Chapter 2 ->
“Let the sun kiss your skin softly.”

——————————— ᗢ ———————————
It was a sunny day. The sun kept shining in your eyes, and you had to shield yourself with your hands.
You held your hands out to the sky, as if touching it, but only the wind visits your hand. That is practically the sky, after all. Air. Wind. Moisture. You curl your fingers into a fist, firmly clenching it to perhaps capture the cool breeze, only to feel the warmth of your hand's skin against each other, making the cold fade away.
You end up letting your arm drop down to your side, and sigh. There was nothing better, truly, than soaking in a moment of calmness like this. Upon hearing footsteps though, you await what comes for you.
A familiar brunette appears in your view above, eradicating the sunshine and the bright blue sky. She looked down on you softly, your body laying restfully against the grass that moved along with the wind, but is flat underneath your back.
"I got us cakes," she says, sitting down beside you and putting the container down on the ground. You carefully prop yourself up with your elbows until you're sat up properly.
It was your favorite kind. Your lips turn up into a smile, and you grab the small fork while your legs settled into a criss-crossed position. Your hands reached to open the container, the corners clicking open.
The brunette watched you with amusement as you didn't hesitate to grab it. The bakery you loved was right near the park you're at, so it was the perfect time to go when it caught her eye. The man behind the counter had happily greeted her, knowing she's the partner to one of the patrons. The patron, is of course, you. But it was starting to become her new favorite bakery, too.
Wanda had also gotten a bag of warm freshly baked cookies, so she opted to unravel the top of the paper bag and take one, her cake sitting unopened next to yours.
You hum when the smell of the lovely cookies traveled to your nose, making you turn your head to her instead of your slice of cake. She was taking a bite of the cookie, the piece melting in her mouth.
Your hand leaves the fork in the cake container and goes to grab one for yourself, little crumpling noises making sound from the bag as it moved due to your hand.
While the both of you ate your delicacies, you soon space out far off in the distance of the park. Somewhere near there, someone sat at a bench with birds surrounding them and some seeds in their hand.
Beside the scene was another of a little golden retriever happily playing around with another dog, chasing each other around, and sometimes the two of them would stop, the husky looking dog teasing the other one by moving its paws forward, but not running again.
You soon stop focusing on those and turning your attention back to Wanda, but once you look at her, an irresistible smile grows on your face and you have to turn to your cake instead.
"What?" She asks, a breath of a laugh coming through the word. Wanda wondered why you would turn away so quickly. She knew she could make you blush easily, but she hasn't even said or done anything.
"Nothing, you just have some crumbs near your mouth." You shook your head, taking a spoonful of your cake to put in your mouth and look at her once more.
"Oh." Her hand goes up to wipe it off her face, but she went to the wrong side. Her eyes focused on you, visibly struggling to find it because she knows it's not gone due to simply your smile growing.
"No, the other side." You say, helping her. She gets it and looks at you expectantly. You nod, and put a thumbs up, making her reflect your smile.
"You got it." You finish off the last of your cake, and pop the lid back on. Soon your attention drifts off to the sky and the gold shining through the clouds. Wanda follows, and sees the sun behind you, making you glow like an angel.
"We should go to the lake. We can take some beautiful pictures there." She said, tiltng her head slightly, and you see her brunette hair starting to soak in the sunlight. Your eyes brightened at the sentence though, and a soft gasp comes from you.
"Yes! We should." Her lips rise up into a smile once more, and she grabs the bag of cookies before going to stand up. You follow along with your empty container and hers that still had a cake.
You turn to walk with her towards the nearby lake. Since the sunset was only just starting, you had more than enough time to arrive there. A cool breeze goes by, visiting your skins and your hairs. The water that started to come into your view properly, too, was moving with the wind.
The trees shaped the lake beautifully and openly. Not many people were around, especially because nighttime is soon coming around. But it made it all the more better.
Wanda took out her phone from her pocket and started taking some pictures. You stood by, but placed down the containers at a nearby bench and kneeled down to grab a couple small rocks to keep in the palm of your hand.
A thought to take some pictures, too, crossed your mind, but with the present reason of having forgotten to bring your camera, you decided against it.
You stood up and held only one rock in the other hand, throwing it on the water. It jumped lightly against it and splashed, until it dropped to below the water. Wanda turns her phone to you and you look at her.
"Nooo, don't take pictures of me! Look at the lake!" You point your finger towards it before throwing another rock. She moved her phone along the movement, and you assumed she was not just taking pictures, but videos. That rock went farther than the previous one.
"But you're more beautiful than the lake or the sunset!" She says, and you shake your head with a tinge of blush on your face. Once she was done, she walked closer to you with a smile and put her hand out.
You gave her the rest of the rocks in your hand except for one and she threw them. It only jumped twice and you try your hardest not to laugh or smile too wide.
"Okay, that was only my warmup." She says, looking at you with a warning before preparing for another throw. You only hum in response, knowing that it was an obvious excuse.
Wanda throws another, and it does skip farther, before it splashed entirely and disappeared into the water. The clouds had melted into the skies by now, and the last rock you had, you put into one of your pockets.
"I think that one jumped more than yours." You grabbed the cakes and turned away from the lake, now starting to walk to, perhaps, the car. The brunette was behind you anyways though, the place seemed to get darker, with the sun sinking down in the horizon.
"Nope, it did not." You say softly, glancing at her before focusing on the path towards the car once more. She raised her eyebrows at you. To be honest, the two of you got the same amount of jumps in the water with the rocks.
