Startouch Elf Headcanons
Headcanon #1
Startouch Elves are mostly nocturnal due to their connection to the stars, but are capable of adapting to other sleep-schedules.

While it doesn't harm them, Startouch Elves tire quickly under direct sunlight and in extremely hot temperatures. Some may get headaches from it, while others perhaps simply dislike it.
This is because they are connected to the stars- and while the sun is a star, the difference between the primal energies is big.
Now, highly concentrated sun primal energy? That can actually make them sick
Wayward Star
The prologue of my Wayward Star AU, which you can find through the link below!
It was a stormy night, a night in which most people were asleep. The wind rustled through the tree branches and droplets of rain fell from the heavens above. Far in the distance, the call of an owl disturbed the almost serene night, almost in alarm, and the distant sound of something thundering across the forest floor resounded through the night. A hoof hit a small puddle, then another and another. A group of horses, clad in armor and with knights on their backs, galloped across a narrow path, led by a duo of young men. In the dark night, they were hard to properly see. However, while one was clad in armor the other was not.
"Are you sure that this is the right way, Viren?" the taller man called over to the other, dark green eyes narrowed as he leaned closer to his steed to avoid a low hanging tree branch. Viren glanced down at the glowing, enchanted compass in his hands, an inky sort of darkness tainting his grey eyes. He frowned, then looked up. Expression steeling. "Yes, I'm sure. Whatever this source of magic is… it's close, Harrow" he announced, a small but bright shine appearing in his eyes. It would've unsettled everyone else… but Viren was his best friend, and Prince Harrow did not hesitate to trust the man. After all, he was the soon to be High Mage of Katolis… and he himself would ascend to the throne in perhaps two, maybe three years, too. "Let's hope it's nothing big. We did leave Sarai and Lissa alone with the kids" Harrow finally commented.
A sudden tenseness came over Viren, and he glared at the compass. "Yes…" he murmured, quieter and his voice strained. It was no secret that the marriage between the mage and his wife was… crumbling, to say the least. Ever since Soren had gotten sick, it had grown even more tense between the former love-birds. It had all started when Viren had started to delve deeper into dark magic… and now, the two were rarely even seen in the same room together. Claudia took mostly after her father. She was curious about magic, and being exposed to it since a young age, she seemed not to care about the fact that magical creatures had to be sacrificed.
The group continued onward, until they had to stop in front of a river. It was deep, wide. "So… what's in the river?" Harrow drawled, hand on his sword. Viren dismounted his horse, slowly approaching the river bank. He'd seen a spark of… something reflecting the moon and stars. "A torch" he ordered, and a tallish knight with blond hair quickly and dutifully carried a torch over to the mage. Viren's eyes widened in surprise, and Harrow took in a sharp breath next to him upon seeing what the other was seeing.
"Is that thing… emitting magic?" Harrow quietly asked, slowly coming closer to the river bench. The mage glanced to his Prince and future King, and there was a gleam in his eyes that spoke of pride and a want for knowledge, a need for knowledge. Viren laughed, pocketing the enchanted compass, before waving a pair of knights closer. "Yes, and not just any magic… star magic. This… might just be able to help us in the long run, Harrow" the future High Mage announced proudly, earning odd looks from some of the younger knights. It was truly no surprise for the elder knights to see the mage address the Prince of Katolis so casually, but for the younger ones, it might as well have been a culture shock.
Yet Prince Harrow merely smiled. "I'm sure my father will be very pleased" he answered with a hint of a nod, but his gaze rested on the small orb that was carefully being pulled out of the river. Somehow, in the back of his mind, he had an odd feeling. A feeling as though this would truly change the war… and oh, how right he was.
The group rode back to the castle of Katolis, Harrow and Viren once again leading the troops as they exchanged pleasant banter and conversation, the mirror secured on a makeshift carriage. The Prince and mage were both tired and looking forward to returning to their wives and children, even if the tension, in Viren's case, was high currently. Yet neither of them noticed as a small flicker went over the mirror.
For barely a second, what seemed like a study appeared in the orb and a hooded figure looked up, golden eyes with black sclera seemingly staring right through the light emitted by the glass sphere and looked at the stars, before the light inside the fireplace was drawn into a star-covered hand and extinguished, leaving behind an empty, white void…
It was just a little odd, that it had been where it was.
Almost… out of place.

Startouch are not solitary beings- rather, they live in larger groups that they call "Constellations". Similarly to the Sunfire Elves, they also have a regent.

