my little sister and i used to burn candles at night and we'd set them on the table above our heads. she caught a tissue on fire and just dropped it on the table because she was like 8 and panicked so i (a wise 12 year old or smth) picked it up and ran to the bathroom and dropped it in the sink but you cant hold a tissue from the bottom and fire burns upwards so by the time I reached the bathroom it had already burned my hand. i woke up multiple times that night because of the pain. I'd put a plastic bag of ice on it and fall asleep and then wake up when the ice had warmed to room temp. for another week or so my hand would hurt if it wasn't cold even now when my hand gets really cold or really warm you can see where my thumb was burned