"Sure it did." She adds, wanting to be right. You were getting closer to the car, and she brought out her keys from her pocket, unlocking the car.
"Nope." You repeat, a playful smile on your face when she managed took a look at it at from her driver side just through the windows. She shakes her head with a smile of her own.
You pull the door handle and it opens. You sit in the passenger's side and close the door, your next move being to click the seatbelt on. Wanda had already done the same, and she's starting the engine.
The car powers up and the screens light on. She makes sure to adjust the ac temperature before moving from off the parking spot and into the main road slowly and carefully.
As the truck tires hit the road, the quiet humming of the car is added with the sound of concrete and small pebbles hitting the tires. You look out the window and watch the other cars pass by. There's people on the side of the street.
A florist, holding a boquet of flowers ready to go in a vase. Or perhaps a bought gift, as they're heading for their bicycle. The warm sunlight shone down on the florist, making out a pretty scene. Oh, dear, moments like these filled your heart with life.
Wanda looks at you softly for a second, seeing you spaced out the window. Her hand goes up to turn on the radio, finding a channel that holds good music. She focuses back on the road once she's gotten it.
The songs were calm. Perhaps even encapturing the entire feeling of today. Trees passed by. Streetlights passed by. The lights are on already, and the moon's showing up. Birds are retreating back to their houses, just as you are currently doing.
You look over to your other side, where Wanda sat, her fingers drumming, and her head nodding along the rhythm of the music. She was...so, so pretty. The car comes to a gentle stop, but you hadn't arrived just yet, only at a red light.
"I can see you staring," she says quietly with her eyes focused on the road. Her foot pushed on the pedal once more when the light turned green, and she went to make a turn.
"It's hard not to," you respond, saying only the truth. She glanced at you again, the corners of her lips raising. Buildings went by in her own window.
That is, until she goes into the driveway of your shared house. The car stops and Wanda slides her seatbelt off along with you. She turns the engine off, and the music turns into a quiet silence.
You grab the cookies and cake then open the door, getting out. She locked the car by the time the both of you had closed the doors, and she had grabbed all the items inside.
With the keys in her hands already retrieved from her pockets, she walks to the front door and inserts the key, unlocking it. You were waiting behind her on the porch, and she enters first with you at her back.
The lights in the house were flicked on by Wanda and she goes back to the front to close the door, considering your hands were full. You got your shoes off and went to place the small desserts in your hand onto the kitchen island.
When you looked behind you, the brunette was choosing a vinyl from her shelf to play, her face concentrated. She chooses one right as you went to sit on the couch, her hand carefully grabbing the disc out its sleeve to gently put on the turntable.
She plays the record and slowly drops the needle down on the vinyl, it eventually playing out a soft, mellow tune, one perfect for dancing.
When you see her walking towards you, you expected nothing more or less than an offer. You smile once she holds her hand out for you, a way to ask you to dance. You hesitate, but you gently take her hand, your body getting pulled up with your heart's answer.
She puts her hands around your waist and starts swaying gently to the music, while you settled with your head on her shoulder, your mind wandering with the thoughts of everything.
Outside, sounds of rainfall starts pattering down. The windows filled with drops of it all, but with the curtains closed you couldn't. Although the noise made it clear that it wasn't the record player, or anything else.
You looked up at Wanda, and you can see her gazing back down at you, her eyes meeting yours softly. A small smile goes on her face, the two of you ever so lost in the love you held.
She whispers softly, "I love you," and your heart did leaps in your chest. You've been together for a while, but she's never said such a sentence until this very moment. It came as a surprise.
"I love you, too." You lean back slightly to look at her more, and you can physically see the happiness that fills her face.

"I want to do all the things for you, that you thought no one ever would."

——————————— ᗢ ———————————
The morning came around with the wind gently visiting the windchimes of other houses, and birds easily flying around with all their freedom and grace.
You stir in your sleep, the warmthness of the sunlight from the windows easily signalling your mind to wake up. But the cold sheets that greet you say otherwise. Your eyebrows furrow as you blink away the sleep. You move to put your head up and look at the empty spot beside you, along with your hand trying to find another. But all that came next was nothing but another empty space.
A quiet sigh comes from your mouth. You give up trying to find another body and instead lay against the bed deflatedly with your eyes closed. It was too early to get up so soon. You weren't going to. Right?
But you open your eyes once more, looking at the missing presence of a certain someone. It urged your body to get up. With a long stretch, you eventually come to a sitting position. She was definitely not in the bathroom. It was quiet, and the lights are off.
You turn to the edge of the bed, letting your legs touch the floor and your hands pushing down on the bed sheets. Begrudgingly, you stand up, going to search for the brunette you always see in the morning.
At the small sound of clatter you hear somewhere out the room, you now turn your head towards it and quickly go for the door that was open just a crack.
Soon, after making your way to the living room and finding nothing, but getting to the kitchen, you see a figure with a green jacket moving smoothly after closing the fridge. You smile and sit down on the barstool. There she was.
"What're you doing?" You ask, resting your arms on the kitchen island and watching her. There was nothing on the stove, or the counters, making you all the more curious as to what she was up to.
"Oh! Y/N." Wanda jumped, turning around to see you. She relaxed when she saw you, sitting with your slightly messy hair from your sleep. "Good morning. I'm about to go to the store to get some stuff. You want anything?"
"Sorry. Um, no, probably not. Would you mind picking up a hot chocolate on the way though?" You apologise, letting out a small laugh with your words, having not expected that she would be surprised at your sudden presence. But you know the grocery store is somewhere near your usual café spot, and so you follow along with that.