Startouch Elves can sense primal energy if exposed to larger quantities. Depending on environment, amount and source, it varies how well they can tell which Arcanum they are sensing.

Startouch Elves are surprisingly expressive when it comes to body language. The way their stars flicker, fade, flare and dim can mean tons of different things.

The first Startouch Elves were born of shooting stars. But elves coming into the world that way became rarer over the centuries.

General Aaravos Headcanons
»He isn't overly fond of the darkened star symbol on his chest, but keeps it visible because basically no one knows that it's a sign of his status as a fallen Startouch.
»Aaravos, while in the magic prison, used illusions to keep himself company sometimes. It simply wasn't the same, though, and he stopped.
»Before his imprisonment, he saw little point in money and never paid much attention to its value- to the point where he sometimes forgot it exists. The humans in Elarion tended to give him stuff for free, so it wasn't like he actually needed it.
»When using Manus, Pluma, Volantus his wings are dark blue fading to a lighter purple with small dots of white along the primary feathers.
»He enjoys astral projections because of the lack of gravity.
»There are 341 books inside the prison. He knows because he read all of them. Multiple times.
Wayward Star
Since I managed two halfway decent sketches of the knight-duo from the Wayward Star AU, I decided to post them. I want to point out though that I don't sketch a lot and I'm perfectly aware that these are anything from perfect-

This is Meredith's current and I think she actually turned out OK-

And this is Henry, who... looks weirdly intense, for some reason? Not completely happy with how he turned out, but this one looks at least better than the original!
(Why are they sideways-)
Wayward Star
A small extract from chapter 2 of Wayward Star
He hurried down the hall, choosing a different path than the guards had. Humans. Why was he in a human castle? It made no sense. He vividly remembered being locked away, to a place even he didn't know where it was exactly, and now… now he was free. Free, on the human's side of the border. He wondered, idly, what happened to the magic mirror that Avizandum kept in his lair. Perhaps the old dragon would have a fit of rage. Or die of an aneurysm. He much preferred thinking of the second option. With the Dragon King out of the equation, there would be one thing less to worry about.
His musings, clearly, were something for later. Thus, he shoved the thought away- only to pause when he walked into something. No, someone. A kid. Shorter than him, much shorter. His head barely reached his waist. Were all kids this short? He couldn't remember. The kid blinked up at him and he blinked back. For some reason, with all the guards running around looking for him… he didn't expect the child to stay silent and stare at him. Not with curiosity.
"What are you?" the child asked him, staring up at him with large, green eyes. He stared down at the child, tilting his head.
Sketch
I made this sketch a while back for chapter 16 of Wayward Star- I can't quite remember if I drew this before or after writing the scene, but I believe I made the sketch after writing the chapter. Anyway, slight spoiler for chapter 16, art under the cut!

I absolutely messed up the sizes (since Avizandum is far, far bigger than this) and Aaravos also looks really weird (we are also not talking about Thunder's paws. They're weird-looking and I am absolutely aware), buuut... I found the sketch and thought "why not post it", so here we are!
I mostly drew Avizandum without reference and I think that was one of the many mistakes I made with this drawing-
Lyra & Antares
I posted sketches of Meredith and Henry before, and now that these two Startouch had two chapters dedicated to them, I think it's time to finally show what I (roughly) have in mind for them!
Ironically, while I'm posting these after Merry & Henry, I did draw these sketches first-

Lyra was actually the first sketch I made for both a full-body design as well as generally the first character of Wayward who I drew at all. I don't know if I'll ever find her first sketch, but if I do, I'll post that one too- although design wise, nothing much changed.
You can't see it on the picture, but she actually has a whip!

This is Antares, who is, fittingly enough with him being Lyra's boyfriend, the second character I drew both in full-body and generally. Once again, if I find the original drawing I'll post it alongside Lyra's. Once again, it's mostly the same design as he has now.
Yes, his staff is made to look like a bird. I didn't originally plan on it looking like that- but ended up keeping the sketch like that because... well, it sort of fit with my other notes on him.
Lyra and Antares are, in fact, a couple. While they aren't married, they do have matching horn-rings on opposite sides of their horns.
Whereas Lyra's star-mark actually is star-shaped (but hidden by her clothes), Antares' looks like a simple rhombus. While Lyra has silver skin and blue stars, Antares has onyx skin and red-orange stars. Lyra's hair fades from a dark midnight blue to white, while Antares has rust-red colored hair that fades to a sort of glowing orange.
