Listening to Percy Part 2 after hits different when I know most of the pods Arthur and Percy jumped into.

Song of all time, to me

The siren song rings like a gong It turns your mind to gravy She'll have you drown in that locker down With Jones comma Davey Such pretty tones, you've never known Like angels plucking harp strings The only defence, just common sense Fatigue has made you hear things

The Kraken was attacking us Its tentacles surrounding The timbers broke, cap'n had a stoke Our troubles were compounding And just as we prayed to the sea Deliver us salvation We realised our heavy eyes Shared a group hallucination

It's all made up! It's in our heads! It's hard work trawling those sea beds! With the physical strain there's no surprise Your faculties get compromised

(FLEET, spoken: I'll wait outside.) (CLARA, spoken: Don't you dare.)

The helmsman who was wedded to A selkie from the fathoms His judgement scarred, he'd worked as hard As any man since Adam And when we spied a sea serpent's eyes We knew our doom awaited Until it clicked, we'd been too strict And likely dehydrated!

It's all made up! It's in our heads! It's hard work trawling those sea beds! With the burn of the rope and the frozen winds It's natural to be seeing things

Sleep hygiene Good diet These things keep monsters quiet New hammocks Less motion No nightmares on the ocean

Sleep hygiene (hey!) Good diet (hey!) These things keep monsters quiet (hey!) New hammocks (hey!) Less motion (hey!) No nightmares on the ocean (hey!)

(And the lady!)

It's all made up! It's in your heads! It's hard work trawling those sea beds! We toil for days, our attention frays I never knew my father…

(SAILOR, spoken: That's a… different sort of problem, Michael, I'm sorry, that's a different song.) (MICHAEL, spoken: Sorry…) (SAILOR, spoken: Nothing to apologise for Michael, you're among friends, and you're our only basso profundo)

Oh!

It's all made up! It's in our heads! It's hard work trawling those sea beds! With the moonless sky and the narwhal's cry It's natural to forget

It's all made up! It's in our heads! It's hard work trawling those sea beds! With the raging storm and the grog lukewarm It's simple to neglect

With the blinding sun and the dearth of fun You're under the gun to fish every tonne The work's never done, the truth can be spun It's a damned hard job trawling those sea

(Oh, er, (sigh))

Be-eds!

Have I got a podcast for YOU victoriocity is exactly that!

I suppose the big reason I prefer to draw a line between steampunk (i.e., taking modern ideas about what a high-tech society ought to look like and projecting them backwards onto an imagined 1890s) and Victorian retrofuturism (i.e., taking what people who actually lived in the 1890s imagined the year 2000 would look like and running with it) is because the second one is typically way more batshit than the first. Steampunk gets you giant robot spiders; Victorian retrofuturism gets you a habitable Lunar surface populated by anthropomorphic bat people. These are both very cool, but the latter has a certain something the former lacks.

Okay okay okay just finished High Vaultage and ..

I Liked It, I liked it! I was worried somewhere in the mid point -because this book is not good at action scenes- but it all worked out and of course my favorite part was the characters.

Clara and Fleet are perfect and I love them, and the book actually talking about how not okay fleet is is good! He needs it! And I also like how Clara is literally just better than fleet most of the time because fleet is running on nothing (and she's just cool like that). Clara is so good I love her.

Also Lester and Keller are great, always fun!

8/10 It's great! but I feel like I missed a lot of the jokes (I'm not british enough)