"Of course." Wanda said, a smile going on her face as she goes to the front door, grabbing her shoes from the shoe rack along with her socks.
"Can I come with you, or...?" Your eyes and head move along with her trail, with soon enough, your entire body turning on the island chair.
"You can't, I'm sorry милая (sweetheart). I have work soon, so I'll be rushing." She wears her socks and gets her shoes on, tying the shoelaces carefully. Your eyebrows raise at the sentence, realising she was out of bed all ready with a jacket because she had work today.
"Oh, okay. I could get the groceries if you'd like, while you go to work?" You suggest, not wanting her to stress too much about it when you have your own free time and car.
"That...is a great idea. Are you okay with that? I know you just woke up." She asks, having finished putting her shoes on and checking her pockets for her phone and keys, to which her hand eventually goes up to point at you for a second as a small gesture.
"Yeah. Yeah, it's fine. You go on ahead to work and relax instead of rushing." You waved your own hand, nodding your head and giving her a reassuring smile. Relief might have flowed through her body when she looks up at you, mirroring your face.
"Alright. I'll see you when I get back home." She says, opening the door and walking outside with her eyes on you as she spoke.
"Okay. See you, and I love you!" You shout, in case she wouldn't have heard the last few words. She had almost closed the door, but opens it again for a bit to reply.
"Love you, too!" She says, speaking in a higher volume considering she was already outside. She closes the door by the time her reply had finished coming out.
Your heart warmed, and you stand up, using your hands to push up from the kitchen island and off the chair. You go back to the bedroom to take a quick shower, the water waking you up a bit more. Once you were out, you got ready to go on your way, wearing your chosen clothing and making sure your phone was in your pocket.
You go out to the living room, walking over to a nearby small table to grab your car keys. After storing them safely in your other free pocket of your jeans, the same as Wanda had done, you then go out the house, locking the door.
Instantly, the wind outside gently meets your face, but the leaves of the trees move a little too much for it to be simply a nice breeze. You click the unlock button, and the familiar sound of the car softly beeping reached your ears.
As you make your way to the car, you look around, seeing birds visiting trees and the rooftops of houses. The sky being gray didn't miss your eyes, but when you saw the drip of the rain on your car, you assumed it had rained while you were asleep.
The car door easily opens when your hand pulls on the handle. You sat in the driver's seat and shut the door, turning on the engine. The car rattles slightly, screens light up, and the engine hums.
After checking the road was clear, you slowly back out the driveway and start your journey to first, the café you love.
Buildings passed by, the trees, and soon enough accompanied with the park you and Wanda went to recently. Every part of this city reminded you of a certain memory. It was a stranger to you just a few months ago, but with you and Wanda's decision to move here, it started to become something familiar. Something close to your heart. It feels like home.
You make a turn to go to another road, one full of stores and small restaurants, even boutiques. But your only target was the small café sat just at the edge of everything else. Your eyes land on one of the many empty parking spots, and you carefully and slowly drive your way into one, parking the car.
After checking you were completely in the borders, you get out your car once the roads were clear. You make your way to the cozily decorated place, chairs and tables neatly placed. It was considerably empty, seeing as today was a weekday. But you knew by lunch hour, it'll be nearly as lively as the many other cafés.
You enter the shop, going up to the counter. Your eyes look up at the menu, reading the words written. Technically, you didn't need to, with how many times you've gone here, but neither of the staff members were at the cash register.
When one comes, up they greet you simply, asking what you'd like. They dusted their hands on their apron, having finished cleaning a coffee machine.
"A hot chocolate, please. With a to-go waffle." You say, your order simple. You were going to the grocery store anyway.
"Is that all?" They ask with a small smile after tapping the screen near the cash register and letting your orders count to a total price.
"Yep," you say with a smile, having not recognised the employee. You guessed it's a part-timer who got the job just recently.
You give them the cash to pay for the order. They take it and store it in the cash register, to which the receipt soon comes out. The employee rips it off and gives it to you
"It'll be ready in 10 minutes." Once that was done, they turn to make a hot chocolate for you and prepare a waffle. You wait patiently at the counter. After a few seconds you look around the café.
There were three tables occupied. One, with a guy busily working away on his laptop and eyes focused, a mug of coffee beside him. You hoped that doesn't spill, from how close it was to the device.
The other table held a person, student perhaps, writing down things in a notebook. You guessed they were doing homework. A plate with a half eaten pastry and a cup of tea was there. A common scene you would always see whenever you walked in.
But then you look to the last table that had someone, and see a familiar face. She's a blonde, brown eyes...leather jacket. It was Carol. Carol Danvers.
"Carol! Hi?" You say, with happiness at the sight of her after so long of not seeing her, but also a questionable tone coming out. She isn't usually here.
Still, she looks up at you, having recognised the sound of your voice, she wasn't surprised, but did have her eyebrows raised.
"Hey, Y/N." She said casually, as she did when you would meet her at the near bar. You walk to her table and away from the counter, knowing it'll be fine considering you had already ordered.
"What are you doing here?" You question while sitting down across from her, still confused at the fact that she was even here.
"I thought I'd hang here, since it's actually a good place. I was going to go do some training rounds, but it got cancelled," she said with a shrug. You blink, and your mind had to register her words for a bit from surprise before you realised she was serious. You'd always offer her to breakfast or lunch whenever Wanda couldn't just to catch up, but she'd always deny.
"I also got kicked from the bar, but then I saw this place," she said, once again, so naturally. Your eyes widen and your mouth moved panickly to make up a response through your shock.
