Sam’s realisation that Hilmes is mixed up in some BAD SHIT.

This makes me extremely sad.

Anyway, I have to give Arakawa some credit for utilising the Husrab situation to make it more believable that Hilmes would suddenly doubt Sam’s loyalty like that. Team Zahhak are so good at manipulating people, and preying on Hilmes’s insecurities by using Husrab as an example is very on brand for them… I can see why, in that moment, Hilmes might have been induced to wrongly interpret Sam’s attack on the sorceror as arising from residual loyalty to Andragoras (wanting to protect the royal family’s secrets) rather than wanting to protect him.
