before' is a preposition, and I'm gonna go with the Mirriam-Webster definition stating, "preceding (someone or something) in order or in a series."  Let's face it, I noticed Tom's appearance first, then got to know & appreciate his talent - I think many Hiddlestoners have a similar experience.  If I am thinking in terms of the definition related to "hierarchy of importance," technically I still can’t say I fit the bill. I have to admit that since I saw his appearance first, that still ranks just slightly above everything else.  If he suddenly became much lower on society’s scale of hotness, I’m pretty sure I’d still like him.  He's not just a pretty face & hot bod - there's plenty of that out there by itself, but Tom's got it ALL.  Which leads to the following -

"If you appreciate his personality."  Heck, yeah.  However I can only appreciate what he chooses to reveal.  I think his public persona is as close to the real man that we're ever going to get, and I believe it is an honest persona - how else would he be?  The way he is with children, his responses in interviews, the laughter, the dancing, his good advice, his whole outlook - we could all go on forever on this one.

"If you love what he does and no matter his choices and his life." - Well now, I don’t think this is related to “true fandom” of anything at all.  I don’t always love what I do, and I don’t always love my choices and my life - but I am still one of MY biggest “true fans.”

I still believe I am a true fan.  Maybe these standards are impossibly high.  Maybe we should look at other things in life through a partiality of this lens.  Maybe I agree with thingsIdidn’tknowareerotic’s Theory of Latent Hotness.  Regardless, I fell down the rabbit hole of Hiddlestoning well over a year ago, and I’ve no reason to regret that happy, happy, serendipitous series of events.

May we all be so fortunate.

It says to "Reblog if you're a true fan of Tom Hiddleston."

If you respect his privacy.

If you like his talent before everything else.

If you appreciate his personality.

If you love what he does and no matter his choices and his life.