"What? How?" You manage to say. The blonde pursed her lips and you raised your eyebrows.
"I may or may not have punched a drunk guy who tried to flirt with me..." she trails off, making it almost sound like the whole story was in that one sentence, and well, you almost hoped it was.
"Well, if he was that bad, he deserved it." You shrug, resting your arms on the table and leaning as you got into the conversation with her.
"I also knocked him out cold and then he threatened to sue for assault, so the bar kicked both of us out to break us apart," she says, pausing her movements before rolling her eyes. Her thoughts were that he should have forgotten his memories from how drunk he was.
"Oh my god," you whisper under your breath. You knew that must've hurt from having seen a crate of heavy gear getting picked up by her easily before just at her air force base. It was no surprise he'd be mad.
"They better still let you in after today. If not, we're gonna have to find another bar." You lean back. There were still no other customers, and it seems another worker had clocked in. Lunch hour is ticking in soon though, according to the small clock on the wall.
"Hey, I only got kicked out, not banned!" She exclaimed, making you giggle. The both of you have missed ranting on about everything and nothing.
The employee comes back with your cup of hot chocolate and a paper bag of a fresh warm two piece waffle, but notices you aren't at the counter. Their eyes search the place until they see you.
"Order of hot choc and waffles!" Both you and Carol's gaze traveled over to the counter. Although, yours were more alerted.
"That's yours," she says, guessing the order you had. Although she already knew you loved waffles and that there was no other recent people who's gone to take an order other than you.
"I'll talk to you more next time," you say quickly, getting up from the seat and going to walk up to the front counter, the part-timer waiting patiently. They carefully give your order, making sure you held your hot chocolate properly.
"Thank you." You say with a smile, your hands warming up from it quickly from the temperature. You turn to go to the entrance, now the next location being the grocery store.
"See you, Y/N." The blonde says, resting her own arms on the table now as she watched you move and open the door with your back. Lucky the door was push from the inside, and not pull. Perhaps they had thought about it, or it was just something fortunate to have.
"See you!" You turn your body to wave a little with three fingers, considering your hands were full. Carol tries to resist a smile and shakes her head, returning to her own meal.
You walk back to the car, and when you got there, you look down at your hands before decidedly transferring the hot chocolate with your waffle hand, seeing as you still had more fingers on that one. You could've done it earlier, but oh well.
After you open the car door and get in, you set down your drink in the cupholder and put your waffle in the middle of the car. Once more, you turn the engine on, but before you drive, you drink your hot chocolate. The warmth runs down your throat, setting a comfortable feeling in your bones and letting your muscles relax a little more.
You put your drink back down and set your hands on the steering wheel instead. Just when you were about to start driving to get out of the parking spot though, you look up and see the flower shop that's usually nearby.
You think about it for a moment before pulling on the handle and getting out the car once more, going over to the shop. There was a bunch of fresh flowers, beautifully put together at the front and in the place.
The owner was fixing up a bouquet, while you stared at the smallest vase that held hand-picked daisies. It wasn't a lot, but enough for a small glass vase.
The owner turns to look at you, a smile under his small mustache. His face was friendly and he was pretty old. You hadn't met him all that much, just a few visits, but you knew he was one of the kindest souls.
"That was picked up just this morning. The freshest one out of all of these." He nods towards the rest of the flowers, his hat moving along with it. Your teeth caught the inside of your mouth for a second as you looked back at the daisies.
"I think I'll take it." You tilt your head, going closer to brush your fingers against the petals. They were as softer than any flower you've touched before.
"For yourself, or a lover?" He asks, and you look at him, pulling your hand back slowly. He expects the latter anyway, but he was curious, as most would pick the others.
"Oh, um. For my girlfriend." You blush, having not used the word while speaking to a stranger in a while. He gently picks up the daisies, one of his hands holding them while the other went to grab something to wrap around their stems and keep them together.
"Well, then, she is very lucky to have someone thoughtful like you." He says, carefully making sure it was tight enough to not have the flowers fall out.
"And picking out a perfect choice." He looks back up at you, and you know he meant that it was rare to have someone pick one so small for a gift, other than for themselves.
"Don't tell anyone, but the smallest flowers always seem to brighten the room more than the bigger ones, even though they don't last long." He winks, making you giggle. The florist hands you the daisies and you take it, exchanging it with cash.
"Thank you for the flowers, mister!" You say, walking away to your car as you looked at him. He smiles and waves to you, making you wave back.
You arrive back at your car while he continued taking care of his other flowers. You get into the seat once more, now finally going on your way after setting down the daisies in the seat next to you. You reverse a little to then go forward and get back on the main road, driving towards the grocery store.
It wasn't a long drive, seeing as you were already close. After a few minutes of driving ahead, you soon arrive. You unclick your seatbelt and turn off the engine, grabbing your bag of waffles before you go. The car locks when you shut the door and hover your hand in the handle.
You enter the grocery store with a shopping cart, having gotten one that wasn't too rattly. As you go through each aisle, you pick out some things you remember off the top of your head that you needed back home when you checked.
Every now and then, you take a bite of your waffle, not wanting to eat it when it ends up getting cold. Somewhere along the way of stocking up, you notice a child watching you eat your waffle. You try your best to ignore the kid's stare, and go forward with your cart.
The mom was off looking at the different types of yogurts that was available in the cold area. You definitely weren't giving your waffle to a child or offering it. Nope. Eventually, you made it out the aisle and you let out a breath of relief. The stare you felt was gone.
As you were still in the cold area though, you chose to bring out your phone, not remembering a certain something. You click on Wanda's contact and message her.
do we need any sausages?
12:18 PM Today
You ask her, hoping she responds soon, considering you were about to be done with getting everything. Your eyes linger on the sausages. You remember still having a lot of them in the freezer, but that might be your mind messing with you.
Oh, well. You can just come back here if you needed to. You finish the last of your waffle and scrunch up the paper bag to drive the cart easier. You check your phone as you go, and you haven't gotten a reply yet still.
You walk through the last of all the aisles, and having forgotten about the message from the amount of time you spent looking at everything, you went to line up for the cash register.
Right as the person in front of you was done and you had started loading items on the conveyor belt, your phone buzzes with a notification. You grab it out and look at the message. Finally. Wait. It's been 20 minutes? Maybe she was busy.
We ran out a few days ago, so do get some please
12:46 PM Today
At the reply, you tell the cashier to wait as they scan the rest of your items. You quickly ran to the frozen section to search for sausages. You find them in record speed and hold them tightly as you made your way back, the food cold in your hands.
Really, you should've just taken it anyway just in case, but she did reply minutes later. You get done putting the groceries on the counter, and you wait as the cashier loads up the bags and lets you swipe your card.
After all that was done, you store your card back in your wallet and grab the plastic bags filled with food, walking back out to your car. Your phone came up with another notification, but you first put the bags in your trunk and close it.
You get settled in the car and check your phone, seeing another text from Wanda.
I'll be getting home late. sleep first if you need to later ❤️
1:00 PM Today
At that, your shoulders slump slightly. But you try to understand, and dismiss it.
okay. I miss you :(
get home safe <3
Read at 1:01 PM
You turn off your phone and set it down on the side. With the seatbelt clicked in, you drove back home, the sun still high in the sky amongst the clouds.
The silence kept your mind going too much, so you put on some music and let it distract you away from everything. You try your best to not space out, and focus on the roads. A sip of your drink is taken every now and then at the red lights, although there weren't many.
Minutes later you finally arrive. It somehow felt longer than the time you spent driving to the café and the grocery store, but maybe that was because all your aim was this time, was just to get home.
You get out the car and turn off the engine, remembering to unlock the front door of the house and opening it first. You then open the trunk to grab the plastic bags, easily going in the house with the open door. Your hands held them tightly as you put them on the kitchen island, making sure nothing fragile fell.
You go back to the car and grab your hot chocolate that...wasn't really hot anymore and walk into the house after shutting the trunk, the doors, and locking the car.
The last thing to do was close the front door of the house. Or well, second last. Now you needed to grab everything out the bags and organize. It's a tedious task, but you manage to do it slowly but surely.
The time was now 1:58 PM. It was going to be a long rest of your day if your morning already felt like an entire day. You had changed into a sweatshirt, perhaps even Wanda's, just to warm yourself up
You sigh and grab a book, laying down on the couch to hopefully pass by the time. Soon later though, with the air being cold in the room and the peaceful quietness, you end up taking a nap instead, being unable to focus on the book all that much.
And now it was 3:54 PM. You had woken up and the rest of the day went by the same, coziness and laying around. With some boredom, you decide to turn the tv on, scrolling on the phone having been uninteresting.
Not having work at the moment is fun, but it would be more fun if someone was there with you. You would spend some time doing your hobbies here and there, but it didn't help much. The tv had you somewhat focused though.
Soon enough, the time reached 7:28 pm. Which was the time Wanda would assumingly come home, seeing as she said she'll be late. But you yawn as you curl up on the couch, watching one of your favorite tv shows as you waited.
Your eyes were getting heavy, that much was obvious. But you try your hardest to not sleep once more. You know it'll turn into more than a nap with the sun having gone down.
While the scenes played on the tv screen, and voices talked from the show, you still somehow, manage to notice the sound of a car engine humming nearby and wheels rolling on gravel for a second or two.
You perk up a bit, and you look at the windows that were now almost pretty much pitch black. But you don't miss the light gleaming on a part of it.
You muster up some energy withn you and you got up from the couch, going towards the door. Sounds of keys rattling could be heard, and you unlock the door, then pull the handle down to open it. Behind, reveals that familiar brunette you love, standing in the porch light with a surprised face at seeing you.
Her eyebrows furrowed before she smiles, "Well, hi," she said, giggling slightly. She goes into the house with your quick greeting to which she didn't even get time to put her keys in the keyhole at all.
"Hi," you say, closing the door and locking it for safety. You smile and walk back to the couch, sitting back down while she kicked her shoes off and follow you.
"You didn't have to wait up for me." She stands by the couch, looking at you and seeing that you've got a show set up on the tv. She guesses that you've been keepin yourself occupied with it.
"I know, but I wanted to," you say quietly, leaning your head back on the couch and tilting it slightly, glancing at her. Her green eyes could shoot your heart with love and at the same time hold a somewhat passion in them.
"I got you donuts." She moves her hand up, holding a bag of donuts in it. Your eyes travel to it, and your face radiated joy when you see it. She sits down next to you and give you the donuts.
"I'm sorry I'm late," she apologises, snuggling close to you while wrapping her arms around your body. Her warmth quickly making you feel content and glad that she was home safely.
She slips her hand under your sweatshirt to lay it gently against your skin, and then going to lay a kiss on your cheek. Her hand was warm, and tickled you slightly, but it was comforting just as any other touch she'd ever give you.
"It's okay," you say, leaning your head against her shoulder. You're quiet for a bit before you remember something.
"I got you some flowers." You leaned forward to grab the small vase that contains the daisies, then going back to be close with her once more. Her lips were parted in surprise. "No, you didn't."
"That's so sweet of you. Thank you." She smiles, taking it in her hands. Her fingers gently touch the soft petals, and her eyes look softly at the little daisies.
You smile along with her, leaning against her as you watch her.

"but are your words true to your soul?"

——————————— ᗢ ———————————
-- - 5 days later...
You were sat at the reading space in your bedroom, holding a warm mug filled with tea. The window was open just slightly, letting air in. The sun was going down, and the sky was turning into a shade of blue, holding little of any orange.
You sigh and check your phone, the time showing 6:58 PM, but there were no new notifications.
You unlock your phone and go to your messages, looking at the texts you've sent Wanda. Not a single response yet. You brushed it off as her being busy, but now you were getting worried.
After a few seconds, the bubble of the dots come up. Although late, you now see a gray message than just your own blue one.
I stole one of your hoodies :)
it's one of your favorites, so I just thought

Your eyebrows furrow as your eyes go over the words again, no other ones going along with it, and the dots had disappeared when the message sent. Had you annoyed her? You couldn't have. She was probably just driving and didn't have time to type more. Right?
You turn off your phone and look back at the window. The streetlights had turned on, illuminating the streets and trees nearby. Your eyes flicker down to your mug though, watching the drink make small riptides with the smallest movements you did.
You take another sip and finish off your tea, letting the warm liquid run down your throat before moving to stand up, the soft seat meeting your skin as you push off it.
The bedroom has a cozy atmosphere, the dim lights keeping the place dark, but still well lit. You don't stay for any longer though, with your path leading towards the kitchen.
You put your empty mug in the sink, but clean it with the dish soap and washing it off, to then putting it on the drying rack, having decided to keep the sink empty.
You rest your arms on the kitchen counter, a yawn escaping your mouth and your eyes water up, leading to the smallest tear leaving them. Your elbow replaces your sleeves on the counter instead, your hands moving to run themselves over your face and covering it. You move your fingers to wipe your stained cheeks.
After doing so, one palm of your hand held your jaw, the other one drifting down to rest on the counter once more. You stare at the dark kitchen wall, hoping time would pass by quicker.
A key was inserted in the front door. You heard it clearly echoing through the large room with the quiet silence. You turn to look, and it opens. A brunette walks through the entrance, but you don't move. You just watch.
She closes the door and turn the lock, then takes off her shoes and her jacket. She takes notice of your presence when she looks up, but not much of a smile went on her face. Bad day, perhaps.
"Hey. I came home on time." She says, her jacket hanging on her shoulder as she puts her hand in her pockets and walk closer to you.
"Hi." You say, your response short while you turned around completely and leaned back on the counter. She purses her lips and looks down, remembering she didn't get anything for you on the way, so all her hands were available to do was hide in her pockets, not knowing what to do with them.
You notice that, and you continue talking, not wanting an awkward silence to fall upon the two of you.
"I uh, didn't make anything for dinner. But we can order take-out or something if you'd like." You raise your eyebrows in question with your offer, and she looks back up at you.
"Oh, that's alright. I already ate on the way here," she says, with a gentle shake of her head. Your heart felt like it fell just a little, but something stopped it just inches before it hit the ground.
"Are you hungry though? We can order some either way," she asks, worrying your needs haven't been met yet while hers, has.
"No. No, it's fine, I had a sandwich earlier." You give her a small smile. Her attention drifts off to a blank space in the room, her head moving to nod, but her eyes not once going to yours, only focused on the wall behind you.
"I'm gonna go take a shower." She points to the bedroom with her thumb, her feet taking her away to clear herself from the living room.
You stand there for a second, shifting your body and contemplating a decision before pushing off the counter, the cold marble meeting the skin of your hands. You follow her once she's already in the bathroom, knowing the conversation was awkward enough.
You make your way across the room, going to the window to close it along with the blinds. Once that was done, you walk to the bed, the soft mattress dipping with your body as you sat on it.
The sounds of the shower could be heard even from outside the bathroom. You didn't mind it much and grabbed the tv remote, deciding to put something on.
You scroll through the lists of films and end up going with a rom-com Wanda loves. You got comfortable in bed, pulling up the blanket for warmth.
You didn't notice through the laughs in the show and talking, but the running water had stopped for a while, and the bathroom door opened with Wanda wearing her pajamas.
You look at her, and see her eyes focused on the tv screen, a smile raising on her lips before she saw you on the bed.
"You're playing my show," she said, as another funny scene plays and laughter erupts in the audience within the tv. You try your best not to smile too hard in making her face brighten up a bit.
"Yes, now get in bed and cuddle with me." You open up your arms, turning on your side and pouting. Wanda shakes her head with a smile and walks to the bed, sitting down next to you and shuffling closer until your bodies touch.
She pulls the covers up her body as you did earlier, and you help her, of course, not being a blanket hogger. You lean into her, your eyes focusing back on the tv screen.
She shifts until she's comfortable and then puts one of her arms around your back, the other one at your front, going around your waist. You look up, and she was focused on the show. Her heartbeat can be heard thumping against her chest with how close you were.
Your legs was tangled with hers, and she held you closely. Eventually, she looks down on you, her green eyes shining even within the dim lighting. She brushes her finger against your cheek, and you know you can't ever resist her.
Your gaze travels back up to her, and her eyes searched your eyes for something. What? You didn't know. But a certain sadness swirled in her pupils, you can see it.
"I'm sorry I've been so busy lately," she whispers, her hand dropping back down to rest on your waist. You snuggle closer to her, one side of your cheek against her shoulder.
"It's okay. I just wish work would take it easy on you." Your hand goes up, your fingers fidgeting with the fabric of her shirt. She keeps watch on you, her lips tucked in as she thinks of something in her mind.
"I have an idea." You pause your movement and curiously look at her, wondering what's to come. She takes a gentle breath before continuing.
"Do you wanna go to the beach tomorrow?" She offers you, and your eyes gleamed with happiness. Her lips raise up slightly face when she sees you brighten up.
"Yeah! I'd love to." You say, your voice filled with genuine excitement, having missed spending time with her. Her smile grows and she turns back to the tv.
The rest of the night, you spent in each other's embrace. You were the first to go to sleep peacefully, and Wanda had turned off the tv, following you along.
In the morning, both you and Wanda are sleeping soundly, the blanket and her arms still around you are keeping you warm.
The only movement was of the breathing of two bodies. That was, until you slowly stir, your mind awakening to the sun slowly brightening the skies. Your eyes slowly open, sleep invading your vision, blurring it.
You blink it away and move to rub your eye with a single finger just for a second before yawning, turning to the still sleeping brunette beside you.
It was the first time in a while she was there in bed with you while it was the morning, with her being so busy lately. You take the moment to indulge in being so close to her, in her arms, safe again.
Your fingers trace some meaningless patterns near her neckline, your head resting against her shoulder.
It didn't take long for her to soon wake up, just minutes later. You pause your movements, looking at how her eyelids slowly open, her eyes taking in the scene around her and registering that it was now morning.
She notices the touch of your finger on her skin along with your own pair of eyes, making her glance down.
"Morning, детка," she whispers, her morning voice only reaching your ears and not even the walls due to her saying it under her breath.
"Morning," you reply softly, continuing your hand's movement. Her lips raise up slightly and she closes her eyes, her arms releasing their hold on you to stretch for a moment before leaning her head closer to yours.
"You excited for today?" You ask, your eyes on hers. She goes to look at you for a second before replying.
"Of course I am." She said, her tongue going out slightly to rid of the dryness in her lips that her sleep caused.
"We're going to the beach. So, we can relax, splash water on each other, make sandcastles..." She trails off when she sees your eyes gleam at not just the first few words, but specifically her mentioning of building sandcastles.
"And I'm going to challenge you in a sandcastle contest." You say, and she tries her hardest not to break out into a big grin at how determined you were to do such a thing.
"Oh, really? Well I'm going to beat you in it!" she says, her voice slow and a quiet volume at first until her last few words, exclaiming as if she was trying to scare you, although with a soft voice.
"We'll see, we'll see." You say with your eyebrows raised, eager to win. At that, a laugh comes from her lips like a gentle melody.
The small laugh she did was short, but your heart still warmed just the same as the morning sunshine that peeked through the windows.
"Do you wanna go shower first, or should I?" You ask her, leaning back slightly to either get out of bed and go to the bathroom, or let her go.
"You can go shower first, sweetheart." She says with a soft smile. You nod, and her hands move to let you get out of bed.
You went to grab some clothes from the closet while Wanda unplugs her phone from the charger, checking the time. It was 8:24 AM. Certainly early, but not too early or late for the sun to be too sunny in the morning for your time at the beach.
You go into the bathroom and turn on the shower once you had your clothes off, making sure the temperature was just right. The shower gel was gentle on your skin, the aroma filling up the bathroom and making itself out to the bedroom, the familiar scent comforting the brunette outside the bathroom.
Soon enough you get done with showering and you step out with a towel. Wanda's eyes linger on you for a short while before returning to her phone. You blush as you made your way to your clothes on the bed.
She gets up and gets her own clothes and towel, to then shower herself. You put on your clothes when she closed the bathroom door. You plop on the bed, the soft mattress slightly going down with the change of weight.
You hear Wanda's phone make a notification sound, but you don't mind it much, and grab a hairbrush to fix up your hair a bit.
Wanda was quick with her shower, she came out and while you grabbed your phone and got ready with the other items, she wore her clothes, a loose thin jacket and a swimsuit underneath.
You turn to look at her softly, your eyes focused on hers. She was looking around the room, making sure you got everything.
"You ready to go?" You ask, and she hums her answer of a yes, grabbing her sunglasses on the bedside table and putting it on, now fully giving a beach look.
"Let's go, then." You walk out the bedroom with her behind you, going to the front door and opening it. The weather outside was perfect and clear.
Wanda locks the door with her house keys and goes to the car next to yours, which is of course, hers. You go to the passenger side, settling down into the seat as she turns on the engine.
She gets out the driveway and starts the journey to the beach, turning on the radio after a few minutes of quietness. Some Rihanna song is playing, setting a peaceful mood, but also making you want to move along to the beat.
The drive was short, seeing as your house wasn't too far away from the beach. The both of you were out the car when you had arrived, the crashes of the waves coming onto shore and visiting the sand could already be heard along with the strong wind.
You walk together to the beach, the sand hitting your sandals and feet as you go. Wanda's hands held beach towels so you could rest and lay down together.
When you find a perfect place where not many people were, that was when she set up the spot with the towels and sat down. You watch her, a smile growing on your face at the thought floating in your head.
"So...sandcastle competition time?" You ask her, and she shakes her head at your quick question, even right when she sat down. But a smile was present on her face.
"You're on!" She says, and goes to the side of the beach blanket, starting her little sandcastle, and you scramble to find your own place. She giggles, seeing you panic at her fast answer. You had sat right in front of her, working away with the sand.
After a few minutes, the two of you finish up, and both was perfect in every way. Although some parts were starting to fall apart. But it was still holding up good. Wanda looks at them, surprise over her face just as you were.
"Yours is...wow." She says, normally at first then to surprise with her eyebrows raised and a small laugh. Yours were big, but not all that much bigger than hers. You just had a tinge few little more details...and a small flag atop the castle. Where had you gotten it? She didn't know. You must've hidden it away in your pocket, she thought.
"If I'm going to be honest with you, yours look amazing. But mine is..." You stop when she cuts you off with a hum and a tilt of her head, her eyes narrowing their gaze on you as a warning.
"Hmm, well I think that we...have a tie!!" she gently pushes you on the beach blanket and tickles you, making shock fill your face, but laughs making sound from your chest.
"Wait, no!" You say between the giggling and laughing, her hands easily finding all the spots that you're ticklish at.
"Say it, or I won't stop!" She said, continuing on with no mercy. You were kicking your legs a little, but she was on your lap, so it did nothing.
"Okay! Okay, we have a tie!!" You surrender, the laughs getting tiring. She stops her attack on you, the both of you smiling brightly even though she had made you breathless.
She lays down beside you, catching her own breath even though she was the one who tickled you. But a giggle sounded out from her, having joy lingering from earlier.
A quietness went over the place other than the occasional seagulls in the sky and flapping their wings and on the sand, just near where the water kept coming in small waves.
Wanda moved closer to you, resting her head on your shoulder while you looked down on her. Your arms go to rest on the side of her waist, the warmth of your bodies keeping you in a decent temperature while the wind came and went by.
Your mind started to wander off, and your eyes travel way off over to the view of the ocean, the skies holding clouds melting within the blue. There was nothing in the distance but the ocean.
"Be honest," you start quietly, making Wanda curiously look up at you. Your hands had went to fiddle with hers, taking out one of her rings every now and then and playing with them, then putting it back into her fingers.
"...Are you starting to dislike me?" You mumble, trying to not make it too obvious that your thoughts were awfully loud. She notices you distracting yourself with her rings and fingers, making her look at you softly.
"What? No. I could never." Wanda's eyebrows furrow as her face fills with concern. She props herself up with her other hand that you weren't holding, looking into your eyes.
"What makes you say that?" She questions, as if oblivious to anything that's ever happened. You bit down on your lip and teared your eyes away from hers, looking at the sandcastles beside you.
"Okay. I know you've been busy, it's just...nevermind, it's stupid." Now her eyes sadden and she lets out a quiet sigh. She moves her hand to hold yours entirely, giving you an assuring squeeze.
"Hey...don't do that to yourself, малышка." She says softly, rubbing her thumb on the skin of your hand gently, hoping the motion will soothe you a little.
"I love you." She lets go of your hand and cups one side of your cheek, while going to place a soft kiss on the other side. She brushes her thumb on your lips now, making your teeth release it. It took everything in you to not break right then and there.
"I love you, too," you whisper, leaning into her touch. The sand moved with the wind just slightly, and even took a few layers off the sandcastles you had made.
"Don't ever blame yourself for anything between us." She shakes her head while saying it. Her voice was soft, and you look at her. You couldn't tell what the look in her eyes were, but you know you've seen it before.
You didn't give a reply. She didn't want one anyway. A silence washes over you like how the water washes the sand with it's gentle touch. She goes over her thoughts as she looked at your face.
"Do you wanna go to the water?" she asks, breaking the silence and looking at the ocean. Your eyes flicker to her before you look at the water, too.
"Yeah." You nod, and she smiles, pushing herself up to stand. You take her hand when she offered it, your legs moving to get you up.
Wanda takes off her thin jacket and kicks off her sandals, the sand meeting her feet as she walked closer to the water. You follow her, having gotten yours off too.
The water hits both of your feet, making a shiver run down your spine at the coldness of it. Wanda was already in to her waistline, but not going any farther than that. You continue on until you were close to her.
You feel the water with your skin and hands and the small waves that come and go, a feeling that had always calmed you. Your body starts getting used to the temperature, and it wasn't awfully freezing.
"How big of a splash can you make?" You ask casually, not really going in any direction with your small conversation, but she looks at you with her eyebrows raised.
"Is that a challenge?" She asks, watching you play around with the water and see the small waves that you make.
"Maybe." You tilt your head playfully, suggesting so, but only trying to feel the lovely beach air. The water keeps cascading against your bodies, while your hands go to rest on her shoulders, admiring her with the ocean in the background.
She smiles, and you could see the mischief in them. It made you curious, but then she splashed water lightly towards you, making you gasp. You splash back, initiating a battle of hitting water against each other, and each other's faces.
"Stop!" You shout, giggling along with her as you shielded yourself with your arms. She had done a big wave of a splash, making your hair soaked.
You wipe the rest of the water off your face, needing to breathe. You move your hand just slightly to do another small attack of water to her, but that was the end of it. You move away with a cheeky smile on your face and get out the water.
She laughed, knowing she won as you surrendered. The sun shone down on the both of you, although making you warm and the water glimmer with the light, the wind that breezed by made your bones tingle.
You walked back to the spot you picked out, sitting back down on it. She stays in the water for a while longer, taking in the refreshing feeling.
Soon after, she joins you, putting back on her thin jacket to defend herself against the wind. You welcome her into your arms, and she goes into your embrace just the same as the way the clouds enveloped the sun.
